Ouch!

His Android problem lies in part with the fact that he has the worst Android phone available in Japan. Should've looked at the reviews.
Ummmm... SHOTS FIRED?

I would wager a guess that this is calling back to the comments by and/or involvement of Inafune in the dissolution of Clover.

Damn! I never knew there was bad blood there.

Given how Inafune has treated his co workers and the times he publicly threw people under the bus on top of all the Clover stuff it wouldn't be surprising if nearly everyone who has ever worked with Inafune has some level of bad blood with the man.

I don't know if Inafune actually had a hand in Clover's closing or not, but he definitely did publicly badmouth Mikami and Inaba at one point regarding Okami's poor sales. I can see why Kamiya wouldn't be too happy about that.

What a dick move.

I never used to dislike Infaune. You learn something new every day.

To be fair, he didn't actually name names. His comment was like "I won't say anything about the creative talent behind Okami, they did their job, but the producers totally dropped the ball and it's their fault the game failed".

Pretty sure this is not the first time Kamiya or Mikami make similar comments about Inafune, the guy seems like a pretentious dick that favored cheap western B-teams over the people that created the stuff that turned Capcom into Capgod.

So Nibel, what did his head smell like? I've always imagined it to carry the aroma of freshly crumbled Biscoff cookies and Selsun Blue.

Siiiiiiigggghhhhh... :3

Smelt like heaven to be honest - Inafune's head stinks and has stupid sharp spikes so

Kamiya's head > Inafune's body

Btw. I should have tweeted him a stupid question so that he would answered with "Use your brain" - and then I should have posted that pic of me sitting on his head and asking "Mind if I use yours instead?". Talk about missed opportunities!

Definitely understand the bitter relationship Kamiya has with Inafune. After all the last few years that Inafune was with Capcom he basically was the bad guy, slamming not only their own Capcom development teams (and specifically Clover studios and their lack of sales) but the entire Japanese game industry while praising western developers would lead anyone to get pissed at him.

Not only did Capcom shut down Clover but pretty much gave their franchises to western developers like Dead Rising 2, Bionic Commando and Dragon's Dogma was probably green-lit under Inafune's wishes or at the very least influenced by his decision. Seeing how lackluster sales were for a brand new IP that was most likely Capcom's biggest budget on a game it'd be infuriating after having your highly acclaimed studio shut down for sales performances. There's a point where even if the games aren't massively popular you should at least keep them under your company's umbrella since talent is hard to find.

I don't know whether what Kamiya tweeted is as much a slight against Inafune as it appears. In the sense that it's technically true to say Inafune is more a businessman/videogame producer than a famed videogame designer.

His actual game design credits are pretty minimal, all told.

Kamiya is clearly not talking about credentials. He is talking about the man's nature.

Yeah, but tell Inafune that.

People like to blow shit out of proportion.

That's why he is getting other companies to develop his game concepts, because he is not a creator, just a business man. Kamiya is bitter about Clover, I don't know the details, but if Inafune was the one pulling the trigger on Clover, he did the right thing from the money point of view, I can't see how he could jutified all the money wasted on Clover to his bosses.

From a game fan/creativity point of view of course it was a bad move.

Since I wanted an actual quote, I went ahead and dug this up:

Okami and Viewtiful Joe, I think, are wonderful games and because they are wonderful games I think, the job of the director was fantastic. But the producer didn't do his work. The producers work is to make the team make good games and then sell those games. The producer has to do the promotion. They have to think about the promotion. The producer has to take those good games and think about how to deliver it to as many users as possible. Certainly to get good reviews is part of his job. However, the producer has to make sure the game sells [on par with the review]. I think the producer dropped the ball there. Capcom said they would do it, but Clover said "Oh, we'll do it ourselves." And I think this was a failure.

It sounds like if anyone were to be livid about his choice of words, it would be Inaba.
