Looks like they wanted to destroy Google tv with this workaround.
Seriously, this makes no sense.

They didn't do a good job framing it ... but the price is fine given similar products like Sonos (and they don't offer video).
True, it just seems like a larger, oddly shaped and more expensive version of Apple TV. Did they mention any features for it that the Apple TV doesn't have?
All of the Jellybean stuff was awesome, but I'm really hoping that battery life doesn't take a hit.
Glad to see the UK isn't getting shafted, that's a really good price for it!

I just went on Google+ for the first time in a few weeks... What... The... Fuck....??? This is hideous! Why did they change it?! Whaaaaaaaaaaaat, horrible!
Shared playlist, sync playback among multiple units, and possibly headless.
Agreed.Yeah its cheaper than a sonos connect amp. However Sonos can read music from anywhere. Whereas with the Q you're locked into google music/video.

Same prices for phone, tablet etc as in US?Holy shit. The Play Store Shop is opened in Canada now?
£159/£199
Well, it was better than I expected I guess...
I have definitely watched a few youtube videos with friends. Being able to have a bunch of people add songs to a playlist from different devices is also pretty cool.
But not for $299.
Agreed.
Of course the converse is true as well. Sonos doesn't support online repositories like GooglePlay, Amazon Cloud, Sky Drive, Dropbox, etc.
It's sad that after all this time, even audio is still like video in that you need one player that does a great job with local content, and another that does best with online content.
CE industry fucking FAIL

Thanks, but every time I try to buy one, it says "We're sorry, there was an error. Please try again later."
That's because there are more gmail users than twitter users.
