Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Dark/Demon's Souls is Zelda 1.

So... I read Oddduck's coment about the analogue stick being clickable..
was it confirmed?

John Harker, who is confirmed by the mods to have good sources, stated it as if was a fact. He also used the term "sticks" even though it was before the controller leak. Not officially confirmed, but his info should be legit.

Here is my dream Wii U Zelda game:

Starts with Link as a ranger, roaming the outskirts of the kingdom on Epona, where he is ambushed by a gang of demons. He's clubbed over the head, looted and left for dead on the side of the rode.

He's awoken by a sage-looking old man, with memory loss. The old man tells him it's "dangerous to go alone", hands him a sword, a map and a compass.

The map and compass are displayed on the DRC, and you venture off into the unknown, exploring and discovering Hyrule.

These Zelda ideas always get me so excited.

Here is mine:
-Link starts off in a very atmospheric setting (this is child Link btw). He sits alone in a cave. It is pouring outside and so he can't leave or see anything.
-He falls asleep and all the screens go dark. On the U-pad pops up a little fairy who tells Link that he is needed somewhere and that he needs to go help.
-Link wakes up. The mouth of the cave is bright with morning light. The player takes control of Link inside the cave. Once he travels outside, a cutscene reveals that Link is atop a mountain.
-From his position on the mountain, all of Hyrule can be seen clearly. The most notable landmark being Hyrule castle which is near the mountain.
-The player once again takes control of Link and they need to figure out for themselves who the person is that needs their help.
-The only item Link has is a sword/shield and paper/pencil. The paper will allow the player to draw their own map as they travel through the mountain Link is on.

Is that actually true? Is there a precedent in the video game industry?

I don't see how actual legal action makes sense for Nintendo, unless they feel like really going to work on the guy. It's not like they'd recoup the time, money and resources by a legal victory. The threat of legal action should be enough to make the point.

I wonder if TT had to pay some sort of fine? I know Nintendo NDAs are notoriously strict, doesn't seem implausible that they'd include a heafty fine for breaking NDA in the fine print.

Busy all day talking nice summer walks outside and getting fresh air in between playing Earthbound, I miss anything?

Koichi Hayashida (Super Mario 3d Land's director) said in the Nintendo Power interview that Nintendo has a 2D Mario team (obviously EAD 4) and a 3D Mario team (EAD Tokyo). I doubt they would have the 3D team make a 2D edition.

Which volume of NP was this in?

The threat of legal action is not much of a threat if you do not bite back. Just showing fangs isnt enough in the long run. They dont have to go after him for a million dollars or anything. They just have to follow through. That said the real damage is already done. Considering he was a near entry level guy he will never get a job again.

My aunt & uncle run a Mom & Pop store, "The Gamecube Hut", and sold 80k WiiU within minutes of opening.
Wouldn't it be TT Games that would sue him, not Nintendo?

TT would be the primary source of any lawsuit but Nintendo could if they decided to go after him depending on certain circumstances.
TT is going to do whatever Nintendo asks at this point because Nintendo is publishing the game they are making etc. Nintendo could pull the plug and royally screw the studio over if it was the old days.

Hmm just noticed that Eidos Montreal might be working on the Wii U based on a listing as is Disney Interactive Studios.

Sounds nice if you asked me, but I would like to see a bit more ram.

Yeah... no. The IBM 710, or more precisely IBM pSeries Power 710 Express, is a real, full-blow POWER7 in a 2u rackmount case, not a specific processor. The CPU driving that thing is powerful as fuck. So powerful in fact that going by what lherre wrote, Microsoft would need alien technology and liquid nitrogen cooling to top it. We're talking about the most powerful CPU available right now, something that makes an Intel Xeon Nehalem look like a pocket calculator.

It doesn't seem like the same thing though. It sounded like a four core variation / derivation of that CPU.

1.5GB-2GB is what you can all expect. If it ends up lower Nintendo will have pulled the rug out from under all of our feet and you can expect developers to be very angry

Again, what makes you think we can expect this? If the system is on par with PS3 and 360 as numerous sources have reported, wouldn't that be around 512MB of RAM?

BG, didn't you kind of say that it was basically gonna be 2gb? Or that you believed that was the case or something (rather than 1.5).

it's not on par, those rumours were bullshit. It's better.

sorry but no other way to say it

In IdeaMan/bgassassin we trust, I suppose.

But, from what we've heard, they aren't angry.

well when I say angry I mean more in the case of a sudden last minute change that will make people mad in other words there is no way it ends up less. Ram is one area I think everyone can agree Nintendo doesnt tend to undercut.

I do look forward to seeing how optimized they can get their OS though so we can see what extra resources are freed up.

No need to apologize to me, I'm buying WiiU either way. I just don't trust Nintendo to not screw something up on the hardware side of things.

it's all good in the hood, and I'm with you, Nintendo is totally weird and will mess up something somewhere but I don't think it'll be in RAM, since so many sources here and elsewhere basically confirm 1.5-2.

Maybe you'll see that those "on par" rumors aren't accurate. :)

So it won't be 1-2gb or it will?

That's a wide range there. It won't be less than 1.5GB for certain.

Yes. I think it's safe to say the final will have a total of 2GB of memory. Excluding eDRAM of course.

They will save their screw up for when they reveal the new Mini Blu Rays that only hold 15GB of data ;)

This is not real. Dont post it kotaku!

Say what you want about Nintendo hardware design, but RAM is NEVER something they fuck around with. EVER.

So 1.5GB minimum RAM? Wow.

No offense, though, but why do we believe you to have insider information? Who are you, Man with the Tangerine Foreskin Avatar?

It's obvious the screw up will be that they are using 2GB of lpddr2.

That's the fun part. Am I worth believing?

Numerous sources have said on par numerous have said more powerful so we'll just have to wait and see.

No it'll be 1.5-2 GB

THIS but I get the feeling Nintendo's misstep will be on the software side not the hardware side....
