Part of the reason for making a game like this is to celebrate the history of Playstation. Ideally it would do well and also help give exposure to plenty of their characters/IP's. Does anyone find the latter has actually affected them?

I mean rewind a few months and I had never played a Sly, Jak or Ratchet game. I've always been curious but never jumped in. I think Sly 1 was offered on PS+. I gave it a shot and found I quite enjoyed it.

I've since bought the Sly Collection and am playing (and enjoying) Sly 2. I've also bought the Jak and Ratchet Collection as well. A lot of the games listed in this topic I haven't played in previous gens have gotten me quite curious as well

Guess it worked on me
Which is why this game should be a pack in with the new PS3 SKU.

I got sidetracked by the secret infoz, lol. That's an awesome super, thanks!

Isn't it strange to include them in offline footage, though? (Footage shown to the public, at that.)

No, because it will have different account names. If things work the way they usually should, you can log into other PSN account and get the stats. With that said, it is a demo with debug menu so most likely it might not be there for offline... ;)

Man Coles level 2 is so money.
Coles attacks are sweet.
It makes me want way more mellee guys with swords, I'm 100% a mellee kinda guy.
I would definitely Main as cole so far, but my friend is way more into infamous than I am so he gets dibs, and it's kinda an unwritten rule that we both main separate characters. :p

Sheesh I remember those days. :p
Yea the melee in this game is pretty sick. I just want the game now to see if I can find techs.

I feel like cole and Jak would make the best team so far.
In a team battle, Jak could zone heavily and when they get close Jak pulls his anti gravity gun, then cole opens up major cans of whoop ass

If Paul was smart, he'd use a library computer, create a new blog with a completely random but video game-related name, then leak the fuck out of the roster/stages/etc.

But that's asking too much of him.

The problem is probably nobody would believe it/it wouldn't get much recognition. At least until it becomes blatantly obvious that it's real after some reveals.

Hell, didn't an IGN user leak SSBB's roster?

Where the fuck is Lupinko? Didn't he say he knows the roster but never bothered with the game because he thinks it sucks or something?

The real problem is, he's not leaking stuff out of the goodness of his heart because he's a fan and wants to share stuff with other fans. He's leaking stuff because it gets people to his site. If he dropped everything he knew at once, people would stop visiting his site in the hope of leaks for this game.

It's a mixture of a few things, I'd hope. I do think Paul enjoys the attention on his site (and who wouldn't), but I think he's obviously having a lot of fun leaking information and giving out clues.

Yeah probably, a lot of ppl dismiss it based on footage but the vast majority who have actually played it have a very positive opinion of it.

A game could be perfectly balanced and constructed, but if the action isn't dynamic or crazy enough, it doesn't evoke excitement in the crowd. UMVC3 is a very exciting game to watch, even though there are complaints about balance issues and infinites.

Do we know what Paul's deal is? Does he work for Sony? If not, just how the hell did he get so much info on Superbot and the game long before Sony made any announcements?

Well, I am not sure but I don't want to jump conclusion. Do his website made money when he get some hits? (I admitted that I didn't really give his site a chance ever since TMNT rumor.) I'm glad that he broke Sony BR last year, and I followed that site for couple of months.

Really does it matter?

Its not like he posting fake stuff for this is real clues and real info.

The only problem with the whole Paul thing is that nothing is really coming from it. I mean, a picture of a bunch of bullets that you have to count and then the 'answer' to the riddle is a reference to the American flag is just not worth anyone's time. That type of hint is only going to be useful in retrospect, and doesn't actually reveal anything.

I'm not going to expect him to just release all of the characters, since that's not exciting and it's frankly wrong to do. But he could at least give out some real tangible info, like what the PS3/PS2/PS1 breakdown is, how many third party characters there are, or tidbits about the game that we don't know. Maybe he could drop a couple of character reveals on us and leave the rest for those obscure clues, or give us information like "There are still two very popular PS1 characters left." or "Either Crash or Spyro is in the game, I'm not saying which." I'd also love to hear more information about the different modes and stuff like that.

Paul Gale won't reveal anything to us before Superbot does for now on. I agree these hints are ridiculous. If they're so crazy that even when we get them right we can't believe ourselves then they are useless. If it were up to me I would just have Paul Gale go away and let official PR people and the team making the game do the job they were meant to do. I look forward to those character vignette trailers more than anything Paul can do.
He's more of an annoyance to me than anything. But that's just my opinion. I understand if people like the buzz

I've known about the game for about 2 years but only revealed it in October, 2011. If I wanted to really milk it, then for the 6 months leading up to when the game was finally shown in full, I could have gradually let out the first batch of characters, stages, details, etc.

Instead, I gave a whole lot, all at once to please the fans and get people excited. It was also at a time where I wasn't told to "not" put anything up, so I did it all for the fans.

I decided to let SuperBot have Big Daddy for E3 because I know they worked hard on it and deserve as a studio to have some "first" on their own game.

Remember, I try to be respectful of the developer, my source, and all of you. Anyways, the reason for my hints being increasingly more cryptic is because of establishing a relationship with Omar and his team at E3 and agreeing to not say too much to the point that they have no surprises themselves left.

Could I tell you everything now? Yes. Would my source in particular be upset? No, as long as I put up the news when given permission to. (That has always been the agreement). Would all of you love to hear the last 1st and 3rd party characters? I guarantee you would. But would SuperBot be hurt? Yes. There are company's stocks to consider, press events that have time and money put into them, and not to mention just being mindful of when they would like to announce things.

Would I get in trouble? No I wouldn't. But as a man and not a journalist, I'm doing things the way I am to please everyone. Journalist Paul still does have fun wow'ing the Internet but there's more to it than hits and fame. It's just how I handle things.

That being said, a couple pages back, I DID reveal one more character right here in these forums...last night in fact! ;)

Lightning over someone like Cloud, Aeris, Sephiroth, or Tifa would be a joke.

What exactly does Square gain from putting Final Fantasy VII characters in this game? There is no new Final Fantasy VII title in development, and they are certainly aware of the demand for more. Putting Lightning in is an advertisement for the recently released XIII-2 and likely the forth coming XIII-3.

I'm a pretty big fan of all the teases you & SuperBot have given us on this game. My inner ten year old is getting excited to finally see the PlayStation crossover game I've always wanted, and the clues and occasional fan outreach have done a lot to bolster my attention. Keep it up.

Yeah but FFVII has done more for the PS brand than any other game from SE or really any other game period.

I think we all (or most of us, at least) completely respect that. It would be nice to get some more meaningful information than those cryptic clues though. Even if that meaningful information is not a hype machine like character reveals, I think we'd appreciate "There are more than 3 modes.", "There are two hidden characters that must be unlocked. I'm not sure if they're going to reveal them.", or "There are four PS1 characters left." more than stuff like those pictures.

At least, I think that's how GAF feels. At the end of the day you don't have to say a word, but you are so thanks for that.

She's a crappy character from a terrible installment in the series. If this game is purely made to whore out characters for future sequels, what a shame. Yet Parappa, Jak, Big Daddy, Toro are here (are we getting any more of these games? Maybe not). Plus, Final Fantasy VII helped build the Sony brand, where as XIII was symbolic of Sony's fall from grace in that they lost their exclusivity of the franchise to Microsoft. But w/e, if Square wants to sell more shitty sequels to a shitty rpg, I wouldn't put it past them.
