Wait, am I reading this correctly?

MTV said:
include a 70-minute DVD with behind-the-scenes footage featuring the creation of the soundtrack, a hardcover book focused on the making of the soundtrack, a print signed by Davidge, a 12" disc featuring Cortana and the Master Chief, and an exclusive Avatar tee download code.

Like...a vinyl? If the special edition comes with a vinyl, I'm sold.

The samples are so good! Definitely sounds epic, futuristic, and intense. I think it's going to fit Halo 4 very well.

EDIT: Might be the first Halo OST I will purchase.

I swear to god I bought the Anniversary vinyl and every thrift store got cleaned out of their turntables the next week, and didn't get any to restock with.

Whoever decided to include the digital code with it was a smart person.

I still haven't redeemed it, thinking I might just give it away

So many highs, mids, and lows. And also auxiliaries!

I have a question. Given the spoiler nature of the soundtrack names, among other things, I would like to know the following. If Frankie or David could answer, that'd be lovely. Usually Halo soundtracks come out the same day as the game (or after). This one isn't. Would it be better to hold off picking up the soundtrack until after we play the campaign?

I'm very 'cited to pick up the album, but I want campaign to be as fresh as possible. If you guys don't think our campaign experience will be diminished, I'll pick it up the 22nd.

I hope it's exclusive to LE buyers. Would make sense that if they/we shell out the money we should have something exclusive. Right?

I feel like I had this discussion just yesterday and I know people feel very strongly on the other side of the issue, but if it doesn't affect gameplay then I have no qualms about having pre-order exclusives.

You're paying $400 for the console. These exclusives have no real value besides the work put into them which we are financing with the game. 'Shelling out' can't really be applied here when it is the console they are shelling out for.

Regardless of where you pre-order the game, you are always paying for the game. You are never paying for that 'exclusive' pre-order when you pick retailer X over retailer Y.

Of course these bonuses drive numbers for 'pre-orders' but those aren't beneficial for players at all and only serve to benefit retailers of most sizes. Look at Ireland. Gamestop is the only retailer which focuses on games. The other two with these exclusive bonuses are a toy shop and a video rental store respectively. I have no intent on ever buying from those retailers as long as a dedicated gaming one exists as I can at least assume some level of knowledge about the games. The video rental place is getting gungnir while Gamestop is getting the Canada armor pack. The idea that players who conduct business with retailers of lesser quality in order to get a cooler armor piece is silly.

The consumer is never benfitting really from these things. Gameplay doesn't need to be involved for this to be a shitty practice. It should be challenged like every other qualm people have with this game. I just love the franchise blah blah blah...

To offer my solution, I'd treat the armor pieces like Specilisations.

We have 8 Specs so far, right?

Everyone starts off with two. This will translate to the armory people start off with available for them to unlock.

You preordered at Gamestop? We'll say that unlocks armor piece X early. your buddy preordered at EB? Armor piece Y for him. Boom. Ye both have the pieces you want. The retailer gets their secured purchase in the bag too!

Now, treating these like Specs. Say there is a third prson who never preordered. They can unlock pieces X and Y but only after playing the game for a really long time. You can unlock piece Y if you spend a lotta time in the game and your buddy can do the same with your early unlock of X.

Why anyone should feel as though they are entitled to an exclusive armor piece forever because they placed an early order for a game is seriously laughable. Let them have it early as their bonus. The retailer had their early sale, let players have their armor early.

Everyone wins. Seriously. Retailers are happy. Devs are happy. Players are happy. Players can be broken down into;
a)People who preordered the game nice and early.
b)People who want to be able to get te use of all the in-game content.
c)People who never preordered but who feel as though they shouldn't be punished despite paying the same price as everyone else.
d)People who feel they deserved a bonus for preordering.

Why benefit only a small number of people when you can benefit everyone?

Of course, I don't expect things to change and can only call out what I see.

Like Revival least but it is good. Better than anything in Reach anyway.
Others, so good.
Now the remixes though i very much doubt i'll like them, there is no single remix from any song i've ever liked.

Sander Van Doorn Halo 4 remix.

what's going on

Listening to the OST samples before I delve into that, and as I said last night I'm liking what I hear, but I'm not overwhelmed by it. Yet. Perhaps once the Chief's on screen just doing shit I'll come around.

Listening to the remix samples right now.

The Gui Boratto remix is rad.

Apocolyptica remix is kinda meh.

Hundred Waters remix is pretty cool. Very very chill.

So Limited Edition soundtrack it is then.

EDIT: Just noticed these songs were uploaded by Neil 8 days ago. I wonder if they had them blocked until today, or if anyone randomly browsing Neil Davidge on that site could have found them and started listening to them.

Man, LE soundtrack bundle looks awesome, would love if they released a vinyl record like CEA.

Halo 4's setting me back HORRIBLY financially. My wallet's already bracing for impact, so far I got:

- $100 for LE game
- $60 for UNSC controller (need a new controller, why not)
- $75 for LE Soundtravk
- $200? for wireless Halo 4 headset (need a new headset, why not)

Working up to $500 alone on Halo 4. Wow. Not to mention there's going to be people out there who add the console to that list.
