Thanks! Honestly, I would love it if Nintendo made something like that their answer to the popularity of the online deathmatch game. Something that isn't just another shooter, but has really quirky mechanics and presentation. While I appreciate that Nintendo's answer to this has so far been to place a big focus on local multiplayer modes that are being ignored on other platforms as a result, striking a balance on Wii U would be nice.
I've thought some more on this proposal, and love it even more. The "big air" aspect reminds me of ExciteTruck, while the road/racing combat element reminds me of SpyHunter and RoadBlasters. Nail the online and local multiplayer aspects, polish the production values, get really creative with the power-ups and items in the game, and provide a good variety of tracks and landscapes, and this kind of game could rival F-Zero for my chosen racing game of the generation.
Heck, it's not that often that we get to see a game set on rollerskates, hehe..
I'll even start off on the first power-up item: the Flying Squirrel Suit. Since getting big air for an attack vantage is so important, being able to stay aloft even longer is very important. This suit would increase the player's airtime by a certain percentage, dependant-upon how fast the player is going when he/she takes flight.
There would be a few disadvantages to the suit, however! Firstly, your character would sustain more damage from attacks while wearing this, since the suit isn't very good at defense. And secondly, it takes several seconds to put the suit on, which means that you can't use items or maintain flight during this "outfit changing" time period. Indeed, while one is more vulnerable while donning or wearing the suit, one's attacks may be more effective or numerous.. so this would be a great suit for offensive-minded players. Or for when the track landscape makes airtime a large advantage.
Yes.. we could have some real fun creating this game, hehe!
