You'd need a 6 GHz CPU for that. Here's hoping for 120Hz support as well, if this takes off!
I'm not exaggerating.

Ha, very nice.We call it Delight Town now.
Ok, let's see if my i7 Ivy Bridge is ready for this.

Here's a very short video I made super quick for those who want to see Dark Souls at 60fps. It's in low quality, but the framerate is locked at 60.

(60fps videos can be too demanding for weak cpus. Restart the video if you see framerate drops)
Careful with that site, if you use a plugin to block social networking site integration that site will try and DDOS you by re sending the integration you block indefinitely at such a rate it will jam your browser!
Imagine dark souls was as fluid as real life. That's 60fps.Why? Why does 60 fps make it look like a weird soap opera?!

I've thought the same thing myself. Looks so weird.Just watched the 60 FPS video... hmm.... As a rule, I like to think the more FPS the better, but maybe I've grown used to the locked 30 FPS because it looks a little too smooth for my taste.
Gotta try it myself, but my i5 2500k probably won't be enough to handle it.
this is why serious gamers only play pc games. there's no waiting around for developers/publishers to decide that the financials are adequate for them to implement something new, the community will make it so.
60fps? How is this even possible? Is the animation still 30?

Be sure to report back about your performance with that cpu. I'm running the same one at stock clocks - never put the time in to try to make it stable when OC'd.
Not at 60fps. I have the same CPU @ 4.2ghz w/ gtx670 and it just locks at 30 but with a few spots hitting at 45 and a few rare spots hitting 60fps.Have i missed something is there a way to make this work with online features without possible ban? or is everyone doing it in offline mode?
Also 2600k @ 4.2 enough to handle this at 3840X2560 + 1080 Dof, SMAA ect ect, like I've had it?(Running 7970)
It doesnt look weird once you're in game though. That video looked weird but in-game its pretty nice. I've gotten used to the 30fps and I just cant sacrifice SSAO for 60fps. 3840X2160, 2X AA, SSAO, Nice DoF, 30fps for me. If they can get 60 fps running with all of those on then yay but it's nice to have options when it comes to graphics

But then again I have 2x MSAA going on w/ SSAO. Actually, let me test it out right quick and I'll report back in a second.
EDIT: Ok, the answer is a definite no. You can run it at 60fps with 3840x2160 + 1080 DoF w/ no SMAA, no SSAO, and no AA at a pretty solid 60fps. With SMAA it starts to fluctuate a lot.

It looks weird because no one has seen it running at 60 before, so we're used to the crapness of 30fps. After a few minutes of playing, you can't go back. It's glorious.I've thought the same thing myself. Looks so weird.
No, that would need at least 140 FPSImagine dark souls was as fluid as real life. That's 60fps.
The issue is that the 60 FPS fix makes direct modifications to the address space of the DS executable. This would be detected by the GFWL cheat protection system (which promptly causes the game to crash), which is why a live dll from a crack is included that turns off live. This also turns off online (which is completely unacceptable to me in this game) and makes saves incompatible with those stored using your live account.edit: can we not access our game saves with the 60fps fix?
I think GFWL encrypts the save games so a version without GFWL won't have the same encryption and won't work. No, our eyes don't work like shutters. You can take a 1/200s frame, flash it, and the human eye will detect it...that wouldn't be the case if the eye operated like a shutter. And FYI, we can perceive flashing up to around 72-75Hz (called the flicker-fusion threshold).
30fps is a technical limitation of Dark Souls. There's no artistic reason for locking the game at 30fps.

Well, yes, our eyes indeed don't work like shutters in that we don't, well, "shutter" our eyes and so we can still detect changes well above what a camera at the same "speed" would detect. But when it comes to detecting motion and the clarity of that motion we're pretty darn close to a 1/50 shutter speed. Compare 1/50 video with what you see IRL and it'll be really close. 1/60 is just high enough that it starts to look unnaturally clear. No, our eyes don't work like shutters. I also maaaaybe take back what I said about 30fps not being an artistic decision. This is the first game I've played where I definitely don't prefer the look of 60fps. Not sure why.
The animation speed is tied to the animation engine's frame rate setting (which is somewhat decoupled from the render engine's speed), which is correctly adjusted by the 60 FPS fix. The only reason I can think of why it looks weird to you is that you are so used to seeing the game at 30. Like people who feel that 48 FPS movies are "weird".Weren't the animations tied to FPS? Looking at the footage posted it looks weird as hell and like some sort of TV 120hz effect, like sped up footage than actual smooth framerate. If it was done correctly, 60FPS would be superior.

Just play it at 1080p then. Where do I get the 60FPS fix and how do I combine it with DSFIX?
Yeah I'm going to stick with 30fps. Not worth losing online for, and my system isn't good enough to maintain 60fps @ 3840*2160.

I'm with you actually. I think 60fps here just seems too artificial, if that makes sense. The game runs perfectly for me and looks amazing at 30.
