What's the deal with only Lange being nominated for a Golden Globe?

Everyone has been robbed this time :(

The Golden Globes are a joke anyway, so I don't really care all that much. I am expecting some Emmy noms for some of the rest of the cast though. Maybe for Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe.

There's a few more interviews popping up. SPOILERS if you haven't seen the latest episode "COAT HANGER"

DYLAN MCDERMOTT (Jonny Thredson)
From: Entertainment Weekly
  • Him and Murphy decided to return him to the series early on.
  • McDermott reckons he will be "tipping the hat" to last season with his performance going on.
  • He feels that the character will be "softer" and "explored" later on in the series
  • McDermott has a Rubber Man suit in his closet (LOL)
  • McDermott filmed scenes with some cast members for Asylum:
Lana (Sarah Paulson) and Oliver (Zach Quinto)
  • If asked, he would do Season 3

RYAN MURPHY (Creator, Writer, Producer)
From: Entertainment Weekly
  • They actually considered whether or not Dylan McDermott could play the son of Zachary Quinto and Sarah Paulson (ie. looks wise)
  • Brooke Smith's auditioning was "accidental" but served as a nice homage to her role in The Silence of the Lambs
  • Murphy confirmed that
    Teresa (Jenna Dewan Tatum)
    is dead
  • Ian McShane's character will not appear again, but what he does after the baptism will be discussed / explored
  • He also claims that half of the cast
    will die in Episode 10
  • The reason why Lana couldnt self-abort the baby is explored in later episodes. Murphy also implies that the devil
knows more than it let on in this episode re: the abortion
  • Pepper will have a monologue in the next episode
  • Murphy confirmed that this season isn't a
    dream
    as some have speculated.
  • You will see Grace
    give birth
    . He also confirmed that
the baby will not be an alien weird hybrid.
  • There will be a musical number in the next episode with Jude and the other inmates. (LOL)

Jessica Lange (Sister Judith Martin)
From: Collider
  • Lange commented that there were times where she said "this character is too much" or "this scene is too much" and would compromise between the creators. She prefers psychological scenes and less action ones.
  • She says that her character is not mapped out as she is used to in other acting roles. She feels it's made her a better actress.
  • Lange was attracted to the role because of the path Jude takes throughout the series.
  • She claims that Season 3 hasn't been discussed much, but that she will try it again if the story and character is right for her.
  • She doesn't know what would make her sign on to Season 3.
  • She claims this season has just exhausted her and feels like it's gone on "forever".
  • She says she hasn't "given thought" to Season 3.
  • She requested Jude to be an alcoholic and to have that drunken speech during Nor'Easter (Episode 3).
  • Despite her apprehension about Season 3, she claims that there is "little" that would not make her want to return.
  • She's grateful that American Horror Story has exposed her talents to a younger (and arguably wider)
  • She claims her characters are "crazy" and not "creepy".
  • She loves the actors (she mentions Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, James Cromwell and Ian McShane) but felt a special connection with France Conroy during the diner scene.
There is more to the Lange interview, but a lot of it is her self-reflecting so you might be interested in that.

Not too fond to the idea of a musical number but otherwise the rest sounds fine.

Why not? That would be the proverbial "kitchen sink" for this show. Gotta keep raising that bar til it won't go any higher.

Did not remember the season starting back up again tomorrow night. Will definitely be tuning in.

Oh, I just re-read my summary of the interviews Murphy did. It seems that there will definitely be death in the next episode.

Interesting.

I predict that
Kit will
be one of the first to die at this point.

Ryan Murphy officially confirmed the death count in tonight's episode. There will be a grand total of (
......TWO......
) characters dying in tonight's episode.

I'm still confused about who they will be.

For fun, and without looking at the synopsis lines I posted, I will just guess and say:

Mary Eunice
Arthur Arden

It just makes the most sense, I can't see their character arcs going anywhere else given what we've seen thus far.

(And it seems that Jude is getting pretty
close to working out or fixing up Mary Eunice
)

I don't know why, but I was reluctant to get into this series. I enjoy Glee and liked Nip/Tuck so I'm pretty impervious to Ryan Murphy's nonsense. But I finally got around to watching Murder House, and enjoyed it. There was a real sense of throwing everything at the wall, and hoping it sticks, but overall I had a great time. The show was trashy fun.

So, I decided to catch up on Asylum for the final couple of episodes. Holy shit. This season is just so damn eager to please. Possession. Mad (Nazi) Scientists. Killer manimals. Aliens. Serial killers. It's got the same trashy vibe from Murder House, but really upped the overall production quality. Needless to say, I'm enjoying this season even more than the first. I wish I had jumped on board sooner.

That wrapped up a surprising number of plot lines. Though I guess that is inevitable with only three episodes left.

What do you guys think the clue was for season 3 in this ep? Rome? Amnesia? Marriage? Fire?

Oh, and the globes snubbed the fuck out of horror story in acting. The ep dark cousin should have been a lock for some of the actors.
