Ahh, the memories. I bought a ps2 to watch the matrix on DVD basically, haha.
Yeah any link to the actual tweet??
It will certainly be coming to an end soon though surely.

The Next One game shop in Nabari's Twitter is reporting that production of PS2 is ceasing and anyone that wants to pick up one should before it's too late.

Just like PS1 production was stopped in March 2006, about 6 months before PS3 launch. Which mean PS4 should launch 2013 and not 2014. And another reason to believe that Sony didnt ship over 2 millions in last two quarters. More like 800k-900k at best o even less.
12.8m units a year over it's lifetime.
Stunning.
Will another home console ever top it?
fucking incredible.
what a run. there may never be another dedicated video game system that outsells this thing.
edit: oh man. so it's fake maybe.
fucking incredible.

GAF --> Fake Twitter --> chatrz --> magicbox -- GAF ?
This is not official! (yet)
Apparently, the source of this news comes from the Twitter account of a game shop in Japan, but the tweet no longer exists.
Some sites saved the tweet. Translated into English, it reads: "It appears that the PS2 hardware has finally been discontinued. People who want one should purchase it before stock runs out."
If someone has any other source, please chime in.
SCE has not said anything about discontinuations of the PS2 yet, although it's entirely possible that they will announce it soon.
Yeah that basically was year 2000 bliss
GAF --> Fake Twitter --> chatrz --> magicbox -- GAF ?
There is nothing on Sony's twitter.
Also seems a bit premature. Japanese companies usually produce consoles as long as they sell, and PS2 still does. Hell, NES wasn't discontinued until 2003!
Yup, that and Snatch. It was its DVD playing capabilities that motivated my mom to buy it.Ahh, the memories. I bought a ps2 to watch the matrix on DVD basically, haha.
I don't think the NES was actually manufactured after 1994, though, Japan or elsewhere...
I'm pretty sure they actually did.
No matter what, PS2 is still selling to well for it to be killed off.
Farewell my good friend, there won't be another PS2
More like Nintendo started cutting support so they could move on the 3DS.Kind of funny that the DS started dying after coming close to surpassing PS2.
I'd heard that they had repair services and such, but the last new Famicom game was released in 1994. Maybe they had some token number of systems produced a year, but as they weren't making any new games for the system after '94, no way were they making lots of systems either.
That date makes much more sense for the SFC, of course, considering that that had new games in Japan until 2000.
The king is dead. Long live the king.

What are the latest confirmed numbers for DS?More like Nintendo started cutting support so they could move on the 3DS.
