I actually liked Primordium a bit more than Cryptum and had no problems with the earlier parts of the book. Everything you learn early on in the book is very important for later events so if you take your time with it, not rush it, and savour all the fantastic new details that get revealed, you'll love the book. I've made notes for both books which are thousands of words long of notable dialogue/events and Primordium's is much bigger. That just shows how much more packed Primordium was with interesting dialogue and details for me really.

Both books just have such totally different styles, I love it! I hope Greg Bear is interested in writing a bit more Halo fiction after the trilogy is done.. he is a brilliant author.

Again, in my opinion Primordium is a bit better than Cryptum. I hope Greg Bear is interested in writing a bit more Halo fiction after the trilogy is done.. he is a brilliant author.

I should clarify a bit, that I am enjoying Primordium more than Cryptum at the same point in their stories. The narrative in Primordium is much more clear, and with the universe established it's paining in many details in a way that feels more natural than in Cryptum. The pacing has been odd, and I really wish it was a direct launching from Cryptum. That book ended with events of enormous possibility and some confusion, and I wish they were built more directly upon. I may revise that view as the story continues - I assume it will return to those events. I'm just growing a bit weary of the wandering phase of the story so far.

Invasion 6v6 on Hemo

Mind-numbingly boring.

Did anyone actually playtest this?

And it goes through to 100!

Invasion is my most hated gametype.

Games take six hours to complete.

Plasma Rifle starts 50% of the time.

9/10 games never capture the core.

Most default Invasion maps are HORRIBLE (however, some Forge ones can be fun).

Good idea on paper, not so much when implemented.

343i would have sold millions of copies of the Halo 4 Limited Edition if the Chied had hold a Battle Rifle instead of a Assault Rifle. (A Limited Edition exclusive cover)

Trust me when I say it's not.
Maybe he is like Gabotron and likes shitty BTB gametypes and maps?

From the tag thread.

Does invasion count as BTB? If it does, then you are correct.

Stats wise? Invasion is it's own category. I'd consider it BTB-style myself though.

Those aren't special, a tag is a gift, a curse, a title bestowed upon you from those above you.

You'll be heartily sick of the wandering by the end.

It's like The Hobbit if nothing ever happened to disrupt the walking through the trees until the last ten pages, and all the characters were unlikable dolts.

Pretty much all BTB maps are terribad. :|

Sadly, yeah. I'd love to see some stats for how often people choose 'None of the Above' in that playlist. But it's just false hope, no good maps lie behind the next door! lol

The forge world BTB maps are particularly hard to sit through. I'm looking at you, Rasu.

I can sit through Hemo CTF and some games in Abridged, but whoever accepted Trident, Wayont (not the ILBTB variants, either), Renegade (Banshee, Laser), and Heavies needs brain scanned. Fuckin' awful.

But then I think of Halo 4 BTB: lasers, high possibility of a PP/DMR/plasma nade start, among others. I'm still skeptical on the Banshee having a bomb blast, which was never needed in the front place. How will the gametypes be, because we know CTF is in, but what about Assault and Plots. For all we know it'll be heavy Slayer oriented, and that says boring to me.

Which map is that? Apart from the banshees it looks pretty good.
Tempest variant with Banshees and shit-tons of power weapons. Add that to the horrific list of things they felt like adding. Think Standoff Heavies: mid size map cramped in with 16 players, lots of power weapons, and a Banshee.
