Been on here about 10 years, even before this place became hip and people started calling it Neogaf. I've only been banned 4 times, I think.

I'm pretty sure that if you remain a rational and sane person then you can last indefinitely. In my short time here I've only seen a couple of bans I would call bullshit and I think they were temp. Can't think of any perm bans I've personally seen that were unfair.

This thread makes me wonder... if an active gaffer were to ever die (and surely it has happened already) we will most likely never know about it. :s

I asked EviLore at one of the meet-ups which user had the most posts without being banned, and his guess was amir0x.

TWEEST

He guessed wrong, Amir0x was banned before he was made a mod. Hyoushi, Kabouter, Kagari, EatChildren, Red Scarlet, White Man, and m0dus (at least--I may be forgetting a few) were also banned at least once before becoming mods.

I wonder who has the highest ban total. I've been banned 10 or more times at least.

fartblast at 21 bans; PhoenixDark holds the record without being permed; you've been banned 12 times (tied for 22nd). The forum is so much bigger and busier now that I doubt anyone would have that kind of long leash again, nuisances are swept out much faster now.

i remember when solidsnakex got to 10000 posts and got a tag that said 'i have no life' and now everybody's got like 10000 posts

You can increase your GAF life expectancy a considerable amount if you don't post on the gaming side. haha...

If you look at my post history you can see that I pretty much post on the OT side exclusively.

Been here since '06 and zero bans.
0 bans just means youre boring!
I am boring. :(

Wow, wouldn't have figured that some of them had been banned. The question is, has EviLore ever been banned?

been here since like '99 or 2000. Only been banned 3 or 4 times that I can remember. Being banned can be flukey, but it's easy to avoid being perma'd.

Banned once in five years by dragona for nothing. I posted a picture of Andrew dice clay in response to.a.sexist joke someone made and she roasted me.

I'm not going to lie. Whenever I have to login, I fear seeing the dreaded message on the scree "Date ban lifted: Never". I hope to one day be a Mod here, although I don't think I have much of a chance to be honest

I've been a member since 2006, and been reading since 2005. Been banned once for recommending someone slash a rapist's tires.

One day blame space shall be a mod. Then, the world will truly be at peace.

I'd imagine the life expectancy of a gaffer is at minimum 25 considering that's my age.

Now that you've revealed your intent you've lost any chance you had.

I would bang a hot farmer!

How well did you do on the mod test? I only got 71%. :(

Been approved since mid-2004 so almost 7 years now with 1 ban. Browsed the place for some years beforehand but that dun count! Having to look at my profile before posting this made me think of an ideas! Profiles should have your member # somewhere besides the url, and in addition add a ban count # lol. C'mon GAF! You've taken away so many "features" that making these slight changes should be a fair enough thing ta do!

Now that you've revealed your intent you've lost any chance you had.

Thats how it seems ta go at every message board! That rule must be in the bullentin board license or something!

Knowing that makes me feel a little better. Discovering that even the most powerful figureheads of Neogaf came from (presumably) humble backgrounds.

The question is, has EviLore ever been banned?

The real question is, has bishoptl ever been banned?

Since 98 (when gaming-age was a website with a forum).

Banned once or twice. Last time was for my stance on fathers reproductive rights (or lack there of)

1999 here, too. I post far less and have all but stopped playin' the videogames, but still consider GAF a second home of sorts.

Been here since 2004. The only time I was banned was when I stumbled into a (poorly titled) WWE thread and got a short ban for cracking wise. Was probably in 2006? Heh.

I don't understand why you would be banned for that.

People shouldn't be banned for their opinions/things they admit to having done in real life no matter how disgraceful they may be. Bans should be for three things:

1) Spoilers

2) Insulting other Gaffers/intentionally trying to offend or piss people off

3) Disrupting the flow of the message board (spamming, intentionally ruining threads, etc)

Other bans are essentially thought policing.

since 1998/99 who knows, it was a long time ago.

the board was smaller, moved every other month (this maybe an exaggeration but not by much) and had some very interesting cats posting. The Dreamcast v PS2 debates had some classic meltdowns.
