Late, but hey I just woke up.

Palutena's Revolting Dinner
So, when's the announcement for the full anime, cause I would watch that. Head-tilts and all.

I'm also starting to notice it creeping into official albums, both the Penguindrum OP single and the No. 6 (don't judge me) OP single have a dubstepish mix. I haven't found one for this season though as none of the shows I've watched have had good enough OPs to check out the singles for.
I see... I never would've guessed. I know haly was watching that but you...

Kid Icarus: Uprising: Palutena's Revolting Dinner Part 1

Ok. I just saw this video and it was probably one of the most HNNNNNNG things I've seen all year.

These videos will be part of the Kid Icarus game, correct? Like cutscenes or something?
I'm definitely buying a 3DS for that game anyway because I was interested in playing it.
All the cutscenes are in-game, Fire Emblem style, actually.

I don't think there is some Dubstep in DEAR FUTURE. Shoegaze all the way <3

is there anyone else who love shoeagaze beside me?

Cheers guys (and gals) Just read about Ano Natsu. Apparantly its made by the smae folks who made Toradora and AnoHana which I really liked (Screw the haters for AnoHana)

I'll probably watch that one.

Ano Natsu is much better than Ano Hana. Nagai shines as a director when he's not being restrained by Okada's writing.

Holy
Shit

What an incredible trio of episodes to end. So much wonderful back and forth, so much backstabbing. Everyone had anticipated everyone else's moves in advance save for Dr. Hell's true motivation. Any concerns I had about the series having a wavering quality towards the middle were swept away here as every last bit of this show was handled with such care.

I'll commend the decision to make the first episode from pieces of the 24 and 25. It's an instant hook, every character is put into play immediately, and it gives the audience a sense of anticipation as to what was being built towards. I thought the pacing of the show was a bit wonky at times given how many episodes were devoted to the first night but I think I see them now as smaller arcs to put everything into motion for that finale. They did it right too, giving away just enough but leaving room to surprise the viewer once the time to finally watch this arrived.

What Kenzo did to the Mycenaeans was rather horrific but Ashura's history (and destiny) was moreso although entirely engaging. What Dr. Hell did to Tristan and Iseult was grotesque and I felt a lot of sympathy for Ashura and the shame it endured at being a mockery of a human. It's easily the best character though and the ending cemented this series as being its story. It was fantastic to see my perception of it change from whiny inept lapdog to tragic character to someone that finally took control and embraced its destiny.

I've no problems with the ending either. It fit well with the "one step ahead" motif the show embraced, it provides a launching point if this is ever revisited, and it came after Ashura's enidng. Going forward with it in this series wouldn't have set well with me as the most important piece would have been missing.

So fucking good.

ONE HUNDRED ROCKET PUNCH!
.

Imagawa is still the king of giant robot anime, even with absolutely no budget to work with.

I know Mari Okada is not populer here, but I like some of here work. Toradora and AnoHana were qiute good considering how restraint they were. But as long as you say that Ano Natsu is better than Ano Hana, then all is well.

I haven't gotten around to this in a while.

Re: Westerland

But holy shit, holy shit Oberstein. I can't decide if he's awesome or hair raisingly evil.

Oberstein just does what needs to be done to benefit the galaxy in general. His guiding principles seem fairly Utilitarian, which allows to perform acts that others would find repugnant.

Okada didn't so much "write" Toradora as she did "transcribe a novel into TV anime length"

That is harder that it sounds like. There are lot of rubbish Anime based on great novel.

I would have to agree with this point - converting a novel into an anime is no easy task. It's not simply a matter of compressing the source material, serious care has to be taken in making sure the important elements of the work translate into the new format.

This was my face when I saw the Queen. holy crap!

A very engaging episode on the uper echelon of karuta, and Taichi was very slick.

Say what now?

Simple, the anime is hot on the heels of the manga. Gintama went on hiatus before so I'm not surprised to see it end again. There's no official word of the anime returning, however, the show is popular and the DVD's sell well. There should be no doubt of it doing so, especially if they end Gintama' in a manner many of us suspect.

Never paid attention to the staff on this show while watching so never realized it was Imagawa until after. My reaction? "Well that makes sense."

Birdy The Mighty Decode 2 - 5

This show has been a lot more enjoyable than I originally intended. While the animation rarely hits the spectacular heights of the opening episode for the vast majority of the time the show looks really good with nice movement, good character designs and an attractive colour pallet. Clearly, being well produced doesn't automatically make your show good (although it does help) but I'm bringing it up first because it's one of the things which stuck me right off the bat.

Still, I wouldn't carry on watching the show if the only thing it had going for it was strong visuals (I dropped The Idolmaster, after all). It needs to have characters that I'm invested in and a story that I find interesting or at least a set of episodic stories that are well told. Birdy does a good job of having a serious, overarching story supported by episodic storyline that largely tie back into the main story. This manages to keep things light and fresh, it doesn't get too bogged down by a single storyline.

Another refreshing aspect of the show is the general lack of boring, painful expository talk explaining how this sci-fi show works. There's lots and lots of technology and alien races and all this stuff that just kind of exists in the show without being questioned or explained, which makes a nice change.

Precure Smile 02

Sunny came home

Ok so we are introduced to Precure sunny as the title of the episode so elegantly gives away.

This show seems rather simple so far.

We see some of Miyuki's friends at school. Yayoi is sitting there being adorable just by existing as usual.
Another of Miyuki's friends, Hino, is a bit of an athletic sports nut and very brash. If I were to equate her with...ahem...Sailor moon, she would be Sailor Marhnnnnngh. Sorry. I mean Sailor Mars.

So the
Wolfie boy
decides to start shit again by creating
Volleyball monster
. He
captures Precure Happy, who is no longer as described. This awakens within Hino the power of Precure and she turns into Precure Sunny in a pretty badass Henshin. She makes short work of the monster with her ridiculous powers
and everything is groovy.

Did I mention this show is really HNNNG? It totally is.

Kimi no Iru Machi - OVA

Holy crap, what the hell did I just watch? Half of it was showing how the "main couple" had to part ways and have a long distance relationship, main character goes on a school trip to where the girlfriend (?) lives then some girl from his school asks to be her fake boyfriend where the whole second half of the OVA is a back story on a fictional relationship, which all comes back to bite the main character in the ass at the end.

I won't lie, I glossed over the manga reactions of rage in the manga thread, and if that's a taste of it, then... WOW! If they went ahead and made a full anime out of this then all the ragehol is justified.

So, having seen this already, I'm totally wondering how people will react when they see the Queen.

BBW FTW etc. I'm expecting tears!

And, of course, they also bring in
Suo, the meijin for the first time.

It's interesting because (manga spoilers)
this is really a set up for a lot of what happens in the next long arc of the series. I really think they're going to do the montage non-ending at this point.

Anyway, sports is still boring, and having characters narrate their feelings to themselves wouldn't be so bad if sports cliches amounted to more than
"I worked so hard to become the best"
and so forth.

In an ideal world, Chihayafuru would get a 12 episode sequel series and the director/writer/whatever would be forced to compress and trim the karuta games and focus on the characters. This isn't the days of 200 episodes of Slam Dunk, so having multi-episode arcs devoted to just playing the games is crazy.

I still bring up Cross Game, because baseball maybe - and this is conservative - made up less than a third of the show. The rest was the interesting stuff, like I dunno... character development.

It's so weird to go from mega hype to disappointment though. It's like the reverse of my emotional arc with Boob Alien/AnoNatsu.

The Light of El Cantare
It looks like something interesting has happened to
my queen
. Looks like it's time to catch up, but I suppose I should catch up on Chihayafuru in time for the finale anyway.
