Here is the LE edition armor:

To be honest, I really prefer the Console LE armor and goodies.. On top of that, the Specializations are available for everyone who preorders the game apparently..mix that with the War Games Season Pass and the Halo 4 LE is really losing value. =/
Is there a better image of the spartan armor on the far left? Can't really tell what it looks like...

What would you guys think about an item that repaired vehicles in MP? It could take up a weapon slot, leaving the player with only one weapon. Hold the trigger to use it, taking maybe 30 - 90 seconds to take a vehicle from "on fire" to brand new, depending on the vehicle type. Has a recharge timer so it can't be immediately used again.

Look at the time you put. Do you have any idea how long 90 seconds is in a match? It's a eternity. 10 seconds is much better, especially considering the other restrictions you put on it.

For starters, it actually has a visor...
(I sorta like the new armor, but I miss more traditional, functional helmets, hope there are some in game)

Oh its name is "Recruit", it is easily the default armor, nomnomnom

I get it... and there is a fine line between the jokes, jabs, and memes and simple posts that, as u4ix put it have, "decently well thought out reason for it and it isn't baseless hate.

I'm still excited for a new Halo. It's the one game franchise that historically kept me gaming. I'm not on team downer or slurp, but fall somewhere pretty close to u4ix in his post below. Some of that is entirely due to how and what information has been released for H4. Most of what has been released concerns me for the MP, while the things I'm looking for have only been hinted at by Frankie.

Contrast that with Blops 2 info... where I was completely disinterested prior to the recent release of information, it made me stop and go Whoooooaaaaa... and it's the first time CoD ever did that for me. The info released there caters exactly to me in that it is centered around competitive game play and is offering something that is revolutionary in a console shooter.

I want this stuff in Halo - end of story. Not just a spectator mode, but a full suite of features catering to broadcast, commentary, and streaming of game play... and as great as these things are, I want it more than Spartan Ops, Forge, or Theater.

I want someone in 343 like David Vonderhaar, who grabs hold of competitive game play and does something new with it... because I truly believe a game that is balanced for competitive play by default is a game that casual players can enjoy too, and even that all the "fluff" developers place in games today can have a place in very specific play lists in the same game. I don't think the two are mutually exclusive within a game, but that you have to start at the core (competitive balance) and then split the two rather than starting with the fluff and peeling layers to get to the core.

Those features (theater and spectator stuff) are cool as shit and I'd like them too, but I'm not sad they are missing. They don't actually impact the playing of the game and I absolutely believe its only a minority of the fans that want that stuff. It doesn't mean they shouldn't add that in for Halo 5, but it also doesn't mean they don't care or are incompetent.

I think its totally reasonable to discuss that stuff and even be disappointed by whatever, but I think its important to know where that line is and backing off when enough is enough, while also being respectful.

I agree with your last statement, but I believe it'd be very different when on the other side of things and actually making the game.

FTR, this opinion of mine has nothing to do with your posts Risen. I really like those and thing they are very fair and well thought out.

What wrong with team slayer? It's the essence of Halo to the vast majority of players who play online and 343 are obviously trying to not make the experience stale, just look at ordnance. Many Gaffer's are worried about the overhaul, and believe the experience is evolving to far from Halo's roots. We know you love Shadowrun, but class gameplay is not very Halo. Being able to customize my Spartan to play in my OWN unique way trumps being shoehorned into a class. From what we know Armor abilities have "true uses" and the intent of mods/specializations is to accent our style.

Kind of a sheepy sounding post that I haven't heard a million times in various YouTube videos.

I know how the game is supposed to be, I'm just waiting to see how it actually is. I'm hoping it's great, it's looking good, but from what we've seen I think it can be better.

You're also not shoehorned into a class anymore than you are into a playstyle mate.

Also classes aren't very "Halo," but you express no qualms with Ordnance, Armor Mods, several similar functioning weapons filling similar sandbox roles, pressing X to respawn, and killcams?

Are those very Halo?

To answer what's wrong with Team Slayer, it's always revolved around controlling weapon spawn, player spawns, and holding advantageous map positions.

We've seen none of that in gameplay because of X to respawn and Ordnance Drops. The only element of Team Slayer that's still there is controlling strong map positions. However, that's easily broken with things like a Jet Pack.

I think objective modes are much more suited for mods and abilities than just the hokey looking Halo 4 version of slayer with "random weapon drops," ordnance drops, no power ups on the map, and pressing X to respawn. I know these won't be in ALL Team Slayer varients, but that's a whole different issue itself.

What's up Halogaf! I need some help finding something on the webbertubez.
Does anyone remember a few years ago that series of articles on MLG about all the historic matches, team changes, etc. leading up to a Meadowlands (I think) event? It was great and had lots of old videos accompanied by articles. "Pathway to Meadowlands" or some such, my memory is pretty foggy on the title. Ugh. I'm driving myself crazy looking for it, any help would be appreciated.
Carry on!

stinkles or david said this is not the default.

edit: beaten

I'm still curious why they didn't use the Recruit armor for the First Look, and the marketing, and they used the warrior helmet.

It's a skin, not an actual armor set.

Maybe they decided to change the default armor after there was so much negative feedback on the "Warrior" armor at first.

I don't remember seeing alot of criticism of the Warrior armor.

I really like the way that "Awareness" and "Stability" could complement each other.

Are they in different mod slots?

I dont believe Armor mods will not "change Halo forever"

But they will certainly accentuate how 'teams' divy out their roles and cooperate as a single unit.

I have 5 other people I play with on a very regular basis and we already have our roles ofcourse, but with mods we can really fine tune each of our jobs.

I can very easily see every one of us have a completely different mod loadout

However, you are right

I am also concerned for Slayer, I see the mods being much more bottlenecked in Slayer, only a few will be truly utilized to their max.

Hopefully Infinity is enough to keep it fresh, but only time will tell really.

Halo is an objective game, it just is, Halo is at its best during Objective team play, theres no denying it

(My) massive H2 nostalgia boners come some frequently from Halo 2 was the incredible Objective based MAP DESIGN and GAMEPLAY that followed suit

tl;dr
armor mods + obj = winning
map design will decide how h4 is remembered
halo = obj > slayer

I really like the way that "Awareness" and "Stability" could complement each other.

Are they in different mod slots?

possibly :/
i know that sounds horrible..
even being a member of team slurpee I cant spin that one yet.

Ill need definitive information on both, and we only have guesses so far
(on which mods go where)

It makes me a little moist to think about all the armor sets that have been revealed + how little of a percentage of all armor they'd reveal to us prior to release. I'd like to think they wouldn't reveal most of them, implying there could very well be like 30-40 sets of armor in the game.

Actually, you maybe right. They do look similar. Hopefully we get higher res photos of the armor soon so we can see what it looks like.

Look at the way the visor is shaped on the avatar and compare it to the guy on the left. I'm almost completely certain it's the same.

please, god no

343 has to realize how broken that would be.

I don't think it's that bad.

PV, Awareness, Stability.

Sounds like a crazy strong support class, but you sacrifice some pretty great mods for it.

Also, keep in mind there will probably be some harder counters involving radar scrambling and the like.

So to add to the frustration of all the exclusive armor, apparently the 'War Games Season Pass' comes with 2 exclusive pieces, the Scanner helmet and the Strider helmet.. So what about people who buy the LE and get the season pass, do we get those helmets also, or is it only for those who buy it separately?

For starters, it actually has a visor...
(I sorta like the new armor, but I miss more traditional, functional helmets, hope there are some in game)

It can't be the default armor because the only way to get that armor is to preorder it.

Why the hell are we still doing this preorder/sku exclusive BS?! Seriously, does this make anybody happy, because as far as I can tell it just ****es people off. I can understand timed exclusivity (or having certain armor pieces unlocked out the gate without needing to purchase them), but it is a disgusting practice to subdivide your content such that it is impossible for any individual to actual own all of said content.

Pretty sure the reward is the armor skin, not the armor

Because retailers pay good $$$$$$$$$

Pretty sure the bonus is only for the skin.

they need to chill the fuck out with "exclusives"

I dont care if they "unlock" them in a year, just stop giving people shit for buying it somewhere else

I gave up on my "we all need the same starting weapons stance"

But I refuse to accept that 3/4 people will have access to completely different armor sets

thats stupid

Wait, what, both the LE and LE Console have DIFFERENT EXCLUSIVE armor?
I don't care about the skins and i don't mind LE has exclusive armor but the console having different armor?

At this rate, you'll probably get an exclusive pre-order skin for not pre-ordering.

that's pretty true, look at that "exclusive" Recon Helmet for reach, or those "exclusive" grunt funeral skulls and MC avvi costume for anniversary, i wouldn't doubt it

Skins. Only the console and Limited Edition have a exclusive armor.

Yeah but there was 3 different exclusive pre order skins for 3 different stores for gears. All it did was piss more people off and cause people to buy them on Ebay etc.

Now with the Mt Dew, Console, Lt Edition, Season Pass, Pre order skins.

Its just more of the same.

I view classes differently than playstyles, but maybe thats semantics. I don't believe in a paper>rock type class system and from what I've seen of abilities and specializations, it still looks dynamic. Like others have said, there shoudn't be a meta game in the loading screen that effects the outcome of games.

Personally, there are things I'm worried about. Ordance and Mods/specializations are huge changes, but I think controlling weapons, spawns, and map control will still exist and that may be why it still "feels" and looks like Halo. The others you mentioned seem minor in comparison.

this is what im hoping for.

it would be nice if all of this "exclusive armor" can actually be unlocked in game, you just need to get to a certain level or pay spartan points.

hopefully things will be clarified soon.

I totally disagree with you, but I feel I can't sway you.

Difference of opinion I guess; agree to disagree.

If this is the case, and it is just early access, I'm okay with that. I hope this is the case.

I think that means the skin is for the recruit armor, not that you get the recruit armor. Also looked at a few retail sites, they don't mention getting exclusive armor, only an exclusive skin.
Bonus digital content through Xbox LIVE:
Unique in-game Spartan IV armor skin
Unique in-game weapon skin for the Assault Rifle
An exclusive in-game emblem
Xbox LIVE Avatar prop*
