PSP in 2012 - What's left? 5 RPGS!

Sorta really looking forward to Gungnir to satisfy that SRPG itch. I'd probably be into Growlanser if I had a clue what it was about. Not much gameplay on Youtube. :\

Grand Knights History looks absolutely magical, but the way it's being described doesn't sound all that substantial (no real story, just one big grind to build an online team).

What about that Witch and the 1000 Calvarymen. I think that's what it is called. It's made by the Prinny people.

Edit: Still wishing (and I know it won't happen) for Trails in the Sky SC. So much wishing.

But JRPGs told me that hope and dreams and wishes can get me anywhere?!

And all three games NISA announced are PS3.

Some good titles. It's funny that I'm more excited about these than Vita games. (Vita really needs more games soon!)

I'm worried about Dragon's Crown and Grand Knight History because of those latest rumors. I know it's confirmed that Dragon's Crown hasn't been cancelled, but it still makes me worry especially since GKH was announced to come out last year and now its status is unknown.

Not good. :(

What's the new Shining game that just came out in Japan a couple of weeks ago? (Shining Blade?) I'd never even heard of it until I read last week's Media Create thread, then I watched a trailer and it looks really damn good. Any hope of Sega localizing it?

Guess I'm one of the few that are intested in all five RPGs.

Nah, I'm in for all five. They're even relatively spaced out release wise (...and then Grand Knights History is somewhere) that I may actually be able to play them all when they release!

Love that art style.

I'll surely buy Gungnir since I love Sting SRPGs.
Growlanser and BRS ? Will depend of the reception.

I'll skip the others.

I've been holding off with my PSP/PSOne backlog and picking up my DS/GBA backlog after I beat Phantasy Star II because of the RPG VITA thread.

Is the quality difference between playing on the PSP GO screen and the VITA screen that big? I wouldn't mind knocking out a couple more RPGs before Diablo 3, but that thread made me put it on hold until an eventual VITA redesign.

As for these titles, I'll wait to see what the verdict is. I honestly don't think I would get any day 1 (backlog + D3), but I do want to show my support.

Meh, I hate RPG's where you can't actually see your character do anything.

I was only really talking about the enemy sprites, which I like a bit more than the character portraits. I used to dislike the invisible character thing, but after playing so much DQ and Megaten I really don't mind it at all.

I actually prefer not seeing the characters to the way the Phantasy Star and Golden Sun series handles it, at least when it comes to 2D sprites. For 3D I think DQVIII is the perfect solution. The only reason I don't default to a side-view preference like Final Fantasy is that I often find the front view of enemies much more interesting than their side profile. I think my absolute favorite solution for 2D would have to be Suikoden, with the almost isometric angle showing six enemies and six allies.

Anyway, dem monster sprites...

I don't understand why they physically release some of those games, it's useless.
Because there's still enough demand from the audience that wants these kinds of games? Not to mention Atlus could spring pre-order incentives on us (or just bundle them with stuff straight up) that would be harder to do on PSN.

I'd be more inclined to just go with PSN for Vita compatibility, but if feels like the bottom spontaneously fell out on the retail marketplace for these games, and combined with the current fiasco with Motorstorm and Hot Shots Tennis I think I'd rather get them on UMD for now. Also doesn't help they STILL have yet to get Hakuoki on Vita BC, so the intent of going PSN might be effectively moot if they twiddle their thumbs again.

Is it the last year of the psp? I'm dying for a good SRPG. Gungnir looks interesting.

In Europe there hasn't been a single new PSP retail release this year, and there's none scheduled either. 2011 would seem to have been the last year of the PSP there. At least PSP is region free though, which begs the question, are there any import friendly Japanese titles still to come in 2012?

Nope, they all are very much to my taste. I'm very pumped for Gungnir since it's been a while since the last Dept. Heaven game and who knows where that series goes from here with Super Sting being a thing now. Growlancer and GKH are must buys, too, and while I'm not sure if I will actually buy both CoH and UB they are definitely on my radar.

I'll be getting Growlanser and Gungnir. I was originally interested in Grand Knights History but not no that I hear there's almost no single-player content. I'll be getting Unchained Blades on 3DS. The only one I totally don't give a fuck about is COH2 which by pretty much all accounts is generic C-list trash.

Persona 2: EP

last PSP game I'll probably buy.

Last PSP game anyone will probably buy!

So you are in fact not interested in all five jRPGs!

(Where'd you get accounts of CoH2 being generic trash, anyway? Most of the impressions I've dug up have been rather good to it.)

2 SRPGs, a no story RPG, and a pair of first person only rpgs? Thats a really sad year! I wouldn't touch any of 'em.

Calling Aksys: we can has Fate/Extra 2 plz?

That you'd take Fate/Extra over Growlanser says more about you than it does the quality of the year.

I'm hoping DD and Vita BC (assuming SCEA can become more timely anyway) allows publishers to pick at the library for years, especially if Vita falls through on providing this stuff, but at the very least Eternal Punishment will probably be the last physical game we'll be able to buy. Not unless a miracle happens and Trails in the Sky 2 comes over.

I doubt that P2:EP won't make it to NA.
There've been late and super-late releases for "officially dead" consoles before. Hell, WWE All Stars got ported for PS2 of all things just last year. Don't know how they worked that out.

No one's even doubting it. It'd take SCEA refusing a retail release, or more likely GameStop/Amazon refusing to stock it in order to not get a physical release, in which case they'd probably just roll with it and make it a PSN title instead. Most likely though I think that it's the one game retailers will make an exception for, and I doubt SCEA gives a damn so long as you can get it to retail in the first place.

Nothing wrong with first person dungeon crawlers. We generally only get one of those a year. With Unchained Blades, CoH2, and Legend of Grimrock all coming this year (maybe Etrian Odyssey 4 if it comes out in time), I'm planning on enjoying the bounty.

I'm just interested in Black Rock Shooter, but at this point it probably wont get a physical release so I'll probably never play it.

I already got Hakuoki. And I preordered Growlanser WoT and Gungnir. I'll still hopefully be able to preorder GKH at some point, but I'm starting to doubt it'll come to retail. I might get the CoHII physical release and help the Kickstarter too, but that might be a couple of weeks.

I'll probably get Growlanser on PSN for Vita. Probably it for me this year unless something else gets announced.
