Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Sooo, how long until the next showing, we should have footage/streams of that too, no? Although since the game wasn't going to be playable I wonder if they have anything more to show than the trailer. Or was the trailer upload already the event after what we got yesterday/early morning? In that case, where's the EX Troopers play footage (not trailer, it was gonna be playable there)?

Since it is probably 8 or 9 months till release I wouldn't expect anything for a while.

I meant from this Capcom Summer Jam event, not when they'll show it again next. This wasn't just going be one day, and they had MonHun4 stuff scheduled for both. But I dunno the time difference etc, all I know is last night/early today I was seeing the stuff they had for the 30th so I assumed that tonight/early morning we'd get more stuff as it's already the 1st of July there.

Well I hope So.

I don't know how I would feel hacking off Bowser's arms and tail. I mean, the guy's a dick, but I would break down if I ever saw a helmet made from his head.

Couple things I noticed:

Velociprey/Velocidome working together, doing one of those throw like moves they introduced in MH3. Wondering if this is hinting at more cohesive relationships between monsters of the same species? (Expanding on what they did in 3?)

Knife you use to attack monsters while on their back is actually different from the weapon you have equipped. Wonder if this will be upgradable like other weapons?

As the player was climbing up a wall, a Tigrex was able to attack him by reaching over the cliff.

Dear mother of god...

^Poster above: Yeah, I'd like to see more intricate systems of relation in this one. I really liked the eco-system of MH Tri, but if they took it a little further, that would be great.

Stuff that's not about the NA release of MH3G.

Is 8-4 working on localizing Monster Hunter 3G for North American release?

Has 8-4 worked on the localization of Monster Hunter 3G for North American release?

Will 8-4 be working on the localization of Monster Hunter 3G for North American release?

Is it true that Sven owns the only existing English copies of MH3G and Ace Attorney Investigations 2 and laughs after posting about those games on the Capcom Unity forums?

I thought it was cool how the monster attacked the player while he was climbing!

Edit:

Will we be getting some new weapons?

Hopefully that ecosystem means that sometimes multiple monsters will actually attack each other more than one in a blue moon, and not focus on the tiny ape carrying a stick for the vast remainder.

Just dipping into this thread quite late... But anyone who has played the psp MH games will know that bit of the end of the trailer was pre rendered, had a few of those pretty ones on the psp. But that is neither here nor there, the game looks brilliant, the setting and colours, my god!

Getting hyped for this now, gunna play through freedom unite on my vita to get pumped. Not just yet tho, 4 seems way off for the uk :p

Yeah, from what we see it seems too broad, too wide. There's not enough intricacies.

Basically, it's lacking charm (imo).

I guess there will be no way to use a hammer/dual sword to attack while climbing lol hence the addition of one more small sword.

Wonder if the game will be breaking into segments now, action/running -> arena fight etc.
Both trailer shows a confrontation scene between Rathalos and the hunter after all the jumping and climbing.

You can probably see it if you replay the video again, but the weapon used to attack while on a monster's back is the same weapon you use to carve monsters.

There are alot of replies mentioning that the graphics are shit. And I remember how the guys on 8-4 Play went on and on about how good Portable 3rd looked on PSP. Would anybody be willing to explain what it was about P3 that looked so good for comparison to this?

Also, how is everything when compared to TriG?

Ohhhh you're right. Wonder if you can carve things off monsters mid-battle...

The texture fidelity is higher in 3rd. I think this may be because this time around the map isn't segmented? (It at least seems that way?)

TriG looks better than P3 with higher res textures and next gen shaders.

As compared to 4, I can say that they are both of different style. 4 got a more 'next gen' look as compared to TriG thanks to the shaders used.
The addition 1 year of development time will change a lot of things, just like when we first saw the trailer for MH3 for the Wii and the final product.

Portable 3rd looked good for psp a couple years ago. Obviously people have higher standards for 3ds and what's the next major entry and series evolution. And it's pretty disappointing but still early.

It'll look better on the actual hardware for sure but it's all a minor variant of that same ol' ancient PS2 engine/asset pool though, any which way you wanna argue it for ill or for good everyone here roughly knows what the game is going to look like.

Capcom will never budge from this, it will still look basically the same in 2024 when we're looking forward to Monster Hunter 6 on microwave displays, also, they'll have a tie in promotion with some frozen food company for it.

I really don't know what people see in MH, tried it on the PSP and it seemed really slow paced, I mean, it took forever for me to kill a goddamn lizard thing, and i had to go all the way back. lol And i dont even killed it iirc, it killed me. The controls and the camera were pretty bad too. Guess it just isnt for me really. But this new trailer looked really cool anyway!

Monster Hunter 3G |OT|: It took me forever to kill a goddamn lizard thing

Haha, Monster Hunter is not for everyone.

The learning curve is steep. I've been playing these things since the original on the PS2 and way back when a damn Kut Ku was a giant challenge at first, but once you catch on and learn the systems, the weapons, the weight and compensate for it all and start speed killing shit and farming it becomes a lot of fun for a certain sect.

How did you even find that, after I clicked it said it only had one view (probably more by the time I post)...

Anyway, I think it's been established by now that Forbes "contributors" can range from decent to GameFAQs.

Also, the thread clearly isn't meant to discuss the platform "issue" as per the mods and that's all that blog does.

No clue why you'd link to it and provide Forbes with reason to keep the guy (hits!) given all of the above but, eh.

I didn't buy Dragon's Dogma because they originally hinted at a PC version then changed their minds. Now I'll get it for PS3 when it's twenty dollars and I'm less busy.

Also, the art, fuck that Oblivion styled art. Plenty of WRPG and WRPG styled games with great aesthetics and charm and you target Oblivion of all things.

poor camera controls on a psp? No way!! but seriously, not having a second analogue stick is like playing handy caped. And yeah, those textures are atrocious.

I'm all for illogical hype for games that we love no matter what, but the trailer has way more eww parts than ooooh parts. I'll buy it, but don't make me feel like i'm watching an entirely different trailer than you guy are please.

That’s because no North American release of any Monster Hunter game has made it to Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, the two consoles I own. This is peculiar, since these are the most widely-owned consoles in the world. Odder still, Capcom has a long relationship with Sony and a PS3 exclusive release of a brand new Monster Hunter game seems like a no-brainer for everyone involved.

"Wow, this is such a weird situation," said the man who's been frozen in ice since 2006.

Hmm, this is a unique point which I don't think has yet been brought to light to the NeoGaf community. It's a point that requires both a lot of research and personal introspection to really allow one to reach a sensible conclusion on the matter. Personally, from having a bit of a think about it, I'd perhaps go as far to say that the FUCKING OBVIOUS suggestion would be that Dragon's Dogma and Monster Hunter aren't really that much alike?

Monster Hunter and Dragon's Dogma are drastically different games.

For one, MH's armor design doesn't look like muddy shit.
