Gonna play through MP1/MP2 over the next week to get me in the mood. I'm so un-hyped for this it's not funny, and quite frightening, as I loved (and still love) the old Max Payne games.
I thought I'd combine some highlights from the latest trailer:
New shots:
Plus, another photo of the statue!
SO close. Hard to believe we've gone from 9 years waiting for a sequel to 29 days!
Tell me about it. So far I'm far beyond being impressed from the Rockstar videos. If this game can captivate me like 1 and 2 did, I'll still be playing it 10 years from now. I have a feeling my game of the decade is almost here.
Edit I took the time to make some more compilation GIFs.
any word on how long this game is?
I don't agree with any of these complaints, but about the last one, I really couldn't disagree more.- The location doesn't fit the noir setting, like South America.
- Doesn't seem to have any memorable characters so far. Like a strong female one. Mona Sax was a terrific character.
- The "comic strip" version is so distracting and terrible made.
- The marketing so far with the tech videos I don't like at all. I don't want to see the tech. I want a good trailer with the MP music we know.

R games are really known for being content rich. If this is 9 hours (which isnt that short) are there any other aspects of single player that they have added to the game? Or is it just multiplayer?

No Dead Man Walking mode? Well, there's always the hope for a return through DLC.
Just ordered this off Amazon..
I know the guide doesn't represent the length of the game but I was still surprised to see it's 304 pages. I mean that only puts it around 20-40 pages shy of the Red Dead guide.

Whoa, that is awesome. That guide really must have a lot to it- I've always bought Rockstar guides after my first playthrough. But I'm really interested to see if a chunk of this guide is dedicated to Multiplayer strategies (I'm kind of hoping it's all single player ish!)

Good for those who are looking to get caught up! And wonderfully amazing that we can play as original characters in Multiplayer!

Just a head's up, Best Buy's preorder deal for this is pretty damn nice. If you have the free version of their Gamer Rewards you get a $10 gift card. If you have the paid version you get a $20 gift card. Everyone that preorders will get the first paid DLC pack for free. That combined with the fact that my BB is doing a midnight launch made it a much better deal than Amazon for once.
9 hours is longer than I thought. Nice.
At the official Max Payne 3 site today, you'll find the latest intelligence dossier documenting one of the game's most notorious forces, the Crachá Preto paramilitary faction of São Paulo. The detailed file on this ruthless vigilante squad reveals that they're far from an amateur band of gunmen - their 400 strong army consists of hardened and highly-trained specialized police, firefighters and even rogue active military men.
Although they claim to be a 'community self-defense force', the report reveals a more sinister side with a history of extortion, blackmail and drug trafficking - amongst other nefarious deeds. Their leader, Álvaro Neves and right-hand man, Milo Rego are men to be feared - and will not hesitate to deploy swift and violent action against any perceived enemy or obstructionist threat.
Check out the file including a selection of brand new Max Payne 3 screenshots here.

Vigilante militia, made up of off-duty and former police, soldiers, prisons guards and firefighters.
Extremely well-armed and equipped. Strong proficiency with ranged weapons.
Promote themselves as a “community self-defense force”, but little more than a death squad for hire.
Formed in 2006 by a group of rogue officers who started carrying out extrajudicial killings in under-policed areas of São Paulo.
The name Crachá Preto was coined because officers used to cover up the name and unit tags on their uniforms before vigilante attacks.
Initially financed by members of the business community and other wealthy residents to eliminate thieves, drug dealers and other social undesirables.
Allegedly responsible for the massacre of more than 200 homeless people in 2008.
Between 2006 and 2009, their activities were focused on taking control of favelas from gang members.
Pattern of winning over favela residents by ousting drug dealers, then imposing their own autocracy on the community.
Militia members take over the water, gas and cable supplies, in addition to charging a ‘security tax’ for protection.
Sources indicate an increased focus on arms/drugs trafficking and political assassinations since 2009.
Believed to be responsible for the murders of up to 90 local politicians, judges, witnesses and community leaders between January 2010 and December 2011.
Kidnapped and tortured 2 Spanish journalists who attempted to investigate them in 2010.
Close ties to high-ranking officials and politicians in São Paulo.
Suspected of influencing political campaigns through voter intimidation.
Known for their use of torture, including castration, electric shock and asphyxiation.
Accused of planting crime scene evidence and staging executions to look like gang killings.
Often victims are dismembered, secretly buried, or burned, making identification almost impossible.
Human Rights organizations report a marked increase in missing persons from low income communities of São Paulo since 2010.
