That 99 cents thing is going to make the discount program a little infuriating.
oh right. I agree with that they maybe should have waited until next gen before making those changes.
still did anyone ever use for five activations? it was s odd number to settle upon for sony but it shows they understood how online account migration works, even if it wasn't as good as say microsoft.
That's only 9 games. I highly doubt that anybody who posts on gaf would'nt buy that many games for a console over a 2 year period. I think you're missing out on a sweet deal here, particularly since you say you're going all digital.
$550 just to break even, you don't save any money until you buy the next one (the deal is basically, buy 9 games get the 10th one free). So yeah, if I buy 12 games over the two years the deal is being offered, I could save a whopping $15 on the 13th game! The deal is really only good if you buy tons and tons of games for one console (I don't), or if you want Nintendo Land.
Don't forget the charging cradle, that's another $20. I definitely need one of those anyway.$550 just to break even, you don't save any money until you buy the next one (the deal is basically, buy 9 games get the 10th one free). I actually wanted nintendoland and seems to be a huge success with the family over thanksgiving on top of an additional discount on games, some memory and a charger stand. I preferred the black color as well. All that it comes down to is if you want nintendoland or not. If you're going to get nintendoland the deluxe version is a great deal. If you're not interested in it then you probably are just as well off with the basic model.$550 just to break even, you don't save any money until you buy the next one (the deal is basically, buy 9 games get the 10th one free). which seems to be a sweet game... But hey to each his own..
Great purchases btw. All of them are fantastic.Just got back from Gamestop and they actually had two white Wii U's sitting there for sale. A day after Black Friday, and this was in a very busy shopping area north of Cincinnati. Kinda surprised.
Picked up Tales of Symphonia, Silent Hill: Shattered Dreams, and Phantom Brave with their B2G1 free sale. Bought the deluxe Wii U on a whim on launch day (over an hour after MicroCenter opened, no preorder), and now have Xenoblade, Last Story, Skyward Sword, Madworld, Red Steel 2, Naruto NGT(?) 3, Muramasa The Demon Blade and Sin & Punishment Star Successor, trying to catch up on games I missed that I was interested in
Think Ive been rolling too hard. lol
I've never paid attention to Wii U until this week. Hell until this week I thought it was another portable system, LOL. Anyway I'm kinda interested in it.. are there any RPGs out yet or due soon?

I actually prefer the white and got it despite the deluxe version being a better deal...I'm a little bit anal about dust so it's worth it to me. I would have gotten the Deluxe in a heartbeat though if only it weren't black.True, but even casuals want the most value for their money. Especially with Nintendoland packed in the with the Deluxe model it makes it the one they'll want to buy as well.

... I'm not sure if you're trolling or not. You're a member of GAF, and you thought it was a portable system? I could understand MAYBE thinking that from the initial e3 presentation, but now?

Given the disadvantages of the Basic it'd have probably been better to just have Deluxe as standard with two color choices. Of course then they'd have to give up that $350 point. I'd blame the exchange rate, but without that they'd have probably instead done $250 and $300 since that'd cover the Wii's launch price. It would have been nice to have a color choice for both Basic and Deluxe. But that would have meant 4 SKUs at launch, which would have been a bit nutzoid.
I think it's a pretty common notion for some people to mistake it for a handheld. My brother only games on ps3 and thought it was a handheld because you only see pictures of the tablet everywhere.
Hah, I just noticed that even on the Nintendo.com Wii U page they have tons of warning that its not a portable unit
Just picture it
Person opens up Wii-U box, takes out the tablet controller
Sees this long rectangular plastic box, ask WTF is this? and throws it away
and wonders why the Tablet controller doesn't work
No, it seriously is. It lets you play the game in any position you want. The game does not use the pointer or motion controls at all, just the buttons. I played the game with my arms comfortably resting at my sides. Most comfortable traditional gaming experience I've ever had.
you know... I have to point out something I was looking forward to but it has not happened yet
OMG I have Dead Pixel! thread
where are they?
my gamepad screen is so freaken sexy :3
Has anyone had anything ship from Newegg that's WiiU related? I've been waiting for a very early pre-ordered Pro Controller. As I've watched their site, I've notived the dates slowly slipping back. First it was a week, then 12/11, and then 12/18. Now it's 12/31. I go to Target and Walmart and I see a number of them on the racks. What gives?
We don't need anymore negative Wii-U threads man
I seriously wonder why Nintendo went with Wii U as the name though. I mean, after the issue arising with the 3DS, why not actually name it something else? Or at least make an attempt at marketing here in the US. I have seen like in total 5 commercials for the Wii-U and I have my TV on all day long.
do games come with Version numbers now? Looking at all my Wii U game start screens I think nearly half have a Ver 1.1.0 or something similar
Yeah, especially because it doesn't really make sense - Nintendo was saying "It's Wii U because it's all about you this time!" Yeah, but Nintendo is making it out to be all about multiplayer, NOT all about you. NintendoLand is all about you *and your friends*, and Nintendo is marketing that as one of the main points of the console.
Early adopters are informed guys who don't need marketing, so you can save the marketing money for December (christmas) for the more mainstream audience.I seriously wonder why Nintendo went with Wii U as the name though. Should've been called Super Wii and launch with New Super Mario World.Yeah, especially because it doesn't really make sense - Nintendo was saying "It's Wii U because it's all about you this time!" Yeah, I guess since Nintendo created a system that encouraged developers to patch their games, they must have decided to require showing version numbers so their support would know which version people were calling about.

Yeah exactly, they even use the superior name for marketing. How screwed up is that? Then again I doubted them with using "Wii" in the first place, so what do I know.In Japan their commercials are calling it a Super Wii, I agree, after seeing Nintendo call it that it should have been the name.
