So if someone makes a topic "Guys, would you make out with another guy?" And if people replied "No fucking way" would you find it offensive?

I really don't see how the topic or 99% of the replies (again, first page) were offending. But I guess it's highly subjective.

You don't seem to be getting it, the answers to the question isn't the problem, it's the violent reaction, coming from a place of utter disgust and contempt that is.

This has mostly changed now because people know that is unacceptable. Or at least they know they'll get called out on it.

I rarely get offended by things on this site. Now if you want to get easily offended go to /pol/ right now I guarantee there is either a racist, sexist, or anti semitic thread. Once you go there often enough the threads become comical. Though probably half of those threads are troll threads.

When you're a straight guy, the idea of making out with a man is not appetizing. The disgust is not necessarily a condemnation of homosexuals.

I know a lot of Christians don't consider Mormonism to be Christianity, and that these people wouldn't be comfortable with a Mormon president. Fear monger? I never said anyone should be scared of Islam. And I bet if I said something about Mormonism being oppressive and patriarchal, you wouldn't have replied at all.

To back you up, all you were saying was that if you're an atheist and you have a problem with Mormonism, you should have a problem with Islam too. But lots of people are afraid to touch Islam because they're afraid they'll come off like a conservative.

There was quite a few racist/ignorant comments made in a thread about three years ago that was about people having pride in their nationality while living in the US. Somehow, within that thread, there was a discussion about soccer I think, where things got even more heated. Anyway, it ended up with a bunch of arguments and then some PMs were sent and made things better. :)

Well essentially that is what it comes down to. So yeah, people reply "ewwwww no" in the same way that they would reply this to a "guys, would you make out with another guy?" question.

I mean, I can understand that for a transgender man who actually deeply feels like he's a woman, just born with the wrong genetic bagage, this might be hurting, in a way.
But I don't think it's just a general hate on transgender people either, given the quite precise question that was posited in that particular OP.

(The owner, who has overheard the entire exchange, comes over.)

Owner: “Sir, you shouldn’t be carrying on and calling people fatties…especially pregnant women.”

Customer: “F*** YOU! I WANT TO TALK TO YOUR MANAGER!”

Owner: “I’ll do you one better: I own this store, and if I see you in my store again, I will have you arrested for trespassing. Oh…and NO, you don’t pay her salary: I do, and I plan to give her a big raise after this.”

Customer: “SCREW YOU! You can’t talk to me this way. I’m a paying customer!”

Coworker: “Hey buddy, you just blow in from stupid town? You haven’t bought anything.”

Customer: “DON’T ACCOMMODATE FATTIES!”

(In his anger, he knocks down a rack of merchandise over and hauls out of the store as fast as he can.)

Coworker: “I’m going to call the police…”

(The customer was arrested less than a block away, and I got a raise.)

What exactly is the difference between "anger" and "offense"? Sometimes I get angry when I read stupid, asinine, or cruel things online (I'm not sure that has ever happened on GAF though... you guys are the best <3), but I'm never offended... unless anger and offense are the same emotional reaction to whatever the catalyst is

It's late and I'm on pain meds and I'm confusing myself

That shouldn't be. It's pretty uniquely American, and when like 50% (or whatever) of neogaf is overseas, that shouldn't shock you. Especially as (as a slur) it's not as commonly used in media as you-know-what N word.

It involved Rydia and Moltres and it was so horrible he must have made it himself. Must have.


One time Pigspeakers made a topic telling everybody he loved them. It offended me a lot. Not as much as his avatar, though. How dare he mock that one episode of Twilight Zone!

In any sensitive issue like that, screaming religious persecution is an extremely common defense for people who can't come up with any reasons beyond "I want to."
