The Wii U Speculation Thread VI: The Undiscovered Country

Sorry guys been struggling to keep up :p.

Read in the Darksiders II thread that the Wii U is now rumored to have a custom 6770 GPU ?, i thought a lot of the tech guys in here thought the Wii U would struggle to get a 4770 with the size of the case ect.

I thought the 6770 was the rumored 720 GPU.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I was really afraid of the dark/being alone in my room when I was a kid so I would stay up until all hours of the night and read Nintendo Power in my bathroom with the shower light on. It was really comforting actually. Childhood <3

I had to have lots of bloodwork done when I was a kid, so my weekly ritual was to sit in the blood draw chair with Mom, and an issue of Nintendo Power. She'd flip through the pages asking me, "Who's this character? And who's this? And what are her powers?"

Before I knew it, the bloodwork would be done, thanks to Mom and NP. <3

I had to go to the hospital to get a giant needle pulled out of my foot because my mom was finally renewing my Nintendo Power subscription and I got so excited I stepped on the thing accidentally! I didn't care though because I got a free Eternal Darkness Player's Guide out of it.

The oldest Nintendo Power related thing I know I still have is the Super Mario Bros. 3 Players Guide.
My best friend's older brother gave me this baby when I was 8, still got it:

It won't be the GPU for either.

Haha, made me smile.

I used to get free issues of the official magazine whenever I wrote to Nintendo.

I want a playdough looking Mario game.

Call me naive, but to this day I still feel like Nintendo genuinely cares about it's customers, especially the kid ones. From Miyamoto all the way down to the nice customer service lady who stayed on the phone and talked to me about Super Mario Sunshine as my mom drove me to the hospital to go have surgery.

Man I hope Nintendo Power is available digitally on the Nintendo Network. I would love to read back issues on that pad.

That would be lovely.. being able to pull-up Nintendo Power on the uPad while watching TV, or being able to bring-up a player's guide while playing.

As tempting as the prospect of more power may be, I'm still interested in seeing what's done with that pad.

My sister bought a SNES with her communion money so I'm fortunate to be able to say that my first was SNES. I'm probably the same age as those of you who got in with the N64 tho.

I wrote a letter to NP and included a picture I made in Mac Paint. They published it in the Ninja Gaiden issue. I couldn't fricken believe it. I think I was in 6th grade at the time.

EDIT: no it was the original Ninja Gaiden issue. Damn I'm old.

My first NP:
My 12 year old self couldn't handle both the Super Paper Mario and Super Mario Galaxy preview in ONE magazine. Me and my friend would sit at a table at lunch with the new Nintendo Power magazine, and all of our other friends would all sit in a circle together, reading these magazines. I miss those days. :(

And yeah... I'm young... LOL

I was going to say the same thing, haha. I remember getting my NES back in 89. And Lord, now I feel so old =(
Bah, 'yer all a buncha young'uns. When I was 4 my dad bought one of these, and I played the heck out of it:

Then when I was 7 or 8 we got an Atari 2600 and I REALLY played the heck out of that.

Then I think I was 12ish when we got an NES.

I had a Gamecube as my first Nintendo home console. Was a PS1 lad. Had a mate with a SNES though, so it's all good.

I started gaming on my older brothers Coleco. I was four wasting quarters on tabletop Pacman. Dig Dug.

I've been gaming since I could pick up a joystick.

I don't really consider myself that old for the gamers I know. I'm only 28.

Newer gamers missed out on some great stuff. Cool thing about today though? Really easy to get ahold of those old games. Harder to do so legitimately though. But getting much easier.

I admit to getting a bit of passing enjoyment out of those games in a controller. Loaded up with an assortment of namco classics. Wal-Mart for $9.99!

I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but I'd like to think I'm smugly judging all of you born after 1990.

Ahh.. someone more in my age class. It was 1982 when I got my Atari. Still have it, and it still works.

Imagine the next Nintendo console coming with an external difficulty switch.. :)

That thing... looks amazing.
It's a gimmick! A gimmick, I tell you!

I've never even seen one of those. That thing looks awesome.

This was mine (or at least, the earliest one I still have):

I was like ZOMG a sequel to Gold/Silver already??

Then I found out it was just an expansion...

The next one I got, probably later that year:

It was fricking STACKED. It was as thick as a textbook. Crazy amount of content.

Apparently it's on eBay for $26. :O
