Pokémon developer, Game Freak, have published a New Year’s greeting card in Nintendo Dream magazine in Japan. The card, according to Pokémon Memo, includes a brief message from series director, Junichi Masuda.

Masuda says that Game Freak intend to work toward evolving the Pokémon world in the year 2013. No further details are provided, however.

I'm pretty sure this is functionally identical to something they said right at the beginning of 2010, when Gen V wasn't far from being announced.

I certainly think Gen VI is happening this year, whether this is fluff or not.

except a different part of the fanbase has grown up with each different gen, so your nostalgia-induced list will cut out the newer fanbase, who are likely to spend just as much money.
