The newspeculation :)p) about a sequel to Tales of Symphonia on Wii U has been posted ? It's spreading on da French Web

Interesting. We know a new tales is being announced before E3 but thats it. Kinda logical to get a new audience but will have to see. Somehow the French media seems ot get things pretty quickly :p

I can't imagine Bamco wanting to not make a game for the PS3 at this point, considering Xillia's crazy success. Unless they're making 2 games simultaneously for different consoles.

this is why Nintendo betting on CORE support will not work even someone who posts here will not support the WiiU version

sad for Nintendo... you should have made the Wii HD from the start

Don't count on it. Personally I totally intend to get this on Wii U (along with everything else third party I buy this Fall wherever possible.). If it isn't there then it'll probably be PC next.

I have a PS3 but I intend to drop it for PC/ WiiU at least until Orbis/Durango launch.

Bear in mind I play 99% single player and local multiplay only these days.

Hopefully, the Wii U is the go-to system for jRPGs next gen. So I guess a new "Tales of" is a good thing. Anybody else into jRPGs and not care for Tales, though? Even the supposedly good entries, like Vesperia, were just irritating to me.

Another Tales of Symphonia on Wii U ?

Basically, at this recent Tokushima event, there was an exhange with Yoshizumi & some voice-actors from the games and the anime, that could hint toward another sequel or a remake on Wii U.

There is a thread about it, the producer said he wanted to do a remake on PSP but it was not possible, then Lloyd VA asked about Wii U and he said "Huh?".

Edit: Here's the thread

and

Machi Asobi Report:
http://blog.esuteru.com/archives/6184163.html
http://tokkurin.net/archives/50767173.html#more

-There will be an announcement at Tales of Festival
-There will be new 3DS, PSP, and Vita titles according to Yoshizumi.
-Yoshizumi said he wanted to remake TOS on the PSP, but it apparently exceeded the PSP's limitations too much, even moreso than TOA. (Which is probably why TOA's on the 3DS.)
-The Symphonia OVA has a different ending than the game; it's release date might be postponed.
-They were debating whether or not to make a sequel to Ratatosk(?!), it seems like they decided against it. (I am not kidding about this.)
-ufotable will be in charge of animation for the next game
-Konishi (the voice of Lloyd) asks Yoshizumi if they would consider remaking Symphonia for the WiiU, to which Yoshizumi responds with a "Huh?".
-Yoshizumi says they are considering the WiiU for future Tales.

Didn't we get the sequel on Wii?

Lalalala I am not listening XD, too bad it was a mediocre sequel. If Nintendo can get a Tales game on the Wii U, Japan will love it =p and will help it alot, but then it'll be ported to PS3 or something XD. Didn't the last Tales game do exceptional well in comparison to FFXIII-2?

what would people think of nintendo releasing two pricing options for the WiiU?

Standard upfront

$349 1 tablet one wiimote+ nunchuck 1 pack in game 2 downloads/free software apps. free online.
$99 extra tablet

contract

$99 plus $15 a month 24 months 2 tablets 1 pack in game one wiimote+nunchuck 2 downloads/apps and free online.

How would this affect the perception of the console by sonsumers seeing as its a new console with a new option for a pricing structure. big department chains already do this in aome countries with payment plans but what about an official one?

I don't like the idea myself but is it a viable option for those who are price sensitive? if a console gets banned you can pay a fee to get it unbanned. $99 would be a good fee but all your stats get reset to 0 and you are forced to use a new username and contacts list. this might mitigate piracy and alleviate having to pay a termination fee which would be about the same amount as the fine plus what is left of the contract.

Is the Unreal Engine 4 really going to be as signification as we think? A part of me feels like its just going to be UE3+ with some tweaks. And like Ace said, the thing probably isn't going to be used mainstream for a while.

I'd love a sequel. Wasn't the one for Wii a spinoff?

No, it was a sequel with a spin off's budget.

Regardless, it'll be a huge mental barrier for third parties if it can't run on the Wii U. It's in Nintendo's best interest to make it happen.

more than likely yes.

Tales game haven't done that well on Nintendo platforms actually.

Outside of Symphonia of course. However, perhaps the next console title would be a good target for a dual WiiU/PS3 release. It seems like both Nintendo consoles and Sony consoles have audiences that would buy such a game.

Well its important as a talking point mostly. It seems like the engine won't really get heavy adoption until we are well into the generation with all 3 consoles.

My source is my ass!
IT'S IDEA TIME !

A Tales of Symphonia Wii U remake, shipped with a Colette NFC figurine that you would put close to the padlet, the near field communication feature will acknowledge it, then you'll have to punch it for the DRC to detect a sudden move of the chip inside, then it will trigger a cool multi-character special giga attack on the screen !!

You know, on the scan of the "Next Tales Of" tease, one part actually translates to "Next Generation Tales".

They can't really announce a Tales of for PS4/XNext now, can they? *hint hint*

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.

Well, putting the next mainline Tales on a completely unproven platform instead of PS3 would fit in with how Namco does things.

Which is why I don't get all of the fuss for it. It's like we are forgetting other just as capable engines. Cry3, Frostbite 2(not sure if it is confirmed), Crystal Tools, etc seem to be just as necessary.

Is it because the UE is very scale-able/versatile?

And we'll never see it outside of Japan.

Well, it was thanks to Nintendo that we got Symphonia here. (It's also why we didn't get the PS2 version here, that being said...)

I don't know about Ratatosk, but if the new game is related to Symphonia, I think there's more chance for it coming over. Especially if it's a remake to the first Symphonia.

I agree with you 100%.

I really don't know why Nintendo are even bothering going after the 'core' market again, the last time they did the console sold 21 million units and they were abandoned by the third parties yet again.

The big games for these 'core' gamers are Call of Duty, Madden, Fifa, WWE, Assassin's Creed ect which they can already play on their PS3 or 360.

Sure it will be nice for guys that only own a Wii to be able to play these games when Wii U launches (how many gamers actually only own a Wii ?) but do Nintendo really expect people who do own one of those consoles to buy the Wii U version when they can add to their Acheivement / Trophy haul and play the MP with their friends who will most likely laugh at them when they tell them they have bought a Wii U and have statements like 'should of waited for the PS4 / 720 dudebro !!!' thrown at them.

Those 'core' gamers are tied to their consoles through their profiles which include all their friends and Achievements / Trophies.

The Wii U should have been out for last Xmas imho, that would have given it two whole years of a start on the PS4 / 720 and the exclusive games would have looked even more impresive.

I tell you what, unless Nintendo have something truly earth shattering to announce software wise at E3, i could see the Wii U struggling just as bad as the 3DS at launch.

A proper 3D Mario game along with Metroid and Starfox would have been much more of a draw.

Yet another NSMB and a sequel to one of Nintendo least know franchises will just not cut it imo.

A lot of 360 only gamers have bought Kinect for their casual / family / kid fix and upgraded to PS3 for a Blu Ray player and the Sony exclusives they missed.

A Tablet pad and those two first party games will NOT convince the 'core' gamer to part with $300 at the least for a Wii U console and Pikmin 3, esp when MS announces the 720 in Jan and Sony announce PS4 at next years E3 (which if rumoures are to be believed PS4/720 will be at least twice as powerful as Wii U).

When will they learn that the 'core' will never take anything with Nintendo nevermind Wii stamped on it seriously.

They should have stuck to what made the Wii successful, use the gimmick (tablet pad), lots of casual / family / kids games and give us 9 or 10 of their more core exclusive first party IP's just like the Wii, just like the NES, just like the SNES and just like the N64.

By E3 2013 i doubt Wii U will have sold 10 million consoles, we will all have completed Pikmin 3 and will be waiting years for a proper Mario, Metroid, Zelda... as a huge Nintendo fan that saddens me.

I think you are severely underestimating both what happened with the Wii and what Nintendo are trying to do with the Wii U.
Yes, the Wii was huge. Massive, even. But it came at a cost. And that cost was sustainability. It was not a practice that could be cared on for very long (as we've seen, Wii sales world wide are in sharp decline and software has all but dried up.).

They need the core audience. Just as much as they need the casual one. You have to build a system that appeals to both. Simply aiming one way or the other is a sure fire way to failure.

The Wii's focus was far too narrow, the Wii U's will not be.

I also think you are not giving Nintendo enough credit at drawing people in, but we'll see at E3. Saying what they will have or what they should have done, before we even know....

AC3 isn't going to be what makes me get a Wii U. A fun game that's made for the Wii U is going to be what makes me get a Wii U.

Good and fair point. I don't have an HD console now (who has the time?), but I agree.

The question is, since you/we/us are posting and following these crazy threads and assumedly will be there day 1 on Wii U, are there 3rd party games that you would buy on Wii U?

Maybe something like Aliens: CM or another non-series game?

You're forgetting how ephemeral the "core" market is. All it takes is a new smash hit to get them to hop onto. COD will not last forever, there will be something to overtake it, same with AssCreed, BF3 etc. Nintendo has the titles, they just don't have the image.
Yes, I realize how incredibly odd that sounds, but people are afraid of being called out for playing Nintendo games, since they are perceived as "kiddie". Its the most shallow thing in the world, to be playing a console based on image, but unfortunately, this is how self-conscious people are. The even crazier thing is that this all started this gen with the Wii.
Rebuilding the company's image is the way to go IMO.
It's a shame they have to, but...
