My favorite Madonna song is co-written by Bjork, so so good. Homogenic is just so good. I do prefer Vespertine above all, though.
BTW, how much money did Guy Ritchie end up with after the divorce? Madonna seems pretty bitter about it. "Love Spent" is obviously about him marrying her for her $$$, in "I Don't Give a Damn" she mentions she had to suck it up because she didn't have a pre-nup and in "Gang Bang" she says he ended up with all of her "jack".
I find it fascinating that this woman was smart enough to get a pre-nup in her 20s when she married Sean Penn and had a lot less money to protect, but was foolish enough to trust her second husband in her 40s. It defies logic. And ironically, I bet Sean Penn wouldn't have taken a dime even in the absence of a pre-nup.

Pre-nups are just so... phony. The fact that she didn't get one in spite of her legal counsel goes to her credit in my view and goes against everything the media has to say about a cynical, controlling Madonna.
I'm surprised the press didn't eat Ritchie alive for this. Heather Mills became the world's most hated woman for a lot less. Guess it shows how much people dislike Madonna.
What do they mean by Ritchie having "relinquished" any claims to Madonna's money? Legally? And if so, WTF didn't she fight him in court?

Madonna never has had any breakdowns or struggles. The media loves the underdog and comeback kids. They love women who are humbled and weakened. A woman who's been in power 24/7 for the past 30 years...not so much. And especially not when that woman just doesn't give a fuck and does whatever she wants, even if it's controversial or taboo, and gives the finger to whoever calls her out on it.

It is pretty gross. The casual ageism when it comes to this woman is remarkable, especially compared to completely hideous old men that are still the darlings of the media. I expect the media to have higher standards of journalistic integrety than some stans on message boards, but I guess I expect too much.

I watched In Bed with Madonna the other night and honestly, I had no idea what her personality was like. Whether it's a bit contrived because of rolling cameras, she comes off as equally intelligent, powerful and articulate. It was a treat. I respect her a whole lot more. Regardless if her music is "simple pop/dance" tunes, I think she stands alone because she is so introspective and intelligent. Seems to me the media can't stand that, especially in a woman of her caliber. God damn you Madonna, you're so fucking beautiful.

Nah, she was playing to the camera a lot of the time. But she also allowed herself to be filmed in an unflattering light which for a celebrity is very rare. A lot of it was sincere, some of it not so much. Maybe I should watch it again. I haven't seen it in over 10 years and I must admit I was very young and naive at the time. Her humor is also is very dry and easy to misinterpret. Hmm, maybe I will watch it tonight.

The standard version is pretty run of the mill sexy dancing with lots of skin showing. Except this time it's men instead of women. The only thing that stood out for me as kinda explicit is the close up of that guys junk in the beginning. That might be pushing it. An 8 minute performance over a month before an album is launched, with zero mention of said album doesn't exactly scream "promotion".

She's actually quite raunchy at times, but it's funny. She reminds me of a few girls I knew from high school (pre-dominantly from Italian families, like Madonna). She's definitely not dry, and is quite upfront, at least that's how she portrayed herself. Definitely was not typical of a celebrity. I think the difference between her then, and her now is, she's trying a bit to "keep it real" so to speak. Back then, seems like she had a better grasp on doing things in spite of what others thought.
I can agree about the new video; while it doesn't offend me at all (she looks quite good in it). I'm still debating whether it's some sort of callback to other things she's done, or a slam at people like Lady GaGa by saying "hey look, I can lift and copy too [KAZAKY and their whole thing]"; or if she really is just trying to stay relevant to a younger crowd.
However disappointed I am with the new album, it's helped me appreciate her older stuff a lot more. She's still getting the typical knee-jerk reactions from conservative folks it seems (O'Reilly), so I think she's been successful there. With that in mind, I'd say it was all intentional, and that's what seems to be the difference between Madonna (then and now) and other pop stars.
Anyone prefer super-blonde Madonna in new video? I sure do.

That would be an insult to her legacy. Gaga isnt really a clone because number 1 she cant dance for her life, number 2 Gaga has more copied Dale Bozzio than Madonna she jacked Dale's career/identity/looks/wigs/costumes entirely, its just Madonna is the more relevant one to name.
