I don't understand why they would waste the time and processing power on a set piece that you would never see unless you're specifically avoiding playing through the level.

What's wrong with that?

The joy of playing Dishonored is the sheer amount of stuff the developers put in that the average player may never find. Entire sub missions and the like just hidden off.

I hate the idea of a Halo that doesn't have stuff like that, hidden away waiting for you to find it.

This can't be true that there is no theater for campaign, what is with campaign runs?
With awesome screenshots?

This is better false information

I'll be so disappointed if it's true. Look at how much fun we all had last OT sharing pics from Halo 3 about all the crazy stuff we did (silly scarabs).

I really hope that's not going away!

Campaign Main Menu list:
Campaign, Infinity, HaloWaypoint, and Marketplace. Below it says Spartan Hub
If possible in Theater of Disc 2 you can save campaign played games and possibly play it in the MP theater, but Idk for sure...

Well, okay then. That doesn't tell us anything, because Theater has never been a sub-menu in campaign.

Hopefully you will be able to save the film from your recent films and view in theater, like always.

The wacky thing about that entire encounter is that if you run in to the hangar and then turn back around and come back out to the beach there's a Pelican dropping off a few squads of marines to defend the facility from Covenant troops that are now being dropped off further down the beach (near your insertion point) by dropships.

There's a whole second battle that happens there and you get left out. I don't understand why they would waste the time and processing power on a set piece that you would never see unless you're specifically avoiding playing through the level.
You don't even have to go into the building for the battle to continue on without you. You can hang out there for as long as you can stand it, and you can grab a rocket launcher off a Marine and eventually stock it full with ammo as more troops land. The concept of it is great, but it's always the same repetitive fight and it gets boring super fast.

No campaign theatre mode?
That can't be right.

No doubt old man winter, I mean Wu did too. He's hiding in his man cave as we speak delving into Halo 4 goodness with his unkempt hair and beard. Shunning his family as they plead for attention.

Or something like that.
Heh - I'm not considered real 'press' by MS marketing; I'm not on that list. I was watching John Stewart when you wrote that note last night. ;)

In other news... I like Reach. Seems like a lot of hate in the last few pages - just wanted to throw in my good feelings to counteract a bit.

They're not commenting on the co-op net code because they probably have nothing to say. Just like with Assault, Juggernaut and all those other game types and vehicles. Expect the same net code from Reach to be carried over.

I just found it kind of odd that there's just an entire encounter hidden from the player that the game berates me for participating in. Everyone else moves up and in to the launch facility while I try and hold the fort down and all I get is "HOLY SHIT SIX WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING BRO GET BACK IN LINE."

It would be cool if it was challenging or different in some way - like a Spirit does a drive-by while a Phantom comes in and drops off a General, some Grunts and a Hunter pair. But it's just Grunts and Jackals, I think.

That can't be right. They wouldn't cut theater from Campaign entirely. No way. It's far too important a feature.

....right...?

I like Reach as well, but I think it's enormously flawed, especially as Bungie's Halo swan song. So many lessons from the prior games un-learned.

You're not alone. I really think Reach gets way too much hate. Damn good game. Sure I hate AA's but that's all I really truly hate with a passion with the game.

Yup, Marty is a hard man to top. Not sure if I should wait until I hear the music in context or just buy it and then proceed to bitch about it.

It probably isn't really fair to compare. Not a lot of it really jumped out at me but I am sure that will change once I hear it in context of the game. That said, Arrival is a fantastic track!

Hate is too strong word, i think. Dislike, sure.
Reach is a good game compared to majority of video games. With nice people it is easy to forget its shortcomings and just to enjoy it. It still has crazy Halo moments. But as a Halo, it doesn't quite reach the bar (no pun intended). I think of it as Reach, not Halo (of course this is mainly to avoid confusion to other Halos...).
Speaking for myself only, of course. Small things bother me easily.

Yeah, I really don't like the trend in modern games to have a fully voiced npc harrass you to pursue the mission objective. Halo is a big offender there, but far from the only one. Dishonored doesn't do that, and it's fantastic not to feel pressured.

We're not encouraged to explore anymore, the games are always pushing us to move forward and see the jack in the box pop out at the end.

It's certainly worrying but we won't know for sure until we see what's in the recent films area or the Theater UI, etc. Remember that Theater has always been its own mode from which you access recent films & saved films. I'm concerned, but not freaking out yet.

....right...?

I thought they wouldn't cut Assault, Juggernaut and all those gametypes because they were important to some people, but guess not.

So much we are hearing from these leaks sucks, hoping they'll clear up the lack of some of these features.

I would hope not. Campaign screenshots have always been some of my favorite. And I don't know if this has been confirmed yet, but have they said that Spartan Ops would support theater? I really hope so because I could see some awesome screenshots being made from it.

I assume campaign can still be recorded but we just have to access theater through the Infinity. Hopefully we will get some clarification.

I expected a fair amount of game type pruning, but Campaign theater is a baseline feature. It's like cutting online co-op at this point. If they really did get cut, it would be a fail of enormous proportions.

Edit: to clarify, I'm not assuming it's cut. Quite the opposite. But some clarifications would be nice.

Well, Infinity is access from the main menu, and Theater is accessed through Infinity...

I'm assuming that Infinity, once installed, isn't launched as a separate game entirely as the Anniversary Multiplayer was, and even then they actually run on the same engine...

I would still like confirmation on this that isn't in the same vain as Soon or "We'll reveal more details closer to launch."

Why would they have 2 theatre buttons?

Wouldn't it make more sense just to have the campaign clips show up in the Infinity theatre area?

Anyone know if the remixed tracks feature in the campaign? Awakening is spectacular, and I totally see it fitting beautifully with some downtime segments.

Not really since disc switching can be required. At least I think so, you can just run multiplayer off disc 2 can't you?

Maybe Campaign Theatre is only with the purchase of the LE. Finally, a good reason to buy it.

But 3 days before launch we will find out it isn't :p

Almost assuredly not. We know it's an install disc and multi is playable from disc 1 after you install. They aren't in the business of providing people a way to let two consoles play multiplayer with only one copy.

You've got to be kidding me. I am trying to stay positive here and just believe it's in, but looking at those pictures...tells me a different story. What is the logical explanation for removing theater in Campaign? Cutting features seems to be the name of the game here. This sadly is a trend with many modern games.

Exploring the Halo 3 levels with the camera and pan cam were some of my fondest memories. Breaking out of the barriers on The Ark and many other levels was so cool. You'd search and randomly come across a hidden gem or a great POV for an awesome picture. Or on Valhalla, breaking the Banshee out of the barrier and flying into space. You'd see the blue sky above you slowly darken, then before you knew it you were in space looking at darkness and stars. Reach killed this with the additions of time out zones, reducing one's ability to explore the awesome environments. Now with 4, exploration is practically done with. Try to go where you are not supposed to and get killed by a countdown.

Ugh, I remember playing Delta Halo on Halo 2 and driving my Ghost around the mountains of that environment for hours. Why do developers do this? Do they not want us seeing 'unfinished' parts of the level we wouldn't normally see? I don't give a shit about missing textures and unfinished graphics, I just want to explore...

In the 1st picture it says "Resume Campaign" and underneath it, it says "Campaign", so this isn't the campaign menu, it's the main-menu.

No Theater for Campaign just can't be true. There are so many funny/awesome things happening, that we should be able to capture.

As I explained before, even if Theater is a selection from Infinity Menu, I remember I wasn't able to see my clips from the campaign.

The theater in Halo 4 seems to be worst than it was in Reach. I explain:

In Reach, theater saved automaticaly your previous games and you could watch it when you want with a temporary files save, directly from the theater. Now, you have to go to the main menu, press start, going to file directory, search your clip then save it to view it in the theater.

And when I was doing that sort of thing, there were no campaign clips, only multiplayer, even if I had finish a level from the campaign.

But I think it will be okay for Spartan Ops, 'cause it's from the Infinity.

So weird to cut that feature. I loved snapping great screenies in Reach then putting them up on Bungie.net to use as wallpapers. :(

You're still able to get out of levels in Reach.

No wonder they have refused to discuss Theatre at all.

I'm sure they'll have their explanations but really, it isn't good enough that it didn't make it in. To think that Halo 4 has a significantly reduced and nerfed main baseline feature compared with Halo 3 and considering how well polished the rest of the game is, is a disgrace in light of the technical pedigree of the developers.

I know why there's no campaign theater: Theater really is a way for the Spartan IV's to watch their training and their spartan ops missions. How could they even view the Master Chief's campaign?

It's all in the canon.
