Sleeping Dogs |OT| not releasing this would have been a True Crime

I was going to pick up Saints Row 3 (lttp) but now I'm thinking about picking this one up instead. How about that huh? Anyone wants to stop me?

Incredibly solid.

My rig:

i7 3.20Ghz
16gb DDR3
2x670 in SLI

Maxed out - except for AA, which is on the second highest. It was still more than playable at max, but I felt like there was a hint of slowdown, and the reduced AA isn't impacting on visual fidelity at all.

Buttery smooth, which is surprising considering the amount of detail in each scene. You walk down the street and old women are tipping laundry water out of balconies, girls are talking on mobile phones, people are selling stuff... it's pretty impressive.

You would hope it would be 'rock solid' on a system like that.

Went to sleep, thinking when I'd wake up, i would have a code. Almost 12 hours since the games launch on Steam, and I don't have a code from GMG.

First time I've used the service, and most certainly the last.

How much of an FPS hit does increasing the NPC amount cause? I have a gtx 670, i5 2500K 4.2 ghz 8 G Ram and I am getting 23 FPS on 1080p with everything maxed. That cant be right no?

Saints Row 3 is awesome. Don't let anyone stop you from buying it. The story missions are really good. However, they decided to stretch the game out by making you complete side missions as main missions, which was lame.

With a GTX 680m at 1080p I got an average FPS of 59.8 (low around 46) with AA High, hi-res textures, SSAO normal and v-sync on, it looks really good, just about to start playing.

Caved in after the positive reaction to the game and preordered just now the Limited Edition on Green Man Gaming with a 20% code, and got my key instantly. As always with them, no problem at all...we'll see for Dark Souls and Borderlands 2 now, but I don't think there should be any problem at all by now ^^;

IGN gave it 8.5 / 10

Fucking bullshit.

From the extracts ive seen this review is filled with nothing but positives....8.5
It seems your game has to have some name behind it to score 9+, i know 8.5 is good....but if GTA4 can do 10 no way this cant score a 9.
What did they not like? (I refuse to give IGN any hits)

Im so tired of seeing reviews.....but so many people depend on them for purchases......everyone needs to buy this game if only to say thank you to Square for saving it from oblivion.

I wonder if GTA4 wasnt called GTA4 would it still have scored 10s?
Considering, Gunplay wasnt that good, Driving was a chore, fist-fighting was pointless the story was OK and the characters were amazing....but was it really a 10 out 10 game?

Played it for a couple of hours and some initial observations:

- Game controls feel a bit jittery with KB+M. Its certainly playable, just feels a bit 'watery' for lack of a better term. Trying to avoid going controller, but I might have to.

- Only thing more impressive than how good it looks (PC + High Res DLC) is how smooth it runs. The only things I got toned down are shadow filtering at normal and motion blur is off. Easily looks better than GTA IV for comparison. Haven't seen much of the city, but what I have seen so far is very good.

- Combat is interesting though still getting the hand of it. Seems like my counter doesn't activate some of the time, but that might be me hitting it too early. As mentioned, its not unlike Arkham Asylum, but with a bit more difficulty to it.

So far, I'm really enjoying it. Did a bunch of favors and I like what the game is doing so far, and it got my LMAO with an early favor. (Very minor spoiler) Ting's T-Shirts:
Got to get some photos for t-shirt prints for this store owner. Anyways, you go to the sea wall view to get the sunset and there is a drunk guy in the frame who won't leave. "Hey, you! Asshole, get out of the picture."
"I'm sorry. I can't resist a camera."
So I grab him and throw him over the railing.
It was a nice picture.

EDIT: I forgot one other thing:

- Love the chase scenes on foot. Running through stores, vaulting counters. Very kinetic and environment is used well. Much like the combat.

And so far, it plays like a 9.0 game, not a 8.5.

Personally I have had nothing but problems with them. First it was not being able to complete orders because their security system was fucked up. And now this big ordeal with people not receiving keys for games they ordered. I have received five emails from them about my purchase of the game and that it is now available to download, but never received a key. There are even people saying that they have receive UK keys when they ordered the NA version. It just seems kind of shady.

I'm not flipping out or anything like a lot of people on their boards. As long as I get a key today everything is cool. I'm just not going to do business with them anymore and would not recommend anyone I know to either.

8.5 is a pretty good score last I checked. Relax and enjoy the game?

Any HD7970s in here? Hows the performance?

Not a 7970, but I've been really happy with how it's performing on my budget 7870.

oh and uh.... the game is awesome too.

Anyone missing some DLC? Steam page said it would come with the GSP and Police Protection pack but I have neither.

My thoughts exactly. Done doing business with them. It is what it is, and now I'm just waiting for the key.

Well the fact that reviews are subjective by nature nullifies your whole argument. It's not too hard for me to envision a world in which a good portion of people thought GTA IV was a damn good game, enough for a perfect score, and just didn't like this one as much. Reviews are literally about seeing what other people thought about the game, and you really can't blame anyone for not liking something as much as some other thing, or for having different tastes.

And I think it'd do well to remember Hanlon's Razor: Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity, before jumping the gun and crying fault. Also 8.5 is an amazing score.

Whoa... played about 2 hours. My initial impression is... this game is Shenmue meets GTA. Loving every moment of it so far.
Activision... they must be feeling pretty.

And, SLI isn't working. It's using 1 GPU only. nVIDIA needs to release profile update asap.

But was it gmg or did SE send them the wrong codes? I'd hope they have some pipeline setup for all the distribution system.

And of course folks tha bought something now would get the proper code. Assume they probably wanna check to be sure all the codes are sorted out this time before hitting the release button.

A bit weird that they haven't been upfront with messaging, but I guess each company got their own policies.

They've done this shit before. They've sent wrong codes to wrong people, run out of codes and didn't even know, take days to actually give an update, etc. With some having problems and others do not.

You shop their for the prices and nothing else.

This isn't true, is it?

If so... wow...

Makes sense if you think about it. They fixed the problem for new purchases. Now they need to figure out where the problem was and address it.

And it's always harder to untangle a knot than to tangle.

And don't GMG usually give ya some free credit when shit fucks up?

I had like $20 of credit that I have no clue where I got them from.

Yeah the review sounded like a 9.0, then I saw the 8.5. While i usually don't care for reviews, I do wish it would have gotten a higher score, if only because then the game might sell a few more copies. I pray UFG reaps the rewards of their hard work.

Is it better to play with a 360 controller? Movement controls with mouse and keyboard feel a bit sluggish.

Only reason I haven't is I hate gunplay and aiming with a controller, but given how it feels, I might just go ahead and try it. I do recommend upping the sensitivity of the camera to like 8. Makes it respond a bit better.

When you are on your lunch break, can you tell the other employees of GMG that I would like my code please?

So, I just purchased this from GMG since they had the 20% off going on, however, like the pre-order people, I got an email with no key. Checked my GMG account, and no key listed there either, even though it says I have it purchased. Just a warning to those who are thinking of buying, seems like they're still fucked up.

I'm in NA by the way.
