I did this run of Mega Man 3 a while back, but I'll post it anyway in honor of the anniversary! I hate this game :/

I've really been dying to play 5 again, even if level design got frequently compromized in favor of too-little-too-late gimmicky NES tech tricks and the weapons were junk.
Charge Man and the castle stages had some of my favorite music.
I just bought Mega Man Zero Collection for DS (because if I like it I will be buying all 4 of them on GBA).
I want to know if I love these games, will I love ZX and ZX Advent?
Are they still making DS games?? Any chance for a ZX collection for DS or 3DS???
Also if anyone would be willing to answer a fourth question...I liked the first 6 Mega Man X games, will I like 7 or 8 and should I get the X Collection????
ZX games are pretty similar to Zero games in terms of mechanics, but the Metroidvania style of the games don't make them as fun, in my opinion. Too much backtracking, and especially in the first one, lots of time getting lost and trying to figure out where you're going.
They don't seem to be making any more Mega Man games period, let alone ones for DS/3DS. Capcom sucks.
X8 is good and worth playing. X7 is one of the worst Mega Man games of all-time. But pick it up if you can find it for around $5, it's worth at least a playthrough since it has some interesting stuff in it.
If I love Metroidvanias will that mean I'll love these games more than you did?
Also, what did x7 do to offend you so badly??
You could enjoy it, they are definitely good games. The problem with being Metroidvanias, however, is that there's no incentive to explore or anything. There's really nothing in the world, and no character progression, so the world just feels hollow and useless to explore.
X7 added 3DS levels that played absolutely horribly. There's a gravity level that is singlehandedly the worst Mega Man level I've ever played.
Sorry if bugging you at this point, but how did you enjoy Mega Man 7 and 8?
I will plan on picking up MMX7 at dirt cheap then, thanks for the heads up.
You're not bugging me, no worries!
MM7 and 8 are well worth playing. 8 is a little too slow for me to consider great, though.
I love the animation and art style in 8. The music isn't bad either. I wish they had kept in this direction for the series. You're not bugging me, no worries!

5 is the one I'm most excited to replay. It was my first Mega Man game ever.

Oh man, I'm so excited to get to the X games. So much fun.
I've been wishing they'd put 5 on the US PSN. I bought 2, 3, and 4, lots of fun on a PSP, but I guess I sorta feel like my childhood is incomplete without 5 there![]()
Tried picking back up on MM5, but I just can't go on, got to the Wily Castle stages now and there's just something about this one that repels me.
Which is funny because of course it plays the same as the rest of them which I guess is sort of the problem, level design is okay, some nice platforming at least. But I guess the real problem with this one is the feeling that after 4 previous entries this was the best they could deliver? mostly awful weapons, hiding a few letters in each stage for a barely worthwhile reward, okay music but nothing seems to stand out as exceptional.
It's the sort of game where had I played it earlier on I probably would like it a lot more or perhaps a few years down the line i'll have greater appreciation for it but right now it just feels like the most uninspired entry yet.
Dust Man is so goddamn lame.
What is there, however, is a far more balanced game than any of the previous games, with no weapon truly outweighing the other, the second best soundtrack in the series, and a more difficult adventure than Mega Man 3.
Beat Crystal Man and his level. I only got hit once if I remember correctly, and that's because I jumped when I meant to slide. I've been playing all of these games with a goddamn fucking ANALOG STICK. Yes. But I have gone through 4 straight Mega Man games without dying once, so I am satisfied.
That said, Crystal Man absolutely destroyed me. As a kid, he was always the only one who gave me trouble. And this wasn't any different. During my no-hit run, I got lucky where he didn't do his four-ball crystal attack, which made him a cinch.
Oh well:
Crystal Man
Crystal Man isn't really one of those bosses you're supposed to go after with the mega busterI really like his stage music, though.
I absolutely loathe the special weapons in MM5, so I refuse to use them every single time I play the game (the last time I used the special weapons in MM5 was the first time I played the game when I was 4). They are all garbage, outside of a few cool uses of Gravity Hold.
Not to mention, outside of him, the Mega Buster absolutely destroys everyone else.
I remember when I first got it I was like "damn that's so cool", next stage I bust it out thinking it'll be great for clearing out rooms... and the damn thing bounces off of half the enemies or does like 1 buster shot worth of damage.
The only time I've ever though about using it was this one time in one of the Wily or Dark Man stages, I don't remember which. But it's one of those big red dudes that stomp you. You're climbing a ladder and sometimes he'd get to the ladder before I did, and I'd be stuck there.
I'd sometimes thing about using Power Stone to kill him since it would lineup perfectly, but then I'd realize that it would be much faster just to reset the room and then kill him with a mega buster than sit there for 10 hours waiting for the Shit Stone to kill him, hahaha.
For some reason, I was never really impressed with Mega Man 5. I don't know why... something about the game felt off to me. I told myself "it's bland" but it isn't. While it didn't introduce much to the series (Beat aside), the level designs were creative.... but something just didn't click with me. It became my least favorite NES Mega Man game.
6 has always been my least favorite... but I think part of the reason is because it's the only one I didn't play as a kid. I didn't actually get to it until I was in my early 20s.
Ironically I think I tried 5 once and loved it. ...Then I played the other games. I was pretty late to the franchise though, MMBN3 was my first Mega Man game.
