PAX is coming to an end (who am I kidding, it's over!) and I'd like to extend a very big thank you to all the GAFers who I met throughout the weekend. mastrbiggy, Heckfu, Tashi, Domino, Hypertrooper, and others i'm sure i'm forgetting (and apologize for doing so, I must have met 100+ people this weekend).

You guys are awesome, and a big part of the reason I love the Halo Community so much.

My new PC parts came today. With an Bag of Haribo sweets in the box. Lol Bonus. So now i have the fuck of figuring out the heatsink whilst xboxlive is down.

Steeeely. Good write-up.

I'm still kind of confused by the bloom on the DMR. So is it like its counterpart on the DMR in Reach or is it more like the sniper's in Reach in that it tells you when you can fire again?

To me, it sounds like the DMR has very slight bloom but it is so accurate the spread starts taking effect only at long range.

I recall reading it's more of a visual representation of when to shoot not actual bloom.

In Eli's new video he gets a Kingtacular medal for spending 30 seconds as King which gives him an Overshield. I wonder if we'll see any other power ups attached to medals.

I can't seem to explain what I'm trying to say, so bear with me...
From what I can tell the time the reticle takes to reset is slightly greater than the minimum time between shots. This difference (bloom time minus RoF cap) was much larger in Reach, and the magnitude/amplitude of the bloom was also greater.

Wow. Finally caught up. I was in Sydney all weekend and so I missed out on a lot of the info.

I'm glad there are so many positive impressions, I'm still not happy with the CTF changes and I hate the idea of perks such as sleight of hand etc.

The animation on the Boltshot is awesome.

Can you Imagine montage kids with Slight of Hand and a Sniper Rifle with added ammo?

Extra ammo in your primary spawn weapon wouldn't really be much of a boost, it's not that often I run out of ammo as opposed to say reloading faster which I'd see a benefit from every few seconds. In fact all the other Support Upgrades are things I'd expect to make good use of several times a match, having more DMR ammo isn't as I'd either die or pick up more before I needed it.

Normally I'd agree but I think having more ammo will matter more in Halo 4 because they'll be far more starting weapons--other people on the field might not have Carbines, for example.

Good point, but if it came to choosing more ammo or faster reload it's a really easy decision for me. A deeper clip on the other hand...

Am I late in noticing that your radar indicates when an enemy is using promethean vision?

EDIT: At least that is what I think is happening...

The red wave expands like a sonar wave.

Fucking finally, they said it would do something like that before E3, but it wasn't in yet.

It just looks like the radar is key to Halo 4 more and more.

THAT MAKES ME WORRY

To be fair, assuming MLG removes it, I doubt PV will be in MLG playlist.

I'm personally gonna be sound whoring, especially since I doubt most people are going to use stealth.

EDIT: Shogun, I'm going into Halo 4 like I do with all the Halo games. I'm giving the stock version a fair shot. I don't want a stripped out version. I just want all the new stuff to work at a high, competitive level.

Oh, I know, that's how it should be, but I think it's fair to assume PV and radar are likely to get chopped.

I think it's fair to assume radar removal but I don't think we can say anything about the AA's yet. MLG had Armor Lock in early Reach iterations (worked OK too) We just don't know much yet.

I didn't notice any bloom on the DMR. I interpreted the reticule as signalling when I could fire, as with the sniper in Reach. The DMR has a faster firing cadence than the optimal rate in Reach.

Radar has never been ideal for competetive halo. Utilising it won't be any more integral than any other halo, and probably less than 3/Reach because Halo4 is faster paced.
Nothing to worry about there IMO

No way i'm giving up Shielding and Dexterity perks for anything. I can use the Carbine or BR off someone i kill if I run out of DMR.

He does have a point. I hadn't thought about it until now. If the motion tracker is something that balances the abilities in the game, then removing it (as per current MLG standards) would potentially imbalance the game (no duh).

Just stating the bleeding obvious

MLG's approach to the game will be to strip out so many other variables that removing the motion tracker will work out fine.

Exile has a story according to the MS press release:
EXILE – Miraculously, the survivors of the UNSC Diadochi’s violent crash managed to not only recover provisions from the vessel’s debris field, but also use it as a makeshift shelter for several years. When rescue and recovery teams finally arrived, they were surprised to discover a healthy, burgeoning community thriving within the ship’s remains. Now this wreckage serves as a battleground in War Games. ‘Exile’ is an earthy, circular canyon bed interconnected by a network of caves and favoring fast-paced vehicle combat, while still offering frantic, on-foot action.

I really like "KILL THEIR CARRIER!!" and "PROTECT YOUR FLAG!!"

Played Halo for 10 years and almost never had a clue of which team was being referred to when the announcer said flag stolen, flag dropped or flag taken. I know most knew what the announcements meant in the heat of the action but it was always very confusing to me.

Even if Halo 4 multiplayer is awesome, I will always make fun of the distraction medal.

You're literally getting praised for sucking.
I thought this would be about flanking and then drawing gunfire and attention towards yourself on purpose so teammates can get the kill or capture (something I've been doing with no reward for years because I suck at shooting), but it seems to be way easier than that and you don't even need to stay alive?

In Tashi's defense, the first shirt pic was way more orange looking than the second picture.

Totally different colors!
This is clearly shopped so it must be dismissed as evidence.

Nice, I hope all maps are real places in the fiction with some backstory.

As long as they leave the base player traits/physics alone they can tweak loadouts, weapons, AA, perks, whatever. If they change the game too much (like they did with Reach) their player population as well as their viewer population will plummet. It can't be so different that it literally plays and feels like a new game.

Yeah this is one of those changes that I think helps with clarity, like having a timer instead of a bar on the flag return.

Motion tracker is an extremely retarded feature in halo but it has to be there because it always has been. Any competitive settings should remove it. It just makes the game campy.

We need to leave MLG settings out of this. I mean just removing the radar for a hardcore playlist. I would want the full AA, armor mod and weapon list to be available for every gametype. However, I'm just questioning what would break if radar was removed, and only radar. We actually talked about this in the last podcast with Bravo. We just don't know what will happen.

Again, not talking about potential MLG settings.

Agreed, let the game grow for a couple months and then see where it can be taken from there.
