Disagree completely. Video feed of a podcast room rarely adds anything to the content, and i'd hate for the guys to actually start catering to the cameras, which in effect, makes the audio-only podcast a worse product.
Agree with this, mostly because I want Ryan focused on hosting the show and contributing to conversations instead of having to play producer during the Bombcast, running the switcher and worrying about how the stream is going. Nothing wrong with keeping fake radio strictly fake radio.

I don't think anyone's asking for anything more than letting a camera run while they record. No live streaming, no extra production needed, etc. Editing the vid would be cake as it would just be based off of Ryan's edits for the audio - they just need to know the timecode of what gets cut out.

How come no Dota 2 coverage yet? Surely Brad would be at least a little interested with his starcraft stuff.

I don't know, but Brad said a while back he was playing it (learning with some people) and left it at that. I'm guessing either they don't care too much for the game, or they are waiting for a specific time to show it.

Kay, I hadn't heard if they had said anything. Wasn't sure if he wasn't in yet, or if they wanted to wait till it was less beta-y/more features added, or what.

Also this just came out on steam and seems like perfect quick look material.

Yeah, I'm just going by how the Radio Dave show went. There's a ton of functionality built into that new room, way more than what Tested was working with. It would also create extra work if they ever needed to edit anything out or felt like taking a break, plus the time it takes to render and encode an extra 2-3 hour video a week.

Even if there were no production distractions or chat or editing to deal with, a video of them recording that doesn't take advantage of the studio's capabilities and isn't live isn't really that appealing to me. Would rather they use their time and resources to create additional subscriber content instead of working on that.

Just because the room is capable of doing something more doesn't necessitate them HAVING to use said extra functionality. And as I stated, editing the video should be easy - Ryan would have to edit the audio anyway, take note of the audio cuts made and make the same cuts in the video, render the video out (which requires no manpower, you make it sound like someone has to sit there watching the progress bar move). Doing something like this should not prevent them from making more content due to lost productivity.

Undoubtedly it will be more work in the end. More bandwidth, too.
And I have yet to hear a solid argument as to what it actually adds to the podcast if they wouldn't acknowledge that there's a single, static camera pointing at them.

The added feature of the livestreamed Tested podcasts to me, was the live discussion with the other subscribers, the actual video content isn't that interesting.

I work as an audio/video producer - trust me, it's always extra work/time. And even if it wasn't, having that show up on the site a day or two after the audio podcast drops just doesn't really matter to me personally. If it wasn't something they felt was worth it in the old office Tested-style, don't see why that should change now especially if they aren't going to utilize that tech.

I too work with A/V stuff all the time at work. And I believe the extra work/time for a simple implementation is negligible, and doubt it would take a whole extra day to get it finished. But who knows, maybe I'm just used to having a ton of equipment and support available at my office that it just seems like this should be cake since it would be for us. :p

lol we have decent equipment too, no need to dig ;). Extra work is extra work, the turnaround for a 50 MB mp3 is a lot faster than multiple bitrate versions of 2-3 hour video. It's something they've been entirely capable of doing for years and have given reasons why they don't like it, most of which I agree with, so not sure why they'd start now.

You guys weren't wrong. TNT was shit. What the fuck have they done to Mario Party? The formula was perfect before and as much as they all talked shit, all of the games had been great fun.

I hope they get a proper set too. Green screen looked tacky!

That reminds me, I wish there was an easy way to organize those QLs in order for rewatch purposes. To get the full effect of their descent into depression.

That's something I've wanted for a super long time. The only way I know how to do it at the moment without just opening a bunch of tabs is by using the HTML5 Theater, and the Theater is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.

They're in order in the QL section. Go back about 20 pages til you find the first and just go forward.

Not easy, but not hard either! There's actually not that many so finding them all and downloading them won't be too difficult.

On that note, I'm up to 700 Quick Looks. 300 odd more to download until I have all of them!

Still without luck

Jesus...

How many hard drives does that use up?

I feel kind of weird that Patrick's story about potential Kickstarter failures probably directly led (or at least lent a lot of support) to Auditorium 2: Duet getting funded.

I mean it is cool and all that that game is getting made, but it just seems weird that they got a news story while there are other games are also waiting for funding and probably won't get it. It is a strange amount of power for a news story to wield.

You might be overstating the pull GB has. That game was close to getting funded before the article went up. Look at the graph posted in the story. The article went up March 27, and there is already a huge spike in contribution on March 25. It's pretty normal for Kickstarters to surge in the last couple of days when the project is still underfunded.

Even if they did result in it getting funded, how is that at all negative? The guys behind this stuff don't have any marketing budget, they rely on places like GB to get the word out.

Certainly there's a discussion to be had regarding the power of the news media to bring attention to issues, but it just so happens that it's far easier for people to do something about this issue than for most other ones like DLC gouging or sexism in the FCG.

And congratulations to Vinny.

That's awesome and a nice surprise! (Unless I missed an announced 9 months ago on a bombcast lol)...

So what's the diminutive of that name?
