I genuinely will be amused if it's worse or better than the prequels. Because hell, if it's worse, that's impressive on a whole other level. I don't know how involved Lucas will be either, considering his earlier stance on Episode 7.
Also, fucking really at Christopher Nolan? That's just what we need, an uber realistic Star Wars!

The problem is that I expect it to skew even more kid-friendly than the prequels.
If they surprise me and make it more all-ages appealing a la Avengers, it could be a good thing.
But, yeah... kiss the EU goodbye. That's all non-canon now.
Although what they should really do is just say screw it and do Knights of the Old Republic (the setting, not the game... although the game's plot wouldn't be the worst thing in the world).

why is this bad news? as long as George is not to much involved without having someone to tell him what is good and what is not this could be pretty awesome.
Just think about it, if we get a gritty back to basics star wars film with a great director on it this could very well be awesome.
I would like to see a more dark side to the story, not so much focus on kicking the emperials ass but more focus on a side story within the star wars universe.

In all fairness it's not like they could make it any worse, so sure why not? Also I don't see how they're going to do Zahn or any of this other EU stuff people are posting; they would have to completely re-cast all of the actors, which I don't see happening.
