They didn't do a good job framing it ... but the price is fine given similar products like Sonos (and they don't offer video).

Yeah its cheaper than a sonos connect amp. However Sonos can read music from anywhere. Whereas with the Q you're locked into google music/video.

keynote was okay. nexus7 is cool but i dont need another tablet now.

highlight for me was the project butter so far. addressed one of the biggest issues i had with android.

edit: oh its not over yet. google+? eh

I'm not sure if I'm going to regret purchasing the 8GB. I'm really only using it for comic books and already past what I'm looking to spend on the device.

It looks fantastic though.

All of the Jellybean stuff was awesome, but I'm really hoping that battery life doesn't take a hit.

Why would it? Better performance generally means optimizations, and optimizations generally lead to improved hardware.

Not interested in the Q at all. Give me a $99 version without the amp and we'll talk.

Jelly Bean looks fantastic. Can't wait for the update to hit my Xoom. I may get my wife a Nexus 7 and we can give our son the Kindle Fire.

IMO they knocked it out of the park with the Nexus 7, but i don't know that the Q was worthy as a key note thing. Its just a sonos knockoff.

250 million total Google+ users.

150 million active users. More than Twitter, I believe.

75 million users logging in daily.

Agreed.

Of course the converse is true as well. Sonos doesn't support online repositories like GooglePlay, Amazon Cloud, Sky Drive, Dropbox, etc.

It's sad that after all this time, even audio is still like video in that you need one player that does a great job with local content, and another that does best with online content.

CE industry fucking FAIL

I wonder what they count as "logging in".

Technically I'm logging in to Google+ every time I use Gmail. I never actually go to Google+ except when I accidentally click the +[my name] thing at the top-left of the screen.

I have definitely watched a few youtube videos with friends. Being able to have a bunch of people add songs to a playlist from different devices is also pretty cool.

But not for $299.

I'm talking more about:

- continuing a movie I started watching elsewhere at a friends place
- listening to the same music, perfectly in sync with my friends. all online at separate places

Admittedly I've done something similar at one point and my original statement is a silly absolute, but the features the Q are touting definitely aren't things done often enough to warrant the price.

Sonos actively adds stuff if they can though. If the companies have active API's they will add they ability to play from them.

I have a play 5 and i don't see a reason to shift atm. (not in anyway interested in video streaming)
