Razan is probably my most-used tech now. Being able to knock things over so easily is very handy :p

So, after a while of using Techer and thinking about the skills... It lives or dies by Wand Gear. All the Techer skill tree really has to offer is that and support buffs. For pure tech damage output, Fire Force continues to win. Tech Charge Advance is like having maxed Mastery in every element, and Charge PP Revival's usefulness can't be overstated.

Techer is obviously supposed to be something like a Cleric. Fond of hitting things with blunt objects and good at healing/buffing. If all you want to do is throw techs around, Force remains better.

Yeah, I've been reading some of the Techer analysis over on PSO-World and it seems like it is just not a good class. All the remotely good skills save Wand Gear are buried deep in each elemental branch, and the S/D buffs are really shitty and not too useful in practice.

Also Rods seem like a better fit and ought to be swapped with wands.

Redownloaded the whole thing. 7'5Gb @ 93KB/s. Reinstalled. Error. Uninstaller didn't work, so DEL way. Reinstalled, goto 1.

Well, without Wand Gear, Rods are definitely a better weapon than Wands, but Wands are obviously designed around Wand Gear. Really, there's no reason to use them without it.

What they really need to do is change the Shifta/Deband skills so they increase duration by a significant amount. I rarely use them because of how short the duration is and how you have to stand around for all the pulses to even get it lasting that long. Giving me 20% more of a buff cannot ever be worth it. Maybe the Crit/Cut skills are useful but even so, I still don't want to be casting them all the time.

Still, I really like Wand Gear. I'm absolutely going to stick with Techer. If subclassing works the way it seems like it will, I'll end up a Techer/Force :p

Well yeah I meant giving techers a Rod gear instead, given that the better range of Rods makes them more suitable for Melee. Hell, rods in PSO1 were even designed for the purpose of melee, and the fact they were released as a Force weapon makes me think SEGA wasn't thinking too far ahead when designing the initial classes.

I'm really hoping master classes are in the pipeline. Techer doesn't fit my playstyle at all (I'm rarely closer to the action than middle-Talis range) but I'll probably be giving it a try once I have more time to play again.

I think the rods of PSO2 are more styled after PSU's rods than PSO1's.

As long as it means more loot, then bring on the new classes. I expect they would like this game to last at least as long as PSU did and it'll take throwing new wrinkles and experiences in the game like additional classes to do that.

I just mean that Rod Gear would probably be too strong. I assume that Wands are slower and with less range specifically because Wand Gear is so powerful.

I wouldn't complain about being given something too strong, though :p

Also, Rods generally have a more magician's-staff like look in this, while a lot of Wands are pretty much straight-up maces.

Personally, I'd like Techers to have both Rods and Wands, since I don't like Talises, but of course I realize that losing the weird Talis functionality would be bad.

Working after so many fixes here and there. Shame on you, sega.

Latest translation patch left so many things untranslated that were done in the previous patch :/

It was a quick and dirty patch, there should be an updated version soon.

Just wondering, do you need to update your "JP Enemy Names" file (ceffe0e2386e8d39f188358303a92a7d) too?
Yes, it's outdated. I'll fix it when we release the next "real" patch release (couple days from now--Mewn's been busy and hasn't updated, and he's the one who does most of the actual "can read japanese" stuff) is done, right now a lot of stuff is untranslated or placeholder.

Ha. It's been a while since I last fought the Tundra cats. They blocked off the area where you used to be able to get them "stuck" above you, unable to hit you for a while.

It never even worked that well, because they wouldn't stay up there :p

After doing some COs with my Hunter/Ranger and giving all the xp to the Fighter, he's finally 21. Now to hit the Flying Continent again with the 40s for the other COs.
To be honest I think they've did one thing wrong with giving access to the Normal Tundra/Mines/Flying Continent - all the COs that were implemented for those areas before require the hard mode anyway, so aside from grinding, there's really no reason to go to the low level versions anyway.

Talking about the Fighter, I think I've misjudged the Knuckles. After getting the ones from the Premium Package to +6 (250 atk) and acquiring some new PAs I fell in love with them. The infinity punch looks awesome and is really strong and the dash is very useful.
Good thing they've done it so you can get Knuckle gear for only 1 point without completing other skills in the skills tree if you've already got the Twin Dagger gear.
Still don't like sabres - they feel much weaker than Knuckles and not nearly as fun as the Daggers.

In other news, I knew that doing COs for the NPCs raises their affection level towards the character (which doesn't change anything afair), but I was really surprised when I noticed Clessida doesn't hate me anymore. Now her icon is a blue "-_-" icon, yay.

Also, bumped.org has translated the new post from the official blog, which contains quite a few interesting insights about leveling and how it was supposed to look. Can't say I agree with their view, since doing the same content with all the classes is really tedious. Guess I should have sticked with my Hunter and not touch the game after clearing the content from each update before Fighter appeared...
Seriously, you don't have to be a heavy player to hit 40 and still have tons of COs left. What should we do with them in their opinion if they don't want us to power level alt classes? Complete COs and waste those tens of thousands of experience points...?

Mmm, Mines. I love the big healy robots now. Finally something tough enough to withstand the almighty force of my Wand for more than 2 seconds :p

They seem to have made Tranmizer fights a lot more common. I've fought him 5 times today so far... Three times in one Mines trip so far.

Well, call that dumb luck but I've just found "Oboro", a 8 star Twin Dagger while doing some COs with my Hunter. Got it to +7 using limited grinders and yay, a weapon with 100 attack more than the one from the premium package. Now to get some sweet skills on it and I'm done until the cap I guess.

Well, what lacked between lvl 20 and 30 was quests variety, so having the 3 later areas available here is great, even if there's not many client orders for them.
There's also the matterboard, now it's possible to do matterboard 3, 4 and 5 between lvl 20 and 30, before the update matterboard 3 could only be started at lvl 30.

For me, the most boring part of 20-30 is the lack of COs. Yeah, running the same zones again and again was really tedious, but I find having to mindlessly farm mobs even worse. Depends on what type of player you are, I guess.

For me, just having free fields to do at all within the level range is very helpful. Being only able to do really short quests was where it got really bad.

Also it doesn't hurt that Mines is still my favorite area, so I can run it a lot :p

Ok, I just checked, since my sub palette disappeared again.
The [ button fixed this (there's a low chance that it was ] and my memory is worse than I thought).

Today I discovered I can't toggle the map while in TPS mode. What the hell.

On a related note, it's a lot easier to get Zan to boomerang when autotarget doesn't almost always ground it.

Binds are all separate between the two targeting modes. That's what the second tab is in the keyboard settings. Anything you changed in one, you have to go change in the other as well.

I've just checked and sadly, MB6 requires the hard mode continent enemies... Too bad.

I just discovered a new way to complete a Code Rescue: Run away.

Seems like if you get far enough away from the thing, no enemies actually spawn on it :p

Also, I just got a Gwanahda who couldn't be stunned. Normally he's exceptionally easy in a small area because you can quickly wipe out his tentaclaws, but if that has no effect, he actually becomes quite annoying (especially when he's 10 levels above you :p)...

Edit: Yeah, just got another Rescue and completed it successfully by ignoring it and moving on. They never took any damage.

Part 2 of the current PSO2 update to come on September 26th. New time attack, story, team room (looks great), team COs, team storage. Trailer shown on the Niconico live broadcast right now and can be watched on youtube here.

Edit:
They've also shown a really short preview of the new field -
RUINS
and the new boss (badass looking huge car-like darker). Youtube version here.

Can't wait to play the Vita/Smartphone version on Thursday!

I love that most levels are outdoors, (I still haven't got out of Caves because I'm reserving the rest for the western version) Most of PSU's levels were boring labs/underground/relics stuff, that's the fastest way for me to lose interest.

Post some impressions! I only want to know if there will be almost none/zero slowdown this time around. The PS2/PSP games were unplayable to me for that reason.

Here's a link to the video for Part 2 of the Sept update. The team room really does look great, it's huge and looks more like a lobby than a room!

Thanks for the video.
Ruins look great, but I really hope it doesn't all look like that. It looks a bit too much like a Floating Continent reskin imo, even the boss is giving me a Quartz Dragon vibe. I really hope they do something to make the areas feel a bit more like your progressing through them like in PSO.

i am fairly certain the late Winter update is going to introduce the creepy hellscape most PS fans expect from this planet - that expansion is titled something along the lines of Where Darkness Lies. First Dark Falz sighting?

Got to 30 with my Fighter. Only 5 more levels until I can clear the last 2 MBs with it and hopefully I'll be able to do it before the next update hits.

Team Features

Another teaser which demonstrated upcoming expansions to team functionality (among other things) was also shown. Again uploaded by yureinu1.

The team rooms are a fair sight different to what I expected. I thought it’d be something like the regular rooms for players but expanded upon slightly, where as this feels more like some kind of guild hall. I believe that the Team Room is only available to Teams that reach lv2, which your team can reach by first obtaining 3000 team points. You can obtain team points through Team Orders at least, it isn’t known whether or not rare items can be redeemed for them (ala Blue Burst).

It looks like you can acquire NPCs for the Team Room, but the video is too poorly compressed to get much in the way of detail from it. Wonder if they use Team Points as a currency for buying extra things for the Team Room, or if they in fact use points gained from rare item turn-ins as a currency for this purpose?

The Team Room also features a “Photon Tree” which can be grown and can give out presumably team-wide buffs of various flavors. No details about the actual mechanisms behind it.

With TGS in full swing by the end of the week, hopefully some more detailed information will come out for the more imminent additions to the game.

Did anyone record what just happened to us in the Free Forest? I want to remember it forever.
Too bad that the in game video recording hasn't been implemented yet. But yeah, it was crazy and despite all the buggines, the good kind of crazy!

I hardly even understood it as it was going on.

Two things I know for sure happened: Lag and EXP.

I said it before and I'll say it again, it was "Free Exp and (for me only) lvl cap items for all!!!"
I do wonder if it was caused by that invisible guy that was in the room as well?

Must have been. The codes calmed down as soon as he left and he leveled something like 35 ~ 38 in the mean time.

Grew, but I didn't catch the exact spelling. It was something like Grrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeewwwwwwww.

New English Patch is out. It translates the new stuff and fixes some of the old translated stuff that was missing in the Sept 12 patch. It's split up into 2 pieces, 1 8MB rar that has the basic stuff and 1 65MB rar that contains misc stuff (optional).

Also some more setup for future patches. The banner for the Autumn scratch and the scratch cards for Halloween and some other scratch.

The update site now has new information regarding the extended Team Features, Story, Autumn Setting and the new trailer.

Explanation of some of the Extended Team features:
ss_06_l.jpg

Bonus effects of the photon tree, from top to bottom: Attack, Defense, XP, Meseta, Rare drops, Photon Burst Chance, Increased PSE (?) chance, increased PSE time.
I don't understand the last part, since for example the the lv. 4 upgrade says 4 hours.
Anyway, the number of the right is the required point amount.

As seen in this team order screenshot:
ss_09_l.jpg

One CO can give for example 200 points. Guess the whole team has to work together to make it count. There's also a weekly limit of points you can get and it's 27k on this screenshot.

As for the Story Mode, only 1 new MB will be added, but we can expect new paths for the 5th and 6th and new story quests to go along with that.

Hmm. Code Escort. I've never actually seen that before.

Seems that the "keep far away" trick will work, but only if no one ever sees them.

The moment they get seen by anyone, something spawns and attacks them, and even if you then move away, while they won't actually get hurt, they'll never move on because they'll be in the "I'm being attacked" state.

And then when you do get close, they'll die before you can do anything. So, perhaps not ideal :p
