Woosh. Over your head.
Spain before '08
The funniest part about kids who get into supporting football when the club/NT of their choice are on a winning streak and at their prime is witnessing the crushing reality hitting them a few years later when they get to taste defeat and failure for the first time and realize it's not all good times as they were led to believe so far. I had a blast mocking my very young nephews this year who are super supportive of Barca and had no clue how to react to defeat.

Can someone please make a gif of Balotelli casusally spitting out his bottled water on the bench? I thought that was awesome :D

It was clear when we became the neutral's favourite: We are Holland now.
Nah, Holland of old would have dominated the game and lost by not converting chances. You just got outplayed today by a team in much better form. So many Italian players that were of good quality today.

I think third places matches (from other competitions) should be banned. It's very sad the second place ends being defeated and the third place ends with a victory.

What? A lot of times the third place game is really entertaining ala Germany-Uruguay two years ago.

I like the italian team. The 3-5-2 is just an awesome system against the 4-2-3-1, which is getting boring because the majority of the teams plays this way.

Agree. He has the right mentality.

Özil was awful. No chance against Pirlo.

No it's really not that. As much as people make him out to be a masterful attacking player, it's his movement to stretch out defenses that makes him so good.

At Real Madrid, he has Ronaldo, the best winger in the world to play off of, and that's why he looks so spectacular.

Germany's midfield is really fluid and moves with him, which suits his style as well. But when you bring on Kroos whose sole strength is spreading the ball (to Ribery and Robben), it's pretty clear how much impact Oezil is going to have.

I didn't see Schweini make a single run into the box today. That's really where Germany failed.

Get well soon Bastian!

I love me some 4-5-1. Sure you may not score a ton, but if you have a great set of fullbacks that know how to play a flat back, you're golden. It's my favorite system to play with.

BTW, fuck stopper sweeper, if I ever hear a fullback utter that fullback system, I know I'm in for some lazy fullback play.

Forza Azzurri! Forza Super Mario! This could have ended 5 or 6-nil. Pirlo, De Rossi, and Balzaretti were amazing. All the players performed well. This team really deserves to raise the cup.

I think Löw will stay until 2014. He will play a glorious qualification, then in WC lose in the semifinals against Italy or Brazil, finally retire and then it's Klopp's turn.

GAF in the past during major tournaments has been insufferable to browse as an Italian fan. So much hate. Seems the way we are playing has caused a lot of you to warm up to them. Good to see :D

The 3-5-2 is a disguised 5-3-2 .

scholl with a nice point to discuss. we have awesome player. potential since 2006. but we are always feeling. how can u fix this?

Look it's relatively easy, our expectations of this teams are absurd. I mean let's take a look at the Gomez situation, the guy scores 3 goals in the group phase -> He gets criticised like hell because our football wasnt beautiful enough and is benched against Greece.

Now let's compare him to Balotelli, the man is crazy does less in defense than Gomez, lost a ton of balls against England, appears to be toxic in the locker room but everyone in Italy is there for him and supports him. Now he's the fucking hero.

We should learn to appreciate our team and our players more, football isnt that hard you just have to win. But no, this isnt enough in Germany, we are striving for perfection instead and that's our downfall.

Because Italy has tended to be cynical as fuck and play like shit but this is, as I said before, by far the most entertaining Italian team in years with some great personalities as well )

Pirlo + Cassano + Super Mario = <3

Also having had a Gaffer like Forza on your team sure didn't help you :p He was a cunt of grand magnitude.

I hated you guys after the 2006 semis. But today you were the better team and won fair and square. I hope you'll kick Spains ass on sunday!

Yeah, that's why Bayern Munich blitzed Napoli 3-0 at the Allianz before Gokhan Inler broke Schweinsteiger's collarbone right?

It comes down to how comfortable the players are in their system and what they do to make spacing work.

There's no magic system that beats another system consistently.

Ah, the disappointment and grief of all the German fans around here really made my day

A shame I didn't go to some public viewing place, would have been the icing on the cake

EDIT: Though I pity Löw and all the players...they will be criticized to hell and back which they really don't deserve
