Max Payne 3 PC Features Detailed.

Corky

Nine out of ten orphans can't tell the difference.
this is NOT how I envisioned playing this ass game, browsing gaf on my iphone because I cant skip these cutscenes I have to rewatch due to lost progress...trying to reach chapter 3 again, 90% of the time spent playing has been watching them again.

Sorry to hear people having issues with the game, i personally am loving it, pretty tough, but the engine runs superb and looks fantastic.

If using 3dtv play or 3d vision it looks stunning in 3d, pretty intense on the gpu with everything pushed to the limits though.

Fantastic port, and that makes me hopeful the same love and effort will be put into the pc version of GTAV.

Cheers Rockstar.

Just bought a steam voucher with some old store credit, then put in 10 more bucks.

Heres hoping I can run it well and with decent quality settings.

This game really isn't doing it for me.

The game controls a bit sluggishly, and mouse aim sensitivity is all over the place.

It almost feels as if there is another system between me and Max filtering and interpreting my every move - and not doing a good job of it. I never really feel in control.

In addition this game has way to many cutscenes! Anything that isn't shooting seems to be displayed as a movie. They are well made, don't get me wrong, but it really highlights that this game really only is about shooting people in the head in slow motion.

All in game movies are plagued with strange color filters and deliberate visual artifacts making them a chore to watch.

The original Max Payne games were really hard, but they also had very crisp controls - making moving and shooting effortless.

MP3 seems to forgo all of that in favor of making the combat cinematic.
Allthough I haven't played very far this seems like a game high on style, but lacking in substance.

disagree on every point. Feels sooo much better to me. Loving it.

the one point I do agree on (post above yours i believe) is the actively switching you away from two handed weapons...that is annoying.

Managed to play until the third level and now i've been faced with all different sorts of hangs.

2500K, GTX 680 - everything at stock, 301.42 drivers.

I am fucking loving the game so far. Everything has gone smoothly, I am happy that Rockstar didn't half-ass this like their other PC titles.

Yeah, that part bothered me to, forgot to add it in.

As for the rest; we just have to agree to disagree.

Replaying does seem like it'll be a chore due to the "still loading" shit. The shooting feels so damn good though. Is there any way to roll or something after diving? Getting up is so slow and leaves you vulnerable as hell.

If you double tap "A" on 360 you can roll. if that's what you mean. Idk what platform you're playing on.

Pc with a 360 pad. The old' double tap you say. Never woulda guessed, kinda like how I had to google how to use grenades with a pad in Syndicate. You hold Y in that one and it switches. Stupid.

Do you have the aiming options of soft lock and hard lock with a 360 controller for the PC version? I've only used the keyboard and mouse so far.

There is a roll key listed in the bindings menu, but I think it's labelled dodge? I rebound it so can't remember the default, sorry.

On another note, Rockstar really need to give us the option to use in-game footage at all times even if means we see loading screens. Take the shot below for example, it'd look fantastic in-engine. Instead, we get a shitty, horribly compressed video:

i'm getting the weird thing where the game randomly pauses too. did anyone figure out why that was happening yet?

G is the bizarre default.

Yeah I agree a lot with the above, except I don't think they're well made at all. The camera switches way too often in each scene and way too quickly and that damn blur filter and flashing lights that kick in constantly drives me nuts. It's beyond annoying. Another thing is random words during people's dialog keeps getting put on the screen. At first I thought it was for added emphasis but it does it all of the time on words that make no sense to emphasize. The game's a mess from a cinematic standpoint.

Max

I am not Max
Multiplayer is terrible. The maps I played are all spawn, get shot in the back, stare at the completely static kill screen for 10 seconds even though the respawn timer has ended after 3, repeat.

oh god the game installed in Spanish what the fuck

I think the game has some auto-detection for the language, but don't know from where is getting it (Windows setting, etc).

You can change the language with command line options:
http://support.rockstargames.com/entries/21498272-full-list-of-command-line-parameters-for-max-payne-3-on-pc

I didn't test with adding the file the say in the link, but simply placing "-language english" in the launch options on the steam and it appears to work.

Are you hitting the button to actually respawn?

wow so im having one weird ass issue

the game defaulted to really good settings and was running great.. then all of the sudden I notice it started looking kinda like crap.. so I go check the settings and I see that everything's changed? no AA, everything on Normal, no Vsync.. like at one point the game ignores my settings and just shifts to the lowest possible or something..

wtf?

edit: this is what the game defaulted to (impressed on good detection):

Sorry bro, but that is how the game is supposed to be. R* gave us garbage prerendered video to hide the loadtimes. They couldn't even be bothered to re-render the video for PC.

That doesn't have anything to do with his issue at all. His video settings are actively changing.

Managed to fix that it seems

ran into another issue though.. mouse look is giving me some serious stutter. I ran fraps and noticed that the framerate stays at steady 60 but when I look around with the mouse it feels as if it was taking some serious hits. Narrowed down to something mouse related since this doesnt occur when I use the 360 controller..

I have that issue with Crysis. If I look into the sky it's smooth as shit, looking into foliage it's clearly choppier. Now my specs are leaps and bounds better than the recommended specs. It's aggrevating because I should be able to run these games max specs flawlessly.

My issue doesnt have anything to do with what's happening on the screen though. I turn around anywhere with the mouse and its choppy, I grab my controller and use the right stick to do the same thing and its smooth as butter.

That doesn't make sense. If you're using steam have you tried verifying the game files or whatever that option is? Idk if it will help but what the hell.

I think this game has the best implementation of Tesselation I've seen yet. The models look really clean, no sharp polygon edges anywhere.

I once passed a very disappointing jagged barrel post shaving and was like "but...but...his head is so smooth!"

But skipping environmental stuff like that is probably why the frame rate is still so good.

Damnit, finished the
stadium
level on hard and went to dinner. Came back and all the progress was gone. I couldn't continue the game and everything was locked on chapter select.

Bit frustrating

Beat the game, what a fun ride. The story played out pretty much how I thought it would. As far as
lords and ladies and BBB
is there something I missing as I saw two episodes of
BBB
but nothing else is that it?
