So why do we believe Shikamaru Ninja again? I'm not saying he's not legit, I just ask this about anyone who claims to have insider info. It's a fair question, no?

what if the game is a new baten kaitos?

I think both games didn't sell so well and it isn't really expected. Or would that count as a second party game? I know large parts of Monolith are owned by Nintendo.

He runs this website, so we know that he knows his Nintendo stuff. I don't think there's "proof" but he's definitely not just making shit up.

OK, good enough for me. Thanks for enduring my scrutiny and not taking it the wrong way. Even if you were making up shit I'd appreciate that in a way, too, since it keeps things interesting, but I guess it's good it seems likely you know something real, and that that something is something cool. I wish you could give us some more roundabout hints, though. Can't you help narrow the speculation a bit? Like, is it a racing game?

So I've been periodically checking the wrong website! The updated one seems neat

Oh, Shikamaru, something that's been on my mind: Do you think EAD 4 can really be making Pikmin 3, NSMB2 and NSMBMii concurrently, or is something else going on?

They are 100% first party. Regardless, I'm not sure if he would have any inside info on Monolith or their game, as much as I would love to hear anything about what they are working on.

With regards to Baten Kaitos, Honne is heading the Kyoto studio which is working on a 3DS game. If anything is going to BK related, it would be that.

Okay. I'm caught-up on that IGN topic where 35 developers give their thoughts about their favored next-gen platform, and I have one question. I'll just come right out and ask it:

Has anyone called dibs on writing the OP for the inevitable "List of Closed Studios Since 2013" thread?

I'm very tempted.

It would take a special kind of brain fart to release Baten Kaitos as your first game in a generation. A sequel to a rather obscure game from 2 generations ago is what I call the anti-business.

really, that's awesome :)

I thought I read here on GAF Monolith is owned by Bandai Namco in small parts
Nintendo owns controlling interest in Monolith Soft. Something like 97% Nintendo to 3% Bandai Namco.

They are an owned subsidiary of Nintendo, which makes them 1st-party but are occasionally farmed out to Bandai Namco for some projects, much like Brownie Brown was farmed out to Square Enix for Heroes of Mana.

Yeah. It's a big task. One producer... 3 big games. But i guess it's possible right? I guess it's just a matter of timing really. I mean shooot.. Pikmin probably could have been released on Wii last December.. or something.

Shikamaru Ninja, is the mystery game a racing game?

What mystery game? The first-party game I know is in development? No. But I do think you will see a couple of first-party racing games announced for Wii U and 3DS at e3.

Zero relevant marketing, and I'm not sure if this was a factor but story mode was still way too hard on its easiest setting.

I'm not sure if this is true at all. Nintendo spent a lot of money on this game. A LOT OF MONEY. Between the multiple companies developing the game, producing the CG, producing the sound track.. shoooot.

Oh sweet, a new site huh. You should change the url in your profile!

Thanks yeah!

I was debating on whether I should post this in the speculation thread or only in the NeoGAF News OT, but alot of it focuses on Wii U rumors so here is the latest episode of my NeoGAF News series. This series is like my YouTube Mews series, where I've made two Aii U related gideos and posted them in this thread, except it is by me alone and not with my dad. Most of the Wii U talk is at the begining. So without further ado,

Hello everyone! Here is the next episode of NeoGAF News: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSTUzb_XTEg

This episode mainly focuses on Pre E3 Rumors and Hype, but there is some off topic news and general gaming news. Over half of the episode was filmed sideways, so sorry! Twenty minutes long, my longest youtube video yet! WOW!!!

In This episode, I discuss across three segments;

Pre E3:
-StarFox x Metroid Rumors (I filmed the episode a couple days before it was shot down, so this and other info is already outdated.)
-Wii U analog sticks reveltion.
-PSN+ Revamp
-Castlevania 3DS Spinoff

Off Topic:
-Biggest Pool Ever
-Can you move things with your mind?
-Planet four times the side of Pluto

Gaming in General
-Best Brand Soda (Comes with song)
-Demon's Souls servers are ALIIIIIIIIVE!
-Why does everyone thinks Nintendo is doomed?
-Geoff Unreal Engine 4 lols.
-Every Wii U game needs a option to play on controller.
-What is the greatest game of all Time?

Next episode is on June 16th and will mainly focus on E3 GAF Reactions and Meltdowns.

Man their staff is awful.

The Wii U is Nintendo's only hope, Obi Wan Kenobi. They will hopefully display some games that mainstream and hardcore gamers alike will enjoy, much to the disdain of their mothers. I really hope this is the year that Nintendo grows up and allows some more mature games into their library. Maybe a Halo-clone? They will announce their dedication to churning out 3D versions of all the NES, Gameboy, and GBA games that we have already bought more than once.

lol.

I just want Monster Games to make a killer arcade racer for Wii U that's in the vein of Excite Truck, god that's just one unbelievable game! :D

Me = :'( If they make another Mii-themed game like Pilotwings Resort. What a waste.

I'm not sure if this is true at all. Nintendo spent a lot of money on this game. A LOT OF MONEY. Between the multiple companies developing the game, producing the CG, producing the sound track.. shoooot.

Personally I think the soundtrack (character themes) was a huge waste of money, awesome as it was. No idea why they created like 40-something songs only to lock them away in a pilot profile menu.

I don't recall any marketing for the game, at least in the United States. I used to watch a lot of kid/teen-focused TV back then and never saw an ad for it. I impulse bought it while browsing my local Rhino Games, having no clue of its existence before hand. "X was good, I guess I'll pick this up", I said. What followed was months of racing game perfection. That game did not fucking leave my Gamecube for a very long time.

Sweet shit, the first two things mentioned by the first guy (price and release date) have already been confirmed that they will NOT be announced on Tuesday. Would be nice if these people knew what they were talking about.

You dont really expect people to pay attention do you? They already have their post E3 reactions written up "Nintendo failed because they didnt deliver on price or release date leaving fans to wonder"

I remember F-Zero GX (along with Soul Calibre 2 for Gamecube) being promoted on Video Hits in Australia for like 2 months. Ahhh.

I believe he is hinting at an extreme vehicle game like wave race or excite something. I can't imagine any other IP of nintendos that isn't ancient that he feel would "bomb".
