A LOT. Nintendo is going to blow their load completely.

Pikimin
NSMBWiiU
Retro's title
Moonlith Soft's title
Miyamoto's New IP
Eternal Darkness 2
Wii-U Sports
+
3-5 more

Think I'm being to optimistic? Look at what Iwata has been saying lately and look back at how many Nintendo projects we knew about when the 3DS came out.

Exactly, Nintendo saw what happened with the 3DS launch, and Miyamoto came out and said the Vita wasn't a strong product because of limited software. They will go big.

There are definitively unannounced titles from third-parties, scheduled for the launch period (up to 2 months after the system release). However, informed people helped with some hints here & there + sleuthing on the web resulted in the expectation/semi-acknowledgment of some of them. But there will be surprises, from third-parties.

For first-party titles, we'll see at E3, but it's likely we'll have unexpected games if what we anticipate from them is limited to Pikmin 3 + NSMB Wii U + a gamer title (Retro ?).

The surprising comment could also describe the overwhelming aspect of the launch line-up, because it's shaping-up to be the most diverse and highest in software quantity that we ever saw on a Nintendo platform.

Random question: Assuming we can digitally download every game for Wii U, are you going to go digital when Wii U drops? Still gonna keep collecting boxes? Are you a sick freak and plan on picking up both the physical release and digital release?

Cleaning my house today, I've realized that my games are kinda taking up a whole hell of a lot of room. As much as I love collecting boxes, I think I might be going digital next gen. It's just so damn convenient. Of course, there are exceptions (Mario, Pokemon Zelda), but on the whole, it looks like digital is the way to go.

Not to mention picking up a Japanese Wii U/3DS and not having to go through Play-Asia/super expensive import shop/getting Pokemon 6 months before North America is going to be sweet.

it depends on the game for me. I'll gladdly buy a game like animal crossing digitally, but a game like Zelda or a Monolith game, I think I'd rather buy. I don't really have a criteria though, just what I feel.

It matters what the game is and what time they are uploaded to the Nintendo servers.

Something about buying digitally bothers me so I'm not sure.

I may do both for very few select titles as stupid and a waste of money as that seems.

As of now, I'll probably still get the physical copies at the stores.

Digital really does have some nice advantages when it comes to freeing up space. My PC collection got so large overtime I started to resort to just stacking discs in spindles based on genre because it saved me a ton of room.

I think there will be major titles I will want to own physically for the sake of owning them like Zeldas. I mean I still have my original NES Zelda with its box and all the inserts etc while other nes games are just the games.

The problem here is 3DS needs accounts instead of FCs, with Wii U it may be fine (since it's rumored to have accounts).

You know, I love my boxes, but I think digital may actually be the way to go for me. It's definitely convenient for one, as you mentioned, but it's also a safer bet in the long run. You'll be able to download that title forever no matter what happens to your system or anything. A disc though can get scratched, and you can't just get another one of those for free.

Personally I'll stay retail mostly. I usually only go digital, if it's a game that I skip, and therefore is a pain to find new somewhere. You are right though, those cases take up a ton of room if your not just a casual gamer, I got drawers and totes, that were meant for clothes packed with games.

Digital is nice for games I am going to play a lot. Multiplayer games (especially fighters) are extremely useful to have on harddrives.

But I find that even when I have the option, like with the Vita, I still buy physical media. Persona 4 is going to be a game I will get day one, but why would I buy on PSN if I am unlikely to play it more than once? Until DD offers me a real good deal (I am talking Steam-style deals) or I am really crunched for space, physical generally seems like a better deal.

The ideal solution would be Physical + Installs, but you know, Nintendo's not going to do that.

Oh damn. This doesn't mean WiiU<360 though, right?
Depends what you determine to be "functionally superior", like the 360 can play DVDs, the Wii U probably won't!

I'll probably just go for the best deal I can find in many cases. For some like Animal Crossing for puzzle games I'd probably go digital (cause I'd want to play them long term, but not necessarily all the time, it'd just be more convenient that way), but for others I'll just get the cheapest I can find. I'm hoping with the whole retail-digital strategy they're doing, stores will discount digital stuff just like they discount the regular games.

As much as I would like to say that i will always stick to physical games, the convenience of digital distribution is really convincing. I will definitely be getting the major games and the games that I know I really want on disc, but I'll probably use the eshop to get games that I may be on the fence about.

Skiesofwonder

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
What do you guys think about Miyamoto's new IP???

Downloadable game(yes, I know all retail Wii U games will supposedly be that or most of them) but I mean Wii U Ware or retail???

I still think it has something to do with a underwater-theme. Maybe a creature that lives underwater but is forced to travel on land to complete whatever objective Nintendo comes up with. Said creature can only breath so long on land, and must make the most of his time up there. Gameplay on the TV would be on-land segments, while underwater segments would take place on the Wii-U pad screen. I imagine it would be both retail and digital.

This is just crazy speculation of course. :p

fuck...that would be amazing. Too bad it's too good to be true.

Bullshit, you're nextdoor neighbors with Miyamoto and have seen his new hobby/pet.

Crazy if true.

By the way, if Nintendo knows how to present NFC... they will swim in money.

More than 30 million Skylanders figurines were sold

You think that is something? watch thq rage when they realise that giving up their kids franchises just as the whole NFC thing skyrockets not just for developers but for toy manufacturers in the likes of lego disney and pokemon.

even games workshop can get in on the action warhammer+NFC can be a bone that i will throw thq. Lego will be huge combined with their games and nfc. Collectables in Japan might also get a boost with some videogame tie in as long as its not a gatch gatcha situation

Yep, that would be perfect. I prefer retail, but like someone said above, if the disc gets ruined somehow you're screwed, it's only happened to one game, in my life, but it's always possible. Install would fix everything, but yeah, won't happen.

See, everybody like & use teases in this industry :) A new one from Gaijin Games for Bit.Trip.Runner 2 (we already know a Wii U version is coming with all their past comments)

It's PUN-DAY !

btw, all those news reported since a few months about indie/small/focused on digital content companies reeks a certain enthusiasm in regard to Wii U eShop/DD aspect, they clearly have fun teasing about their participation, and enjoy being on board. Prepare your credit cards, Nintendo Network will ruin us, more than retail titles in the end !

But, well, it's specific teasing. It'd be great if you teased like that.

Literally saying stuff like "how many gigs of RAM? Eh, not 2 many..." or "as far as whether the screen is multitouch, never underestimate Nintendo's capacity to surprise us."

Crazy if true.

Sounds great it true.

But now that I think about it, all I really need is one killer app at launch. Super Mario Bros, Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Luigi's Mansion/SSBM, Twilight Princess... Nintendo's console launches have all had that one killer app. Everything else is just a cherry on top.

New Super Mario Bros Mii and a bunch of third party games just doesn't cut it for me. Now I'm really hoping Pikmin 3 is there day 1.
