UPDATE 3:

The upcoming 2013 issue #3 of Weekly Shōnen Jump (set for release this Monday, 17 December 2012) contains new information about — as well as the first screen shots for — the previously-announced Project Versus J video game, now confirmed for release on the Sony PlayStation 3 and Vita, and is classified as a “team battle action” game.

Images in the magazine show off Toriko’s “Nail Punch”, Luffy’s “Gum-Gum Stamp”, and Goku’s Kamehameha. The magazine also asks readers to enter a new contest by choosing up to three characters they feel are the strongest and why (as well as detailing their favorite manga, which game consoles they own, their favorite game genre, and how many video games they own). Naturally, rivals and female characters are OK, too! From all those who enter, 10 people will be chosen by lottery to receive a PlayStation 3 system. Votes will be tallied to determine which characters make the game’s final roster cut. The deadline is 31 January 2013, so that presumably puts the game’s release at least at some point in time after that

Zenkai Battle Royale is a PS3 Dragon Ball arcade game that is developed internally (as far as we know) by Namco Bandai. It runs on PS3 hardware, and could very well be classified as a "team battle action" game. Looks very similar to the rendering style used in this game:

UPDATE 2:

Confirmed to be PS3/PSV. Jump will also be having a poll to decide which characters will be included.

???

UPDATE: The publisher is Namco Bandai, which makes it seem like a sequel to JUMP Stars won't be happening. The second scan's Goku model reminds me of Spike Chunsoft's handy work ...

Original:

Scan just shows character models of Goku, Luffy, and Toriko. Claims it will be the "ultimate Jump game". No other details, dates, or prices were disclosed.

Bitching about region locking in 3... 2... 1...

double edit:
In addition to One Piece, Dragon Ball, and Toriko being showcased, the creators of the new game are taking requests for characters to include this time around, a move they also made back when a sequel to Jump Super Stars was first announced. Folks who send in their character votes will also be entered into a contest for what we can only assume are fabulous prizes — one of which is a Nintendo 3DS, though (as we attempt to connect the dots) no platform for this game is specifically mentioned that we are able to determine at this time. From what we are able to see, the release date and price are also yet to be determined.

I REALLY HOPE GANBERION IS MAKING. I will buy a Japanese 3DS for this game if it's them.

Jump Super/Ultimate Stars was such a hidden gem for the DS, too.
Just the fact you make your own manga page and use panels as battle assets won me over.

REGION LOCKING.
(save the day homebrew...?)

Well, not so hidden (in Japan at least):

First episode: 549,265
Second one: 789,445

Let's see if it will be for 3ds or not...

Ummmmm I dont think this has a platform yet

Yeah, took a look there isn't any indication.

Those models don't look they'd be for the 3DS either. My guess is it's coming out for the PS3, although it's pure speculation at this point.

edit: beaten many many times

Well I was just asking what Ganbarion was doing in the One Piece thread. Guess I'll have the answer soon!

What are the chances of this coming to the west?

The good news is that all the properties in the scan are licensed by one company in North America. The bad news is that the game claims to be "the ultimate JUMP game" which means those aren't going to be the entire lineup of IPs.

Please be on a region free console! I guess that's just PS3 or PSV.

Probably going to be for 3DS.

Effectively 0. Different companies have the licenses for these series in the west, and plenty of them are unlicensed.

I have never heard of this, why should I care? How did previous games in the franchise sell?

Who cares how much it sold, crossover between Dragon Ball, Naruto, Toriko, Bleach and One Piece is the shit of dreams. But since you asked:

[NDS] Jump! Ultimate Stars (Nintendo) - 169,740 / 789,445
[NDS] Jump! Super Stars (Nintendo) - 202,139 / 549,265

Namco Bandai still makes a fucktonne of PSP games, lol.

I'm hoping it doesn't come to 3ds. There is no way I'm buying another 3ds just to play this game. Hoping it comes to ps3/vita or any other console that isn't region locked.

Me because this is a game that I have no interest in playing. Ever. But much like MH and many other JP franchises, it'll be interesting to see its sales.

Based on the history, this is most likely a 3DS title and it's just a matter of semantics before confirmation. However, if it's for psv, then I can't help but think that Sony and NB are in bed since NB would be putting all its major selling franchises (Tales, God Eater, One Piece) on sony's struggling handheld. Maybe Sony can't afford to break the contract between Ninty and SE/Capcom and chose to go to NB instead. Does NB have any remaining big franchises in JP?

Pff, where is Ichigo?

Bleach anime is dead, and interestingly Bleach is one of the few JUMP properties Namco Bandai doesn't own the rights to ...

I'm thinking this might be published by Namco Bandai (rather than the previous DS games, which Nintendo released), so in which case I'd suspect PS3 and potentially Vita.

As for other big Namco franchises, Tekken, Soul Calibur, Dragon Ball and the Gundam Versus series. First three are bigger internationally than in Japan.

God damn if this is on 3DS I'll have to buy one from Japan. Hope it's for Vita so I finally have an excuse to get one.
