i got an unpaid internship (better than nothing right?) starting next month ... hopefully it will lead to something good or back to minimum wage retail jobs :(

I have one semester left and I'm trying to get a last intern placement before I finish school. I've already had a 6 months gig with the Federal Government, so at least I've got a leg up on that end, but holy Christ. The competition I've facing is ridiculous, and worse still, I've done next to no networking. Hoping my school's job fair next month will open some doors.

I might actually have to move to Toronto at some point because the job market for my field just isn't great in Vancouver.

Gonna get my BBA in Finance/Econ in the mail soon, not sure what I'll be able to do with it.

I figured out this job/internship stuff late and I'm kicking myself for it

I just quit mine this week from a small renovations company, because I just figured they are just a bunch of cheap ass motherfuckers that are exploiting interns for free work. They hired 5 interns just this week alone and now the interns outnumber the actual employees, asked them if there was a chance of getting paid soon, they said no, me and another guy left on Tuesday.

Hopefully yours goes better.

Lol Spec my last job was exactly a 6 month job with the federal government as a student then when there was those layoffs in spring, the students in my department got fucked. They let us finish the contract but didnt get extended.

And yeah just today I started looking at some job sites for Toronto and amazed how much better the market is there. Everything here is the public service with shit ass boring jobs that need a year of processing and evaluating before you can get an interview.

And yeah I wish I learned about this internship shit a long time ago.

A friend of mine got my position after my contract ended, and she didn't get extended because the budget cut came down and that position had to be axed.

It really sucks for me, because I was actually considering a job with the federal government after school, but that's out of the question now. I went back and visited a couple of weeks ago and my co-workers told me that outside hiring is pretty much dead at this point. All hiring is pretty much internal at this point in order to save jobs.

Which did you work? Also, at least you got that government gig. Most university grads don't even leave with anything, so having some work experience, especially with the government is a leg up.

If you pick the game up there you get a game with custom cover art (aka the player who's there). NHL13 with Henrik on the cover? AND a chance to meet him in person? hrng.

Nothing decent or any good. The last of jobs I have been offered was a sales person at a Lacoste store all commision based, and some rep for RBC that goes around various shops of Shopper Drug Marts in Ottawa, set up shop and try to sell RBC products. Declined both last week.

For Ottawa, it better not be stone hands Condra. I am guessing Turris since hes in town.

Given the quality of names they've gotten, you can probably hope for more than Turris. Kessel and Henrik? Better hope for EK. custom EK cover. THINK ABOUT IT.

There is some OG content (edits? lol), but I'd like to think that it's actually a great way of giving back to a writer who has provided so many NHL-based lols.

Most of it's stuff that I've read as well, but even revisiting the classic material is still lolworthy.

For those who pre-ordered NHL 13 on Amazon, any ideas why they don't list release date-shipping?

Edit: Hmm... it says I get the free 2 day shipping for prime and yet it still states it will be delivered on release date.

Not worth it, I think. Even the pre-order stuff sucks. Not that there's any other bonus to give — it's a sports game after all.

NBA 2K9 did a collector's edition with a Kobe Bryant figure and a mini locker. Now that's something I'd consider, at least.
