I have a question and I think this doesn't deserve its own thread, this photo is not mine and the person that took it says that its not edited, my head hurts now because I can't imagine how this photo could be made, I know the model didn't just jump because she couldn't be in that position and her hair would not be like that, Can anyone help me? I feel like I am obsessed now.

Images like this are usually done by taking a pic of the background first, adding a model and having the model stand/sit on something, then merging the pics and deleting the support object.

Yeah, it looks that is a photomontage but he swears that is not, he took it in just one shoot and its not edited =S

Sounds interesting, could you point me to a "how to" video or tutorial???

Took this while driving along the seawall in Galveston
I was shooting a wedding and my assistant was following the bride and groom in their rented classic car.

I barely had time to snap this. Wish I could have gotten out of the window to do it.

Usually lurks around in this thread so here is a contribution, all taken in Warsaw.

I just discovered that I really like the concept of putting two pictures next two each other, do you guys know of any photographers who specialized in this or just some good examples of it? Would be nice to see how pros do it.

I think you just showed us. Talk about perfectly timed shots.

I expect she's sitting on something that's attached to the tree in the background and hidden by her body. Her obscured right arm also suggests she's balancing herself on something that runs into the background.

David Hilliard is one of the best I've seen at it, some examples of his work are:

I'd recommend checking his website to see more examples. His work is fantastic.

Darkness no more
The light here is wonderful
So soft

Are you using a box diffuser or a bounce?
And what lens are you using? 24 prime? 35 prime?

Those are my first time playing with something completely top lit. It's a 60 inch octabox on a boom directly above the model. Just the one light. Lens is Canon 24-105 f/4. I don't own any primes.

Well, it looks excellent.

And that lens looks super sharp. Maybe it's just the resizing. That was my first lens with the 5DII and I wasn't pleased with it, but that was back when I lacked experience.

Some photos from more recent trips.

Awesome work and interesting subject matter.
Great framing and lighting. Really impressed.

Again, I'm interested in the gear used if you want to share. Those wide shots look tack sharp across the board.

After giving it a lot of thought (and because my friend won't reveal his secret) I think this is how he did it because if you look at her arm it seems that she is trying to keep balance on whatever she is sitting on maybe aided by her occult hand. But he will never tell me if I guessed right lol

I've always found mine to be super sharp. I use the 5DII now, and used to use it with the 60D. I generally prefer my 70-200 2.8 II now, but I still use the 24-105 in tighter locations.

So I have to know...
Was this just expert post processing or some kind of subtle HDR?

The final effect looks flawless.
Well exposed sky and plenty of indoor light.
Just like the human eye would see it.

You use it like a pro.
I just rented the new 24-70 and it blew my mind.
Wide open at 2.8 and it was still sharp across the board.

And yeah, the 70-200 2.8 is my favorite.

This is handheld f2.8 at 24mm in terrible light

Love the wide angles by guess. Really epic feeling! What lens were you using for that?

A couple new uploads:

Someone's pants hanging outside their house in Kerala, India

Some aliens I found in a headshop in Kiev

I haven't had the time to shoot photos like I want, working 50+ hour weeks plus school sucks!!! Awesome photos from everyone.

This is one of my favorites that I did.

Guess: those chile and Argentina shots are awesome :)

Mahzkrieg: nice! how many weddings have you done? How did yo go about doing your first one?

From me just thought I'd copy/paste over my iphone 5 product style shots from the iPhone thead:

Those shot look great, man. Beautiful even lighting.

And thanks!
I've done 20-25 weddings over 4 years.
This year was the biggest year for me.

A friend hired me for my first wedding and I used those photos to promote myself at a low price. My first few were smaller ceremonies and it just grew from there.

I was talking more about the colour and the washed-out darks. Whenever I try this in post, it looks bizarre...

Shoot Film! Or slightly lower the black levels via a tone curve tool. It'll open up the blacks to give you that loook.
