What I'd like to see expanded in Halo 4 is stuff like the comm. guy you hear over radio when lasing the target locator. I know it sort of has a CoD feel to it, but it was cool to know for once in campaign and FF that you had some real firepower on your side up there.

Edit: Also, anyone find the vidoc music really starting to grow on you?

Knowing them, they're probably counting all the Firefight lists and Campaign Co-Op in their numbers.

Also, it's been a year now since Defiant came out. Still full price!

That would require them to acknowledge Firefight, so I doubt it. :p

But really, the introduction of Super Slayer is totally baffling. It was presented as a sort of compromise resulting from the two week TU vs. Vanilla competition in Team Slayer, but it didn't solve anything. Were people really crying out for a TU Slayer list with armor lock and community forge maps? 343 should have just left things as they were.

But whatever. With the added WTF decision of removing bleedthrough, Squad Slayer would have been no fun to me, anyways. It still feels weird to say that MLG is my favorite list.

With BT gone there really is no reason to keep the facade up. Just make the TU global (minus Invasion since it won't work there) and stand behind the changes.

It was easily the best one in 3, too. Less shit, less bad map variety. I rather have a full team going in though - as bad as people are in regular playlists like Super Slayer, you need them to be better in something like MLG.

Most of the TU changes are, at some level, arbitrary tweaks, most of which have some unbalanced detrimental effect. Bleedthrough was the main offender. If they want to continue fixing the TU gametype, they should adjust bloom next, and then maybe re-introduce sword block. Basically, my theory is when you sufficiently test the gametype and work out all of its flaws you end up back at Reach 1.0.

I used to care. Now I want Reach to resemble something cohesive before it's dumped for Halo 4. The vast majority of fixes would require another TU and there's no fucking way MS funds 1.2 with 4 around the corner.

Defiant Map Pack was already part of 3-4 DotW. Blame people for not using the chance. Otherwise which hyped game's DLC got a perma price drop?

Host selection seems to have gotten progressively worse over the last few months, at least from what I've played. I'd like to see what happens if they erase host history like they did back with Halo 2, to see if that makes a difference. Their upstream detection was completely broken for several months, with my 5 meg upload showing the WARNING status in the menu. Kind of makes me wonder how accurate their tools are.

It really seemed like an attempt to avoid taking a hard stance by making a weak effort at catering to both sides ("Voting data suggests that people like video games!" This is science.). Given how the actual experiment was handled, with maps, starting weapons, etc. not being the same in every voting screen, I wonder how much data they were actually able to gather, or what conclusions they were able to draw - turns out putting TU Elite Slayer and Slayer DMRs on the same voting screen doesn't make for very good data gathering! It was not exactly a shining example of well-designed investigation.

The sad part is that folks that really wanted Team Slayer to go Title Update and went and voted for TU gametypes a bunch in the voting period ended up getting shafted, trading a good TU Slayer playlist for the Super Slayer disasterlist.

Halo 3. Legendary is 160msp now. Mythic 1 is 400msp. These days though, Mattrick would rather squeeze the last few 10$ purchases off people instead of helping the community and reducing the cost of the content.

It's based off the same timing as simulkills. Wasn't luck based to me, and it rewarded you for using the non-lunge melee at CQB range since it comes out faster than the right trigger melee. Now we're back to Halo 2's "lol, why you usin' da B button?" and sprint swording is even MORE annoying. It's also pointless since Hammer Parry is still in, which is more annoying since apparently anything in it's shock wave will parry it. I can be standing far away from other people and suddenly my hammer will parry. At least under Better Reach I could parry the Sword Sprinter, jump back and mow them down. I wanted multi-weapon parrying since 2009, so I'm not just defending this because it's in vanilla Reach.

Even with it removed, the TU should just be global at this point.

I've always felt they should let Reach be Reach and 4 be 4. I appreciate that they tried to effect a positive change in Reach, but it mostly fell flat, with MLG probably benefiting the most from the TU.

Yeah, I get that. Doesn't help that I really hate the simultaneous kill system in the last few games - the window seems to be too big, or maybe just feels inconsistent since I don't have the ping numbers for each player. I probably end up getting simultaneous headshots in a third of my DMR duels, which might just say something about my skill, I dunno.

I wish there was a better way to get past the issue. Fatter internet pipes, I guess.

For the record, though, I really don't like how armor abilities work with melee at all, much less the sword. Always thought that a significant delay between sprint and being able to melee or fire should have been there.

It's 100ms either way.. so it does depend on your connection a bit. Host is looking for an input within 100ms of the other person's melee to activate the parry. So parrying probably has a bit more leeway in client vs client against client vs host from our perspective. For simulkills, they could probably stand to drop the simulkill spread a bit.

Also perhaps a compromise where the lunge is parryable but the melee is not.

I can honestly say I would do better at the event with these guys having almost no practice together than the guys I was teaming with for almost 3 weeks.

I'd be surprised if Halo 4 wasn't playable in some form.
