"I spent the whole of 2008 going round talking to publishers trying to sign up Timesplitters 4," he tells us. "There just isn't the interest there in doing anything that tries to step away from the rules of the genre - no one wants to do something that's quirky and different, because it's too much of a risk. And a large part of that is the cost of doing it.
Wonder if they ever tried Nintendo...not that it matters now.

Being banned sucks, especially when it's for something stupid that could have been avoided.
Or undeserved, both have happened to me.

Know what you mean chums. I got banned a while back for breaking a rule I didn't know existed. I'm not disputing the ban, I was fine with it, it's understandable. It's just that it was so unexpected which worries me, I'd hate for something similar to happen before E3. That'd suck so much, I am HYPED for this E3, chums, and I really can't wait to experience my first E3 with the people of this forum.

Aren't all of those releasing in Q2 or Q3 on other platforms? I guess I could count games releasing in September, but I'd generally consider ports even tardier than that (like DSII, Batman: AC, and NG3) irrelevant and a poor predictor of future third-party support.
In that case, I'd rule out (or at least note) the games coming from franchises already represented on Wii. Sonic, 007, Skylanders, Rayman, even COD were already well represented. Their absence would be bigger indicators than their presence.

Also look at a per-company basis...That's why I think games like DSII, Batman, and NG3 are still significant releases.

My source is my ass!
Well, this is the final month without solid information :p

I've left some of my biggest cartridges for these build-up times before E3.

Actually, i've heard news (not really spec-related, don't jump to "100x Xbox360 confirmed" please) REALLY comforting, in regard to something about the Wii U i touched upon before.

Ideamans hints about the OS having some secret stuff going on had me thinking.

Maybe the uPad just isnt the true "revolutionary" feature of the WiiU. Why would Nintendo show off their "main attraction" of their new console and then keep quiet for A FREAKING YEAR! (With a few tidbits in January and April). The OS (according to Ideaman) is kept a secret up until now. Someone (Maybe it was also Ideaman who posted it but im not sure) said that in June there would be new devkits. So they show their revolutionary OS feature/s on E3 and after that the final devkits with enabled OS features will be available for the developers.

The reason why the uPad was revealed so early was propably to throw of the competition, making them belive the uPad is THE thing of the WiiU. I think we really could be surprised by what the OS offeres and that could be a bigger thing that the uPad.

I don't think there is any doubt the Wii U OS/Online is going to be a major piece of the puzzle. I can't wait to see what they've got cooking. But I don't neccessarily expect them to go into details at E3. I think E3 will be very high level info about OS/online and games, games, games, games, games and then more games.

I think the online aspect of the Wii U is going to end up being surprisingly compelling. We've known since the last year's investor briefing that Nintendo doesn't intend to go it alone with their online strategy, that they've reached out to outside companies for help. I'm guessing that the OS is tied to their plans for online in a major way, including the StreetPass functionality that was leaked, as well as other unknown features.

First point is a good one, and I'll try to remember to make note of that when I do the big E3 update.

As for the latter, agree to disagree. "Better support from Publisher X than Wii" isn't that much of an achievement considering that the system got even worse support from most publishers than GC did, and I don't see ports aimed at a pretty tiny audience - people interested in HD multiplatform titles, but who never bothered to buy a PS3 or 360 - as being examples of serious support.

The comment from Matt about it being more fully featured than most people would believe, plus the comments from Ideaman, plus the amount of RAM that is apparently currently being locked up for the OS make me believe that it will be a pretty big deal. The features it offers and how the WiiU and the Pad will play into all of that certainly have me interested.

#8580, Shane Satterfield (Gametrailers editor-in-chief) claims Wii U launch lineup will be a very positive surprise (specific quote in #8697)

Shik must have found out something regarding the launch lineup.

Lol, every time I see that surname I think he might be a long lost relative. I always read it as 'Setterfield' at first, my surname! Do I win a prize..? Lol. Sorry to go off topic!!! ;oP

I'm glad ideaman is saving some bombs for later. We still got a month to go bros. Better to not blow our loads early. So he still has something power related and also something controller related right?

I say give 1 a week ideaman :p

I swear to all that is holy, I will disembowel you and use your entrails for my kids to play double dutch. I will then take a fat shit inside your empty stomach cavity and sew you back up so that you die a slow and painful death from gangreene. I might be kidding. But I might not. You wanna take that chance?

Hey, at least you never got a demeaning ban message telling you join GoBannedsite's forum. :/

And yes, I know I'll be preemptively banned before E3, but I promise you that will be the last one.

On topic, I want the MM reference.
I hope I am not playing with fire here but whats so ban worthy of metioning that site? Ive been following it since 06 and it always was cool to me.

For the bold part, i only reported the verge news from Polygon sources, actually i stated it was contradicting with what i know, that dev kits are wireless since a few months now, for big third-parties.

It doesn't totally invalidate the "new dev kits in June" info, but make me seriously doubt it, even in the rather unlikely scenario where their sources are a smaller developer stuck with a dev kit version with wired controllers. Those are wireless since a moment now, i can't imagine even an "indie" studio being left with a Wii U dev kit that would be MANY months old (i'll talk about dev kits "history" later in may).

And this new tease of mine, the message before, goes against this article even more.

Could have just come on stage next week and spouted out the details, instead he leaves us hanging.

Ah I didn't know Nintendo helped with it.

I'm already ambivalent at the touch screen controller idea (which appears to be a shambolic, ill focused, GCN controller redux) but if Wii U were to lose IR pointer functionality that would be the end of console gaming for me.

/Offtopic

I like this trackball functionality which really does improve targetting and aiming. ie offers a significant, incremental leap foward within existing controller design (although the tech is nothing new).

Err, umm. Touch screen = bad, trackball = good?

As much as I understand the frustration people have with IdeaMan's particular style of teasing, is it possible for people to knock off even silly-intended threats of harm to him? That kind of youtubery is not the sort of stuff that Nintendo fans should be made of.

edit: Hrm, I'm getting too serious-face today. Must be something in the free smoothies they gave out here at work.

hey it was some mini-bombs yesterday about the dev kits, legal stuff, software layer of the system, etc ><

can't do it everyday !

Then don't bring it up ):

Just makes me sad ):

I know, I'm just seeing the first signs of E3 Madness, the cyclical illness which claims many GAF accounts yearly. Things are getting… unhinged around here. To the point where the original title to this thread is… coming true!
dun Dun DUNNNNNNN!

Edit: Okay, gonna go see my folks now. You guys stay unbanned while I'm gone. Oh, and bring back that weevil fellow if you get the opportunity.

Fantastical

Death Prophet
I'd be more disappointed by Nintendo's core first-party output continuing to consist primarily of a small handful of long-running IP, but maybe that's just me.

Yeah I kind of hesitated with that post. If Retro is working on some amazing new IP I'll be very happy. But I still want my poor, abused Metroid.

Haven't been banned once while on GAF and I intend on keeping it that way. It's one of the reasons why I remain so low key even in communities I'm most active in on GAF. Lurking and watching everyone else walk amidst minefields is a thoroughly entertaining past time, especially as E3 nears.
