As I've mentioned a few times in the thread, I shot a couple of weddings this summer. I've put together a sample of the photos, which I'm very happy with!

I'm on a college student budget so I only have the 18-55mm kit lens so far. I've been looking at a tripod and Canon's 50mm f1.8 macro recently though.

Damn nice shots of the leaves, with the lens in question. ;)

Umm, is there a macro edition of the lens you are thinking of getting ? As far as i know, my 50mm one says the minimum focus distance is 0.45 cm, that is why i am getting a 100mm Tokina 2.8 the minimum focus distance is like 11 cm or so.

Inspired to play with photomerge after doing some more reading about the Brenizer method. While I didn't follow the method to the "T", I did catch some focal points I wouldn't have otherwise in this light, and added a bit of sharpness.

I guess you are happy with them!

I really don't keep tabs... what do you usually shoot with?

How are you guys getting your Instagram photos on here?

I'm just pulling them off my phone and resizing.

Not sure what hEist is doing... his look a lot cleaner.

Awesome results with that lens.

@aidan: you look like you've been at it for years.

I am not a professional photographer, but here are some shots I took last year and a few days ago. Did not photoshop anything, since I dont even know how:

I still have problems finding good motives :(

You'll have to forgive me, as these are really, really bad. All I had was my kit lens and it was really, really dark, so most of these are at ISO 12800. Still, it was a fun show!

^^Would love to see bigger versions of some of those, heist. The first two for example look gorgeous. You getting into more portrait photography?

Also great stuff Magical Drop, welcome to photo-gaf!

Finally shot some new things myself after a looooong time of the camera just gathering dust. Will post some more after I get done editing, here's one atleast:

would love to make more portraits, but not so many people around, who want photos... but yeah, i'm trying and loving people, who can act in front of the camera.

Random hipstershots from my hipsterwalks in nature.

Been a while for me. Was busy at work, then got fired from work for no cause of my own, then got a couple of job offers shortly there after and have been working the new job. Still been keeping up with the threads. The photos are particularly good as usual.

@Magical Drop - glad to have you and welcome. I particularly like 1 3 4 and 5.

Thanks for the welcomes and comments - I've been a bit slack with my photography this year, so hopefully this thread will continue to inspire me and to get back into it.
I know that feel :-/ Everyone is camera-shy around here it seems.
I've been having the opportunity recently to shoot a fair number of portraits for family, friends, and friends-of-friends, and I've really been enjoying it. I remember when I first started with photography I was so afraid to shoot people, shy and afraid that they wouldn't like the photos I took of them. It's such a rewarding feeling, though, to show someone a beautiful photo of themselves or their family. Portraiture and candids are definitely becoming one of my favourite facets of photography.

Heist, you depress me. I think it's because you take the sort of pictures I want to take, but I have zero understanding of how to do it.

Really impressive stuff. You should teach/write how-to guides.

Every time i think I've taken a good shot, i see hEist post and think "...fuck this shit." Inspiring and defeating at the same time.

Not that there aren't other great photographers here, but it's hEist that most seems to have a gift for capturing the mundane and making it magical.

I have the Nikon D600, haven't used my Nikon D90 since.

Sell me that unused D90, I would love to use such a beast! Someday I will get something better than an ancient p&s... Thanks for the inspiration, everyone.

here are a couple I've taken in and around Glacier National Park (I apologize for the relative poor quality):

I think that you are doing a great job. Lately, I haven't had the time to shoot as much as I want. Been working my ass off, going to school, and no time.

I was lucky enough to make it to the pumpkin patch this weekend and get a few shots in.

Heist, how the hell do you get environmental shots like that?

Thanks a lot guys.
Well, it's now 4 years since i began this hobby and it is still just a hobby, too bad.
But with passion. When i don't have my camera with me, i am daily shooting with the iPhone/Instagram. The best method to get captures like this? Many many many photos.
In this whole 4 years i took more then 20k photos on 3 different cameras. You have to see my first 2k photos. When i now look at them, i just smile and think "that was me?"
Only >500 made it to my Flickr Stream.
There is no real "trick" in this. After so many photos you automatically see the world "different". And it's not always the photo, it's also the processing. I'm playing with photoshop now about 12 years. And it's always try and repeat. Always learning new methods of processing. And trying to improve here and there.
It's just: Take photos. That's all. Play around. Think a bit different. Try to find the perspective which you like, where your eyes/mind is pleased. That's how i do it.
And my other method: always music in my ears while taking photos.
