I was convinced that a new NSMB would be the first Mario for Wii U, but the more I think about it, the more a 3D Mario makes sense. Putting a new 2D Mario out on both of their platforms would likely result in cannibalisation of sales. They'll likely follow the same pattern as last generation with a new 2D Mario selling like hotcakes for a few years on their handheld before they bring out console version and make a killing all over again.
On the 3D front, Koizumi's team has had many years to put a new concept together. Galaxy was playable at E3 2006, so if the Mario at E3 is a 3D title it's probably reasonable to expect it to release in mid-late 2013.
On another note, I'm very impressed that EAD Tokyo 2 was able to put 3DLand together in 18 months. With that sort of development time and the deadline they were working to, I can understand why they brought Brownie Brown on to the project.
Almost certainly, yes.
I completely understand Nintendo's secrecy when it comes to actually showing Wii U software, but not allowing publishers to announce anything for the platform is just counterproductive.
I don't think it matters. They want to impress everyone with the level of support at their conference. The weight of their list of games coming to the platform will be a lot weaker if we know about three quarters of them already.
Anybody who knows about the Wii U already and is keeping up with announced games for the platform follows gaming news very attentively, and there's plenty of time to swing their perception of the console around. If E3 is good enough, that alone will do it.
after the success of the dsi xl, i hope nintendo makes an xl version of the wii u console.
I literally laughed out loud.
Wait, M-Flo are releasing music again!? I had no idea. How could I hate!? That put me in such a happy bubblegum housey mood. <3
