In terms of theater, from every impression I've read Halo's fortunately more fun than it's ever been—a return to form, if you will. That is a sacrifice I'd vote for if I was at that development meeting:
"So with the way we're doing things now, implementing campaign and spec ops theater is going to take some serious investment. Should we take people off of core projects involved with multiplayer to make this feature hit our launch window? Where can we make cuts?"
Halo 4's making some big changes, a lot of which are limits or cuts, but I believe they're a necessary evil in refocusing the series.

Lol, that was...interesting. Kinda fun, but too bad it makes the game looks crappy graphics wise.
Why couldn't chief have looked more like this for the first few missions?
I like it, but the edges are all way too round, it kinda gives him a way different feel.

I'm getting that Mk 6 armor and I'm never taking it off.
(not saying the rest are bad, but Mk 6 just makes me feel so good)

I don't need one but wouldn't mind one.
A lot of the helmets are cool in that chart but some are still derpy. I don't even get what Defender is supposed to be aside from looking like a Spartan that just ate a Sour Patch Kid. War Master looks like a monkey. Pioneer is a happy spider.

Yeah, whenever I get H4, definitely going with Air Assault. Recruit is merely an insult to ODST's memory.
Not really an answer, but aren't there challenges for campaign still? Pretty sure I saw some streamed footage where it was shown.
Edit. In regards to campaign scoring being gone, all that stuff is tracked by Waypoint in Reach (even without scoring turned on). Hopefully it's the same with Halo 4. Sure, you don't get the medals and the points but you get the basics at least.

I like that they give you the best helmet right at the start. Good holdover to Mk VI.

Someone needs to make some GIFs of the Mountain dew commercial.
Air Assault, Wetwork & Venator for me. Though I see scanner being the perfect trolling helmet what with the virtual boy glued to the head.
Also CQC has been dethroned as ugliest helmet because Ranger is just plain hideous.
