Grenades have never been caught in textures, geometry on the other hand...

Bungie was on the right track when they started putting invisible walls over stairs, now we just need that on other things. But then again maybe when throwing a grenade at a wall that isn't flat you shouldn't expect it to bounce like it's flat. 343, give us more flat walls.

Yes. This was a good move on their part. Unfortunately, it's somewhat inconsistently applied and some staircases will randomly not have it. Boneyard has this problem on at least some of its stairs. I once shot a rocket through the gap in the stairs, missing my enemy and getting killed because of it.

So I think I finally figured out why the Spartan IVs designs haven't quite clicked for me... Their waists just seem disproportionately small:

Everything's top heavy, legs are sufficiently covered, but you get to that lower torso/crotch region and there's almost nothing. Makes them look like Evas. Or I guess more appropriately, like they're wearing a Varia Suit.
 
Here's hoping they get creative. That is to say that non-canon abstract maps for example would be nice.
Futuristic strip clubs, please. I'll finally be able to afford seeing what the champagne room is all about, and wearing a sealed suit of combat armor is the perfect way to do it.

The layout of the club is identical to the layout of the Halo 3: ODST Firefight map, Crater.

Would have been a better firefight map, considering it's geometry was literally ripped from the ODST map Crater. I will forever be pissed at Bungie for that.

Dare didn't have a mission, it's the final area of Buck's first mission and is the firefight map Crater.

Lets hope they don't gp overboard with geometry then. Adrift looks especially busy.
Devs these days seem to think more polygons on screen instantly means better graphics, it's a shame really. You can do a lot with a map that has flat walls and such with out it being visually boring.

Yeah. The playspace choices for FF were odd. Overlook, ugh.

The Covenant hangar was okay, which just just proves your point, Club Errera would be great for FF (assuming you deal with how to spawn in the covies, outside of dropships the spawns in Hangar are pretty easy to abuse because the shield doors don't block grenades).

So I played Halo 4 at Fanexpo on Saturday with some friends of mine. It was fun to say the least. The game felt a bit inconsistent with it's frame rate and there was a LOT of input lag. That could have been partly due to the TV and the fact that the game is based on a really old build. The strafe speed still felt really slow compared to Halo 2/3. I hated that indoor UNSC-looking map. AR worked well on that map. Me and my friends went again in line and tried the outdoor snow map. I had a blast playing that map. The long sight lines allowed me to dominate people with the BR and sniper. The forerunner shotgun is extremely satisfying to use even though it wasn't the best choice to choose for the map. I'm liking the new vehicle physics this time compared to reach which was a tad to over-the-top.

Probably due to the TV's like at SDCC

Remember 343 remove the motion smoothing and set input label to PC to eliminate that stuff for your PAX showcase!

Maybe thats why Unearthed is pretty good, it's the only Reach Firefight map built for Firefight. To bad it came a bit too late and had problems of its own.

ODST felt more like Firefight with a sprinkling of campaign, which is what I'm hoping 343 is using as a template for SpOps.

Maybe thats why Unearthed is pretty good, it's the only Reach Firefight map built for Firefight. To bad it came a bit to late and had problems of its own.
The only issue I have with the map is the really brown factory setting. The only thing that tips you off that you're in the future is the fact that aliens are constantly trying to kill you.

While you're correct that Club Errera was based on Crater, you're wrong that Dare didn't have a mission - it was Data Hive (and the firefight map Chasm Ten was pulled from it).

Would have been cool if they got dropped off outside the club, have that part playable as well.

I also wanted a special Saber firefight mission. Imagine waves of banshees, seraphs, phantoms, and maybe even a boss wave of taking down a corvette. Dream big.

Also, I remember having this discussion ages ago, but Halo 4 should have had a saber mission escorting the POA away from Reach. Then having your saber crash on Reach. Cue Lone Wolf.

Nah, the covie Hanger spawns enemies in w/o Phantoms, it's been age but I believe that a few versions (maybe Score Attack?) either doesn't feature a Phantom at all or only at the very end.

But see above: it's super exploitable. You can run up to the entrances and chuck grenades (or worse, fire fuel rods) and just watch the multi-kills rack up.

Heh - you're the first person I've ever heard try to argue that that's not the 'Dare Mission'. Yeah, sure, you don't PLAY as Dare - but it's still the Dare mission. ;)

To me, it's a Rookie mission, Dare is only there half the time and you don't play as her. I wouldn't consider it a Dare mission in the same way that Coastal Highway isn't a Vergil mission.

It's extremely shitty that there is only one human vehicle on the map and you have to wait for anything else on something that's hailed as a "vehicle map". Seriously, not even a couple of Mongeese so we could create our own version of RocketRace?

Remnants of a meteor? Never heard much about the backstory. I guess I'm so used to Generic Spikey Alien Stuff that I assumed it was some structure.

Not trying to be a dick, but chain guns are single barreled. Common mistake.

After I typed that, I thought: shit. I bet I screwed up the whole chaingun/vulcan/whatever thing. :)

I cannot wait, three more days of work until my weekend starts.

I am officially confused by the way, and unsure of what meet-ups are/are not happening. Did any plans get make 100% for sure yet or what?

Duncan is finalizing. We have one Thursday night at 7 (location being determined) and one Friday morning at 8:30 at the Athenian Inn.
