X-Com, Ass Creed, Dishonoured, Far Cry 3, Hitman, Resident Evil 6, Max Payne 3, Darksiders 2, Need for Speed are all / will be better I think.
I think they'll hate Dishonored and Hitman, not speak highly of Darksiders, or Max Payne, certainly not RE6. XCom, AC3 and NFS, sure, I could see that being their three. But Mass Effect would almost certainly be up for debate I think.

Did any of them play/enjoy Dragon's Dogma?

This year has been pretty pitiful for me. I can barely scrounge up 5 games I truly liked this year, let alone my usual 10 top ten list.

Off the top my head, (Journey, Trials, Borderlands 2, Max Payne 3, ME3?, Beat Sneak Bandit)

Hopefully Halo 4 and Assassins Creed 3 finish this desperate year strong...

Patrick was the only one who played it iirc.

Other great multi-platform games this year: The Walking Dead, Binary Domain, The Darkness 2, Counter Strike: GO, (maybe Max Payne 3)

And don't forget about single-platform downloadable titles like Journey, Dust, Fez, Spelunky; or even single-platform games like Diablo 3. This year has been pretty good so far!

What makes you think they'll hate Dishonored/ Hitman, seemed pretty positive about those two in previews.
Klepek liked Dragons Dogma, think he gave it a 3.

Sleepy Dawgs, Asura's Wrath, umm... Spec Ops?

Binary Domain, Darkness 2, UFC 3, Syndicate.

It's definitely been a shitty year, but I liked all those more than Mass Effect 3. I also thought Spec Ops was incredibly vanilla and that its storyline bordered on plagiarism, but that's just me. It was nice to see something different in a campaign, I suppose. Even if it certainly wore its inspiration on its sleeve.

Jeff was bragging about playing Xcom and DisHonored to Brad while he was playing RE6. Patrick and Jeff and I think Brad all seemed real impressed by DisHonored at previous events, and Patrick and Ryan seemed really into the new Hitman. And if they're not into it, well that probably means the new Hitman is not a good Hitman as both liked Blood Money.

Ryan seems way into Hitman, so we will see. And most of them seem pretty interested in Dishonored.

They are everything they've spent the last couple of weeks shitting on when praising Mark of the Ninja, and Ryan recently made some negative comments about Dishonored, can't remember where. We'll see, I could certainly be wrong.

Anyway, save your RE6 money for one of next week's games. I played a couple of those and am pretty excited about them!

I remember it. I wanna say it was a bombcast and he said the last time he looked at the game, it was pretty rough. But we don't know when that was, so it's somewhat moot. For as many dev diaries as Dishonored has, they've shown surprisingly little of worth or merit. A lot of sizzle, but not much substance. It looks interesting, but they haven't had their Bioshock Infinite moment that solidifies people in their purchase making decision yet.

And I don't think that moment is going to come until publications start playing it for people.

I wasted my RE5 money of Transformers: FOC. Man, I wish I waited.

If things stay the course for the next two episodes. The Walking Dead is going to get GOTY. I just know it. It's the only game this year that everyone on the Bombcast (except for Jeff who refuses to play it) was enthusiastic about.

Strangely, I can't think of a single game that feels like a GOTY candidate for GB. I can't think of anything that's really inflamed them or kept them talking consistently. Maybe XCom will do that, but that'd be such a strange winner. I could see it ending up being something they accept is strong, but don't really care about, AC3 or something.

GOTY is hard to discuss when a lot of the big candidates this year aren't even out yet. I think it's safe to say we'll see a stronger downloadable game presence this year though.

I don't see how it's the safe choice. You'll have to explain that one.

How is it not the safe choice? Everyone liked 2 and Brotherhood. It has a big budget, and there's been no negative stigma surrounding it. It looks to be improved upon 2 in almost every way, so why wouldn't it be? It's the kind of game you pick when a media outlet picks GOTY.

You don't pick XCom because it's a niche genre. You don't pick Need for Speed because it's a niche genre. A lot of them seemed burned by ME 3. Only 2 have played Sleeping Dogs. Far Cry 3 is an underdog. The only one who cares about Call of Duty acts like he cares less and less with each one.

You seem to have forgotten that they called the last release in the series "stale". They can throw as much money at it as they want, but if it's the same AC formula in a new setting, there is zero hope of it winning GOTY, and if you ask me it has just as much chance of being the same-old same-old formula as it does to be something new.

Revelations was practically an expansion pack for 2. Same animations, same combat system, same art assets. It was a 3DS game that was turned into a HD title that had to be done in a year. It's not anywhere close to the same thing.

AC3 is very different compared to Rev, but sure, anything is possible.

They can pretty up the engine and smooth out the combat all they want, if they haven't come up with some new, unique twist to the tried - tested - true AC gameplay, it isn't going to win much. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, I love the AC series and they could probably pump out 3 more of those games before I started to question their sanity, but AC3 better have a lot of interesting additions to it or it's going to garner the same reactions from the guys as Revelations: getting a little old, duders.

Also, I have a hard time calling a game I dropped 30+ hours into an "expansion pack".
