Pretty cool demo. Those shield soldiers are fucking annoying. *Smash* "Hahahahahaha." Dante reminds of Drake a little.

I was trying to figure out what other character he reminded me of and I couldn't place it. It's Drake. He has that Drake snark going on.

Angel lifts don't break the pause, so you can YY angel lift into a scythe Y, which lifts some more. Yeeeeeeaaahhh

Gene says hi.

Don't make me dig up the post where I got you to admit that Ninja Gaiden is better than DMC. This can get heavy real fast.

Please don't start this shit. I think fans of the glory days of DMC and Ninja Gaiden need to unite because things are looking rather grim for both series.

The gameplay is surprisingly damn good and you can see where it will open up even more. Level design and art is also going to make it a real mind fuck to play. Dante comes off as kind of lame, but I still definitely want to play this. Think it will be fun as hell.

Ninja Gaiden will be fine. It May never reach the heights of Black, but I don't think we will see another NG3, especially now we have NGZ. NG3: Razors Edge is definitely a step in the right direction from what ive seen so far.

DMC...may never be the same again. This game is good enough to convince alot of people that the original series doesn't need to return.

I agree on the DMC part, which may be bittersweet because DmC will probably garner a larger audience but for different reasons

Looking at some vids it seems people are assuming that rainstorm (both grounded and in air) aren't unlocked in the demo, but they are.

X+B (hold) in ground or air.

We won't get another NG3. That's for sure. And Team Ninja did what they could to salvage the mess that they made through NGZ. I'm not convinced that they're up to the task yet with a new title, but time will tell.

It's just a dark time for fans of these games in general.

There is going to be some decent depth to the gameplay. Much better than anything Ninja Theory has ever accomplished, that is for sure. I love the way it plays.

Well Ezekial, kudos. Im eating my hat. Played some of the demo and actually came away impressed. You're still a total shill though =P

Really? That's terrible. No ones ever going to press that.

Sony: FUUUUUUUUUU*Vomits*UUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!

and I say:

Fucka-gadafuck-menfucka-boo-la fuckidi-fockiddi-fuck
Put 'em together and what the fuck have you got?
fuckidi-fockiddi-fuck

DmC should have been a parody Disney themed musical, now that would have been deep.

Alright, just finished playing. I was satisfied and I enjoyed a lot of elements of the demo. Freeform combat, responsive ,fluid, tech seemed stable (kudos NT). But I'm not really going to get into that.

Since there is a lot more good, than bad, I'm just going to talk about the bad.

NINJA THEORY - LISTEN TO THE FOLLOWING, K THX.

Much like I told Ben Judd when he was working at capcom japan back in 2004 early in DMC3 development, on how the game should be a fuck - ton harder (before anyone says they overcompensated, the difficulty was spot on, the checkpoint system wasn't.) I'm going to have to say the same thing here.

This game is a bit too easy on default-normal. When you get hit by an enemy, with a character with so many defensive and offensive options, your punishment should not be merely losing 1/2 of an individual little pussy ass block/tile of health. When you get hit by a chainsaw guy who telegraphs THE FUCK out of his attack, you should not lose one mere block/tile of health. When RE4 did this - LEON FUCKING DIED straight up.

Bottom line, as far as I'm concerned, the boss difficulty seems appropriate for normal mode. But the enemies need to take off more damage. Now that doesn't mean you give them more health, nobody likes enemies that take 10 years to kill, but they should deal more damage to Dante. I'd say the damage output enemies have on Nephelim or even Son of Sparda needs to be the damage out put on normal. Easy mode will always be there for those that need it.

If one were to fuck up the difficulty in a DMC game, its always better to make it too hard than for it to be too easy. What's worse is that you have a friendly checkpoint system, healing items, you can hold multiple gold orbs at a time etc. You'd have to be a bumbling idiot to get a game over on normal mode. Unacceptable.

Make it harder. All within reason, naturally - normal mode should be normal. But there is a very clear imbalance between how much of a beast Dante is and the damage output on the enemies deal when they attack Dante. DMC is an offensive based game, I get that. But when you do get hit by an enemy, the punishment needs to be more severe. Simple as that.

No, it's for PS3 21st.

Welp, that's stupid and makes little sense, considering PS3 updates on Tuesdays and 360 generally updates demos and stuff on Wednesday. They got it backwards. Gonna sue. Gonna sue. =l

gahhh oh well at least I have some fun essays to write for school...

EDIT: But the US PS Blog states it's coming today. Sooooo....we shall see.

Oh nevermind. I fucked up. I meant X+A

Ninja Theory to do list:

-Make the regular enemies deal more damage to Dante. They hit like pussies.
-Give Dante a sprint option much like Nero after a few seconds of consecutive running. If you want players to soak in the game, fine - then let us unlock that ability on harder settings and replays. I can already see myself angel gliding through a level.
-Can you please give back enemy parrying? I miss the days when DMC1 prevented button mashing when an enemy puppet would parry Dante's attacks. DMC3 and DMC4 failed to bring it back.
-Arbitar is OVERPOWERED. It's damage output needs to be slightly reduced.
- There needs to be more recovery on Arbitar's attacks. As well as a on a whiffed launcher. Canceling attacks freely in an action game is crucial, but there needs to be more risk and reward if the player chooses to perform a hail mary with Arbitar.
- Dante's evade has too much invincibility. The start up and even some of the mid-way should be invincible. But the entire duration? That's a little too much invincibility on that.

How was the game on Nephilim? To be honest there is no "default" difficulty in the final game, you get the option to play 3 difficulties. If Nephilim is reasonably challenging then its ok, I could care less what Human and DH modes offer.

Still a cakewalk from personal experience. You guys are better players so it will be even more of a cakewalk.

Wow Son of Sparda spawns new enemies, a fire dude and an ice dude.
The fire dude turns the floor to lava, looks really cool.

Found out by complete accident that if you counter the ice dude's ice attack, he freezes himself.

Also you don't have to attack at the last second to counter, it appears if you dodge into the attack it counters as well. Did this randomly as well.

Edit: Also the fire and ice dudes can only be hurt by the demon and angel weapons respectively.

At the time of its original US release I enjoyed that every level of DMC past the first two felt like going to war. But the Gold Orbs in the HD collection do make it a lot more user friendly. If anyone here has the PSN version of DMC HD can they tell me if save files from the disc version work with it? I asked in the OT but it's pretty dead.

I'm glad to hear the general opinion of the combat in DmC is favorable, even if the dialogue and storytelling still sound terrible to me. Another Capcom debacle like the RE 6 demo would have been depressing.

So this ranks at the end...

don't tell me it takes from the DMC4 school of ranks where you gotta explore every damn part of the level and get all the damn red orbs to get the S-ranks.

Nephilim is piss easy. I never even watched the boss videos before and got hit by it a lot and was never in any danger.

And yes, you need to explore the levels for ranks again.

You have to explore but it seems only once. Once you have the key/doors/souls, you have them the next time you go through. At least in the demo

I don't see what is wrong with exploring anyway.

I think it's less about exploring but needing to find all the "hidden" orbs to get S tank. That's just a chore
