well you do have that much memory, technically. maybe it's counting it properly, so its really using 1 gig of memory on each of your two cards. the game is 25 gigs due to high resolution textures and its probably going to use a lot of your vram to have the textures on their highest. So what's up with the video memory usage display?
It's says I have 3000 but that obviously isn't true. SLI doesn't work that way. In DX11 with everything maxed except MSAA it says it's already 2000/3000. How can that be?
I don't know what they did, but I decided to play with a ps3 controller (emulated as an Xbox controller) and it's great. Playing on multiplayer and getting third to first place every match (no auto aim). I DID try a match or two with soft lock/ aim or whatever. It was meh. Even with a controller locking on is terrible and way to easy... so that mode is more about shooting first... so I'll stick to non auto aim. Game runs like a charm, but MSAA is useless and mouse feels weird. Sometimes you get stuck at steps or in doors. And most changes to settings requires a restart of the game. Firefights are intense and to me it feels like a MUCH better version of uncharted multiplayer.
I disagree, gameplay wise it feels exactly like Max Payne, enter room-->bullet time-->headshots-->bullet dodge-->clear room. The story is on par with at least Max Payne 2, I haven't beat MP3 yet, but I'm pretty sure I know what is going to happen just as I did with MP2.Finally got the game going and enjoying it so far. It doesn't feel like Max Payne though. I always got a surreal over the top vibe from the previous two games, which is definitely missing in this sequel.
I have to admit that I do own a retail copy of the game- but could only get it running with a cracked .exe.
MSAA is definitely bugged... I notice more jaggies with it on (though maybe it turns off FXAA when enabled).

It's definitely not as surreal but neither was MP2, MP1 for sure but 2 never gave me the surreal impression where as 1 broke the 4th wall all the time and was awesome as a result. I would say, so far that MP3's writing is on par if not better than MP2, I'm on chpt. 10 for what that's worth. Many people put MP2 on a pedestal which I don't get as it wasn't leagues better(story wise) than the first one.
LoL PS3 controller? I am down to try w/ my 360 pad, but I never could get my PS3 controller to work on PC. Kudos to you sir.
And as a big fan of the original games, this really feels like MP to me. I know it's a more vibrant game, but the character of Max is still intact. At least to me, and I am glad : )
If you don't mind putting up some spoilers, I'm actually curious to see what you think is going to happen. It is predictable, but I've already finished the game myself and I'd like to see how spot on your thoughts might actually be.I disagree, gameplay wise it feels exactly like Max Payne, enter room-->bullet time-->headshots-->bullet dodge-->clear room. Lay it on me!

Using a Ps3 controller is really easy. Just download Motionjoy, load up the drivers and then emulate it in the program as a 360 controller. Works like a charm .
How is the free aim community player wise so far in the pc game? How many ppl are playing free aim?

Hmmm that doesn't bode well for the retail release.
I still can't decide between retail or steam. I was going retail because of the bandwidth but are there issues with the retail release?
Anyone using a 360 controller on the PC version? Any problems setting it up or has it been smooth sailing?
Yup, MSAA's expensive as hell. Not really worth it IMO.
I only played the first part of chapter 1, so no explosions or anything, but I was getting 60 fps the whole time.
gtx 470, 1920x1080, no AA, no vsync, texture was very high and everything else was high. I was actually surprised how good it was performing.
I'd love some AA comparison pics.
4xMSAA vs FXAA vs No AA
That would make the 6h dl wait easier
Anyone trying the MP? It feels . . . horribly imbalanced to me. Almsot Homeland levels of imbalance. Assault Rifles are next to useless, and the Mini14 is a god-tiered weapon.
Tesselation?

Ah juicy! Thanks.
Looks like the ingame msaa isn't that good. FXAA looks surprisingly nonblurry and decent.

Wow yeah FXAA looks better than 4xMSAA.FXAA looks to be best here, or am I crazy?
No doubt.Just watched some 1080p footage of this game maxed out on PC and all it did was make me think how great a job Rockstar did with the console versions of the game.
Gaf, i just came from work and saw this thread: apparently Rockstar did a good job optimizing Max Payne 3.
i7 2600, Asus GTX 580 (stock values) and 8gb ddr3
Steam opened as i turned on the computer and the first thing i see is "Max Payne 3: buy it now"...should I? I really REALLY loved MP 1 & 2, and if somebody convinces me i will buy it right here right now
Verify integrity?Alright I think I'm done with this game until it gets a patch or two. I thought maybe the 360 pad was the source of the pausing but I restarted the game with mouse and keyboard and it was still randomly pausing. It's unplayable in its current state so whatever, I'll just wait as long as I have to.
Wow yeah FXAA looks better than 4xMSAA.
I thought the cutscenes weren't real-time, just movies over the loading screen. Is that only true for a few of them?I posted this shot downsampled with FXAA in the screenshot thread. I get 60fps with slight dips, but mostly only in the cutscenes when those crazy filters are going on.
