The Wii Remote changed.
Hardly. The general button layout remained essentially the same, with only minor spacing tweaks:

Wii U Zelda screenshot. *sigh* Someday, someday.
Yo Link, can ya scratch my ass with yer Ocarina... you know that thing you use to put up to yer lips to play outta tune music, thanks palat first i thought he was scratching the horse's butt.
I always love that pic. Black beans and rice didnt miss her... LOLHardly. The general button layout remained essentially the same, with only minor spacing tweaks:
Remember the original concept had sticks over pads.
Ahhh, this shit takes me back to 2000-2001, when everyone shat all over the GameCube controller. Seems we will never learn the mistakes of the past, will we?
And everyone please stop talking about the slider pads. I don't want to have to repost the same thing I do every time this is brought up, but I will when provoked.
no, i mean the slider pads have this concave design, like the 3ds's slider pads, but the edges of them have this additional grip (the same sort of thing that's on the nunchuck analog stick). it makes the slider pads feel like they have sharp edges.
I never noticed them feeling sharp. Just the lack of grip.
E3 2010:
NEVER FORGET
well you haven't played the wii u controller right?
wii u pads = 3ds pad with added nunchuck edge things. it makes the wii u pads feel sharp.
that's what i'm trying to say.
Is he blowing the microphone and playing with it's balls?

They should have stuck with it .
Maybe it will be like the GameCube era, where they loaned their characters to certain games like Link in Soul Calibur II or Mario, Peach and Luigi in NBA Street and I want to say SSX.
You're certainly right the opportunities haven't been there. I just have an inkling any exclusive content will have to do with the controller functionality not some substantial exclusive DLC or timed exclusive DLC. The functionality will be nice, but the controller is the selling feature of the console, not the graphics like 360 or PS3. Developers should utilize it especially since the screen will be easier to work with than waggle.
If Nintendo really is in bed with EA I could potentially see something big come out of that. Ubisoft is also a possibility but I think it will be more likely a repeat of their Wii and 3DS support: dump a lot off at launch and dribble out games afterward. So many small developers have been soured from WiiWare getting exclusives from them will be an uphill battle. Apparently they were very cooperative and friendly to get people on board but lost the goodwill from bad business decisions (size limit, submission process, payment, etc.). Hopefully for them they haven't burned too many bridges.
Haha. Shiggy posted them in the second thread.

The EA situation is interesting. Sony has a very tight relationship with them and they've been securing exclusive content (and some times full games) for several years now. I'm not sure how that's going to play out. I guess we'll know after Sony's conference. If they don't announce any exclusives from EA then that would be a real indication that Nintendo going to have some content to announce from EA at their conference.
Even the slight shift of the buttons to the inner part of the controller looks more comfortable.
What could have been .

Well.. the IdeaMan says we haven't seen the final version. I'm wondering what this surprise change will be..

I'm gonna miss BIG ASS A BUTTON. All three of my Nintendo consoles have had those, it's a staple for me starting with the N64

IIRC, he said the screen size may have shrunken slightly.
I've always said that Nintendo needs to get their console on Oprah before Christmas shopping begins..The final controller is made of bees.
The final controller is made of bees.
I hope Nintendo realizes how important exclusive EA Sports content could be for Wii U in the US.

BEES?The final controller is made of bees.
it's honestly THE most annoying thing about the 3DS circle pads. I've already ranted about it in this thread on 3 different occasions so I'll stop there, but so annoying.I never noticed them feeling sharp. Just the lack of grip.

Still can't believe how sharp that touchscreen looks. So bright, so colourful.

Especially if you're playing any game where you have to use it a lot, like Ocarina of Time for example, or whatever. It's just impossible. Your thumb could be hundred percent dry and clean, but after a little while of using it it just becomes slippery. No need to stop ranting about them if they're a problem. My thumbs slipped off a few times already while playing games due to lack of grip. They better fix it with the redesign.
Yes yes yes!Anyway, Nintendo, go black for the controller and console. It will look better and also help differentiate U as a new console.
I think the overall design doesn't look as sleek as it should. Probably in large part due to the sheer size of what surrounds the screen.
So far I'm not a fan of circle pads. Maybe the Wii-U ones will be better, but as of now the idea sucks to me. Would rather have sticks (that preferably click), but I'll even take non slippery circle pads with good grip.

Radial button layout with giant, center WIN button from the Wavebird was easily the greatest button design ever conceived. I miss it so.

Egg-zack-lee.
Mmmmm.
I hope Nintendo realizes how important exclusive EA Sports content could be for Wii U in the US. There are so many obvious additions for sports games that could A) only be done on Wii U and B) Would have huge "main stream/casual/dude bro" appeal.
I have previously suggested a "Play Book" app for Madden, where you can customize your playbook and design and practice plays on the DRC without actually running Madden. When you next fire up the game, it syncs up all the playbook customization.
Huh. The original design seems better in almost every single way that the two are different. Certainly making the controls not line up vertically would have been the dramatically better option. It's also nice that, while not necessary, the controller has two extra buttons that can be easily accessed with the right thumb without moving around the hands or contorting.
Any design that makes each button uniquely memorable gets a thumbs-up from me.

speaking of which what are the chances of me getting a WiiU in BLACK at launch?
My 3DS is Black
It would look more awesome if it were rounded instead of edgy like that.
In which way? Front or side view? It would look silly with a more rounded front.
The corners. The uPad has great corners.
