The Wii U Speculation Thread V: The Final Frontier

Status
Not open for further replies.
Of the big titles coming out this year that don't have any hints of WiiU confirmation:

Borderlands 2
Resident Evil 6
Max Payne 3
Hitman: Absolution
Devil May Cry
Far Cry 3
Grand Theft Auto 5 (could be this year, we'll see)

Which would you most like to see be confirmed for WiiU at E3?

EDIT: Forgot my pick. Definitely Borderlands 2.

GTA 5. I could see rockstar doing something interesting with the Upad.

If BL2 doesn't come out for Wii U I will be slightly depressed.

Hey, I was once again only responding to a conversation that was not in anyway started by me. The only one bringing it up when the discussion is over is you. No one is disregarding the TOS, and no one has launched a personal attack against you. If the conversation sways to the topic of you then I have every right to state my opinion on it.

For the TOS and the personal attacks, the bashing from a few members two days ago was full of it, it was witnessed and irritated members even not too kin of my posting style. It went overboard for 1 or 2 posters, it was intolerable.

And why do you feel this urge to express this negative opinion about me like everytime my nickname appears ? Even after we settled this by PM yesterday ? The lherre post is available for everyone to read, and as the thread 2 proves it, i myself asked for him to just legitimate my info, not me (this is not the relevant matter). And i have every rights, when i come back from work and hope to participate in a friendly thread but see again the same two guys insinuating that i'm like a fraud, to answer them.

Just do a search from speculation thread 2 to this one, username: skiesofwonder, then ideaman in the keyword, i'm sorry but i don't find this normal to stress this much, like systematically, how you doubt someone. And it's clearly not good for the thread climate.

But as i'm <censored>ing tired of reading the same bitter posts of the same 4 or 5 guys since a moment, and as this behavior is seemingly tolerated by TPTB (because this is a "junkyard thread"), i'll do an ultimate effort to legitimate my info, even if the test of time (E3) will prove several things. But then, i'll wait some straight apologizes from some folks that plainly disrespected me. Expressing doubts, keeping cool heads, grain of salts, i pushed people to do so. But one must do it in a civil, polite, and good for the thread atmosphere manner.

Thanks for all the great info over the last few months IdeaMan. I believe it created alot of conversation, and great speculation ideas.

No worries IdeaMan, I believe you.
Even if some information may be slightly off I won't blame you, because its 2nd hand information.

That's his task. He is the hero this thread deserves. They will hunt him. They will talk about him. But he can live with it. He's IdeaMan.

Avengers: Battle for Earth just increases my long held suspicion that the Wii U sensor bar will include a camera, with Kinect-lite functionality. It just doesn't make sense for the DRC sensor bar to have a camera, and the TV sensor bar would not.

I posted a message mixing some infos from Ubi job offers about an hypothetic Just Dance 4, that tends to hint towards a use of one of the Wii U camera (for the moment the DRC's, but it could be a USB one, etc.) à la Kinect.

I, like many others, appreciate the various bits of info from ideaman and others aswell. It's what keeps this thread alive and fuels, for the most part, informative discussion.

You have an entire cult of people around you in this thread that kiss the very ground you walk on and hang on your every word, and yet you still can't handle two or three posters having some doubts about your legitimacy?
Just move on. Take the good with the bad. For all our sakes.

I would like to point out that IdeaMan delivers a lot of really great posts which have absolutely nothing to do with NDA'd information, like his repeated attempts to get people to speculate on game play possibilities on the controller. Anything that gets the cranium … craniuming is a positive for this thread.

He also posts a lot of news items that have nothing to do with his own divulgings.

He also posts about stuff that he's hoping to see in the future, game-wise.

All these posts form the vast, vast, incredible majority of his writings on these threads. The stuff people seem to have a chip about are a tiny, tiny minority of his posts.

I feel that this aspect of this person is not getting due respect.

That legitimately looks like a paper cutout DRC and oilpainted screen.

A paper controller packed in with the "New Super Paper Mario"? I'm in!

Just ignore those raging people. They ignore the sense of the word "tease". And they just don't understand that we can't say everything because:
It would be against NDA
It would ruin E3 surprises

I don't wanna know everything, so I'm kinda happy that the knowledge-holders are showing such restraint. We're sooooo close, and we've come so far.. the payoff during E3 week could be better than anything we've ever seen.

So thank you, IdeaMan and others, for teasing and hinting - but not completely spoiling us.

You know I'll be disappointed if Metroid Prime 4 doesn't use the nunchuck+wiimote setup. That was the best approach for that game in my opinion. Playing it on a Wiipad would feel like taking a step back.

Ideaman, just ignore anyone who tries to bait you into an argument.

You've made this thread very fun and interesting, and the majority of us are glad to have you here.

Even a real time map with customizable destinations would be a huge plus for me. I always found it very tedious to pause my game just to check full map or set a waypoint.

Absolutely. All open world games will benefit from this on the Wii U. Thats whats so awesome about the Upad, it doesnt even really take a brilliant idea to make a huge difference, even what seems to be something small, will be brilliant!

I think it would be somewhat interesting to have the ability to re-watch/listen the last cutscene on the Upad during gameplay, or just something to get story details that may have been missed or over looked.

I'd be interested in seeing games that use both controllers. For example, you could explore normally with the nunchuck/wiimote, and then hit a room where you'd need to use the controller pad, so you'd hit a button that shifts action to the controller pad for scanning or some other interesting function.

I can have 150 doubters, i'm perfectly fine with it, the history of those threads prove that 90% of the time, i'm not quoting these posts, it's totally their rights, i expected this kind of messages since the very start. It's when 2 or 3 are repeating it like every day, and sometimes with borderline disrespect, that i react.

Something from Lucas Arts it seems.

Yeah but being listed under the mmo category on mapyourshow could also describe a heavy multiplayer mode of a FPS, like the one of Battlefront 3.

Oh and i definitively would LOVE to have a Rogue Squadron MMO, basically a persistent and heavy online multi-player Star Wars space shooter on Wii U :p

That sounds way too cumbersome imo.

I'll bet you there isn't going to be a Metroid Prime 4. And if there's a new Metroid, it won't be part of the "Prime" series and it won't be made by Retro.

As I mentioned earlier today I can easily see the Upad used this way... sitting up in its stand next to (or under) the TV and used in conjunction with the Wiimotes.

I didn't know about Just Dance 4, between that and The Avengers announcement it almost verifies this kind of use.

Did you heard some infos since one year about the Wii U prototypes brought at E3 2011, how the games/demos ran on those, etc ? Don't have the time to check with tons of keywords combinations on google.

Wouldn't mind seeing a Prime game for the 3DS, actually. All the buttons you'd need are there, although you'd have to replace the C-Stick with the touch screen. Don't think you could use the analog triggers, either, but then I don't think Prime ever DID...

No way in hell is Nintendo going to reveal the final designs of the controller,
or the innards of the WiiU via patents prior to E3. Thats probably just to throw people off their scent. Keep 'em guessing.
