Square-Enix ask you what do you want in 2013

Get some of those epic GREE and iOS games over here ASAP! Seriously why on Earth do they need to ask?

Realistically? I've just got a 3DS and an English version of Bravely Default would look great with it... *hint hint* Also, Type 0 in one form or another and a new TWEWY (WiiU and/or 3DS would be perfect) can't be that far out of the realms of possibility, can they?

As for wishes? Well since SE published the last console iteration, a new console Grandia game wouldn't go amiss, we need to see one of the best turn-based battle systems in action once again (and don't make the story terrible like G3). A new Vagrant Story would be nice too.

Oh well, it's nice to dream.

Really disappointed at the lack of TWEWY love in here. No wonder Square hasn't bothered making a sequel.

Anyway...

TWEWY 2 announcement.
A new Final Fantasy Tactics, hopefully less childish than the last two installments.
Bravely Default and Dragon Quest VII localization. In fact, the increased viability of digital distribution means that there's literally no excuse for any project not to be localized moving forward.
Let a team of newcomers work on the next mainline Final Fantasy under Hiroyuki Ito's supervision and a little bit of input from their western studios.
I don't ask for sequels to existing franchises because IMO someone needs to have an idea for a sequel. I don't want sequels for the sake of sequels. If there are thoughts on how to follow up TWEWY, then I'm there day one. If they're going to rehash a bunch of stuff and turn it into crap like Chrono Cross, then I'd rather the game not be made.

I'd like to see:

Bravely Default in English
Dragon Quest VII in English
Type 0 in English

And in the "wishes that will never come true" category
FFXII Zodiac Job HD Remaster
Remakes of FF 3, 5, 6, in the style of FF1-2 Anniversary and FF4 Complete on a portable platform

After ten years of constant blabbing about becoming a more global company... become a more global company. Don't greenlight any project that isn't intended to be a global project. Don't use any technology that can't be shared globally. Hire non-Japanese executives. Hire non-Japanese creatives. Don't privilege "in house" domestic work over worldwide work. Don't make platform decisions based on the economics of releasing in Japan. Launch simultaneously worldwide.

Everything else people here would request logically flows from this.
While I understand that some games are too clearly for one market or another, they should ideally be smaller games that truly have no appeal outside of that market, IE that witch touching game of SNK's or Love Plus with Konami. We shouldn't be worrying about stuff like Bravely Default, or missing SaGa remakes and the Nanashi no Game entries where there's a sizeable niche, or at least A solid niche.

Though I guess at least the Nanashi no Game entries would do better globally as DD titles than retail ones. :/

Did my part and asked for Bravely Default and Type Zero in the west. They seem like realistic demands. I couldn't care less about Versus because I haven't seen enough of it to give a shit.

The site's bothering me with the fact that when I go into their games' pages, the page title says "SQUARE GAMES" instead of "SQUARE ENIX GAMES".

Versus is also going to come out in the US whenever it actually hits, it's too big of a game and it's on a platform that's relevant outside of Japan. Skipping that would show that either SE has really lost it or is resigned to just letting Eidos wear their name, which would make all future games branding themselves as "SE games" an insult to people who were fans of Square/Enix in the past.

Above all else a fast tracked DQ7r localization for release THIS YEAR!!!

Secondarily I'd like DQ Monsters Terrys Whatever ta pass the time until DQ7r.

Anything else'd just be cake.

DQVII is probably right up there with the Kiseki games in being a nightmare to translate, frustratingly enough. Though at least SE can command the man power to get it done quicker, and maybe it even looks nice enough this time to push forward a solid marketing campaign to get a few hundred thousand sales.

This is a can of worms... surprised Square even did this..

Type-0 localized (Win for Vita)
Bravely Default localized
KH HD localized
KH2 HD
FF13 Versus

More of Lightning, the star of the epic Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Saga, please!

No but for real, Dragon Quest 7 and Bravely Default, thanks.

Hire Matsuno, Yoshida and , Iwata and Sakimoto.

Give them the Final Fantasy XII sequel, and all Ivalice properties.

Don't care about the rest of Square Enix anymore.

Actually, since it was a failed merger, split off from Enix and be Squaresoft again, old logo and all.

Versus, Chrono, and deadlines.

Edit:

If not possible: Go bankrupt and have a real company purchase your IPs.

I want Bravely Default and DQVII, same as everyone else. Amazing to think we might get neither.

If bravely default doesn't come here, I will never buy a game from them again on any platform.

I can see they aren't immune to this as FF type O looks to never be released. Morons.

I'm surprised they have to ask, I mean it's not like they don't know that their fanbase is pissed off with them for not releasing games without Lightning.

Versus release, Braverly Default localization, Just Cause 3, Sleepy Dogs 2 and Legacy of Kain is all I need in my life. Like really.

This could be a western branch vs. eastern branch thing. Capcom has to deal with this crap, where Capcom JP thinks Americans don't like Megaman and Capcom USA has to go out of its way to say "HEY LOOK AT ALL THE EVIDENCE IDIOTS".

that was Tri Ace
'ts still a game from Enix's side. Enix themselves never developed games, but rather owned IPs that they let outside studios create games for. So if someone's talking about games from Enix's side, they can only refer to franchises published by former-Enix, but developed by tri-Ace, Quintet, Heartbeat, etc.

1) I want Wada to be dismissed, and I want a complete overhaul of Square-Enix management.

2) [More long-term than just 2013] I want them to go back to putting Dragon Quest games on powerful HD consoles and have them go back to being single-player RPGs, just like the old days. Don't bring back random encounters, though.

3) Finish Versus, then give the Final Fantasy brand a break for a while. The brand is currently damaged both in Japan and the US.

4) Bring back Matsuno.

5) Embrace the PC platform more, stop treating it as an afterthought. Bring more Japanese games to Steam.

True, it could be that. Maybe that's why they even created the thread in the first place. Though it's hilarious that SE wants to be a global company and yet now, when they are a global publisher with a huge list of studios, they are jerking around with localisations.
Their actions all generation show they don't.
I wonder how can they just ignore or brush aside all of that when they're making decisions.

Management issues abound. That and letting creators like Nomura do what they want.
