Guess it's time to buy a USB drive and preorder the game. Still running my old halo 3 Xbox. There's like 3 bytes left of storage on this thing... lol

Morning HaloGAF... back to work on the Forge OT for me. So much to do with so little time. I'm currently sticking with:

Halo 4 Forge |OT| More than just a Shade of Grey

Since so few people have weighed in. :p

So... no Spartan Ops theater either?

Same engine. Same great letdown taste.

Expecting it doesn't make it hurt any less.

Damn. Just last month we had pages of awesome Halo 3 pics, reminiscing on our favorite romps and encounters. From a game released five years ago. Now, that's gone. I'm excited for Halo 4, but I'd be lying if I said that excitement wasn't undercut a bit now. I never thought we'd lose a feature as big as Theater.
The knife in the chest was the Spartan Ops trailer, showing us a bunch of 3rd person viewpoints and actions that we'll never be able to capture on our own.

Ugh, I made a personal vow to not bitch about the game any more before I get my hands on it, but no Theater and apparently no scoring for something that was touted to be such a big thing for the franchise just sucks. I'm sure the reasoning behind it's exclusion is a just one, but that sure doesn't make it suck any less.

The trailer was pretty cool, though, so there's that.

ONE WEEK, and I'll be roughly 8 hours into the campaign.

One more suggestion...

"You can have it in any color as long as it is grey".
Or however Ford said that originally. Just replace black with grey.

Well, if by some miracle Ops and campaign networking is a step above Reach like Reach was over 3, that's some balm in the wound...

I'm planning on getting a cap card along with my complete desktop rig redo as soon as new Mac Pros hit in 2013, so I won't feel the suffering in the same way, but yeah it's definitely not the shift towards democratizing more elements the way I hoped.

On the other hand, this probably means a lot more of the vids and machinima that comes out will be higher quality because of the technical barriers.

So only multiplayer theatre? Like others have said, I'm sure they had a good reason for not including it for Campaign and Spartan Ops, but it kind of undercuts their whole 'watercooler' motif for Spartan Ops if you can't share the screens and videos with friends. Surely actually being able to show footage and pics would be a much better experience between friends than simply talking about it and would exemplify their ideology behind creating Spartan Ops in the first place.

Seems a weird thing to cut and overall, bad for community longevity.

Too salty for those of us who actually like Forge. :p

someone tell me why I did this

I hate that I love graphics

*fixed spelling (hopefully)

Were you planning on adding the Armor Abilities as well to make it a go-to resource for loadout planning?

Anyone else kinda disappointed that there are only 3 different promethean enemies? I would have hoped we at least got some kind of heavy class, like the hunter.

Yeah, me. Especially since the Promethean tactics seem to be relatively static... Sure, Battlewagons and Snipes will mix things but there doesn't seem to be as much variety as the Storm has.
However, when you count the total number of enemies (7) and the fact you rarely, if ever, see all of them in one battle, i'd say 3 and variants is enough.
Maybe Halo 5...

YES! I've been thinking this since they were unveiled. I also don't see the knights jumping into any kind vehicle, which makes them all the more stale. Even the different iterations of each enemy are too similar. On top of that, we're gettting less enemies in the covenant than before too.

I am not really disappointed. Just a little bit. The Prometheans are a great addition. I had tons of fun fighting against them. They are new and work together unlikely the Covenant. If a heavy type had disrupted this "balance", I'd have had a completely different anticipation now. At the end I am okay what we will get or got.

In regards to networking, I'm one of the few lucky slobs that have rarely had problems with co-op lag in Campaign or Firefight. Maybe the fact that the SpOps episodes are short will help with the load time and synchronization between everyone playing (If what I said actually means anything).

Not bitter, just unsweetened
just wait

they'll hide deaths in waypoint like it's not an important metric

"good for you, you killed lots of people!"

we'll be playing halo 4 at this time next week guyz

also waypoint's update looks useless. b.net halo 3 still seems lightyears ahead of waypoint

I'm pretty sure they only showed off the mobile and Xbox Waypoint apps, not the actual website. Although they did use a cursor for what seemed to be the Xbox app.

That's nice and all but that stuff (at least the stats) should be in the game itself and not some Xbox app that you have to download and have to boot up every time you want to check something really quick. I guess it's nice for people who don't have a PC nearby.

Agree. The stats should be accessible in game. Not on a second screen (tablet, etc.) or through a messy Xbox app that forces you to jump out of the game. Maybe the game itself just couldn't handle all this extra data (disc is full?) so they had to outsource it to Waypoint...

So it seems as though those watercooler moments that were mentioned as the benefit of SpOps will be just that. Without Theater it'll just be one of those things were you are left describing it without any screenshots or video to go with it. Tis a mighty shame.

Something else you guys will like a lot. The aiming and movement is VASTLY improved over Halo 3 or Reach. Making quick snap shots is a lot easier and the aiming over all just feels very fluid and nice.

Same goes with movement, also you really do feel like a tank.

How did nobody see this?

Sounds awesome!

Anyone know any mom and pop stores that have broken street date here in Miami?

I find Halo 2 to be easier on legendary than CE the vast majority of the time.

While the random snipers are annoying; I don't find them to be terribly difficult to figure out.
Halo 2 is trial and error more than anything.
And you can skip past half the game.

Indeed. The snipers are always in the same places, once you've memorized the locations, all you need to do is to shoot them before they shoot you.
I hate how in Halo 3 they spawn in random place, they either have multiple spawn points OR they have a spawn arean (seemingly), which means they might not be where they were before restarting from checkpoint. To compensate, they nearly always miss the first shot but still...

So this is what I have so far for the Forge OT; the full Forge Environment map descriptions, I have descriptions of the new features, a section on Forging communities and a little blurb about each, a section at the top for news/updates as well as a section for events (like ForgeGAF customs), a section of released forge videos, and two resource sections. One resource section is dedicated to the technical aspects of Forge like gametype creation, forge object lists, sketchup components, etc. Currently I have only one technical resource, but as time goes on I'm sure more will pop up among the community. The other resource section is dedicated to level design theory resources around the interwebs.

I was thinking about setting up a Google Form/Spreadsheet for ForgeGAF maps (thanks for the idea Mr Big ;)), but I've yet to setup something like that so it might not be right away. lol...

Anything else you guys think needs to be added? I still have to add the resource links, but without those I'm sitting at about 17k characters. Still have 7K worth of character space available and I think I may want to leave about 3K for future updates/resources/etc.

That's not you.

Ignoring fools is the best policy.
I have rarely had issues either, so I'll no doubt enjoy it regardless, but apparently our experiences aren't the norm.

Don't make it too long. If it were up to me I'd stick to a quick explanation about what Forge is (With the Halo 4 Forge reveal video), the new Forge maps (With the 3 videos of each map), the new additions and changes to Forge, the list of HaloGAF Forge maps, and links to helpful articles about Forge (are things related to it). OPs are meant to give you a basic idea of the content of the subject of the thread, that's all.

Halo:CE more fair than Halo 2? LOL. Halo 2 has Jackal snipers and dual wielding Elites. As far as I'm aware, there are no monster closets. Everything is spawned in and can subsequently be killed. Halo:CE has monster closets in every Flood level. It's fair in the sense of AI ability, but definitely not in terms numbers.

I'll say this, the first 5 missions of CE hold up pretty well after 11 years. But the last 5 are old, awful gameplay that can quite frankly die in a bottomless pit, and only the CE purists would give a shit.

That's pretty much exactly what it is minus the list of HaloGAF maps and with a list of Forge Communities.

Debating whether or not I should solo legendary my first playthrough of the game. I want to unlock the Mark VI ASAP, but I don't want to risk spoiling my enjoyment of my first playthrough...

I wouldn't say the first 5 missions. The Silent Carthographer for sure. Halo, just about. AOTCR... hmm, meh, IMO, too repetitive due to interiors but i'll count it as well, i think Two Betrayals is better though. Beginning of Truth and Reconciliation is good.

So I am looking at this picture and holy shit, 6'9" and 241 lbs? So now they can grow these Spartan IVs after they have reached full maturity and adulthood?

Muscles, sure, and growing those definetly increases weight. But as for the height... i'd reckon she is just very tall. But we don't know the details about S-IV augmentations.
